Hi piquant, Dancing & Beanie, thanks for the reassurance.
Piquant, funny you say that about DS not being in nappies at 16 as that's what I've been saying to DH to reassure him as his mum keeps nagging him about getting DS toilet trained. She doesn't dare bring it up with me as I lost my temper a bit when she kept interrogating me and being all disapproving that he wasn't toilet trained by about 1. 👀 😂 I just had a wee wobble the other day when I realised he really, really isn't there yet.
I know I need to get to bed earlier, I'm a night owl and evenings are my only (mostly) child free time so I'm always reluctant to go to bed! Silly really as I know I need the sleep.
Dancing, I think that's what we're going to have to do with DS, just a bit worried that he'll never decide he doesn't need nappies as he can be a bit lazy. 🤣 My youngest niece is 10 months older than DS but was born 10 weeks early. She and DS are probably around the same level in speech despite the age gap but I think part of that is that her big sister speaks for her a lot as well.
Thanks Beanie, I try not to compare DS to other kids his age but sometimes I just can't help it. DH is convinced he's a bit of a genius 🤣 (he's not) and thinks DD is even smarter (at not even 6 months) so he's a bit biased. 😂
My sleep wasn't great, DD woke up around 3 times which she hasn't done for a couple of weeks, she has been waking up once around half 11/12 then sleeping through. Last night she was up at 9:30, 11:30, 4:30 and then awake around 8:30 but just lay quietly until 9ish. She wanted a bottle every time so maybe it's just a growth spurt.
DS soaked through his cloth nappy during the night and then again through a pull up nappy. 😩 So all his sheets and both mattress protectors have been washed and hung out by DH. Will need to get them all back on for bedtime. DH got up and dealt with DS again which was good, I didn't even hear him crying around 3am until DH got up as I was so fast asleep.
I'm going to look into more absorbent reusable nappies for night time use as the ones we have are more daytime nappies. Hopefully that will make a difference with DS although I think he's wriggling around a lot at night which isn't helping.
So far today I've had a shower, hoovered all the rooms upstairs and cleaned the blinds and windowsills in my bedroom. I have 3 windows in there so it's a nightmare cleaning them all but the blinds are white so the dust was showing up really badly. 😱 I also dusted the bed frame, bedside tables and the top of the tall chest of drawers.
I ordered cat biscuits the other day as the website was saying delivery could take up to 9 days. 😯 The other places I normally buy them were all wiped out online as well, so just ordered them as will need them in the next week or so.

Got some washing out on the line today, it was sunny but cold and it was dry when I brought it in. 😀 I had a video call with my older nieces and DS kept stealing the phone off me so they got a lot of views of the sky/ground etc as we were out in the garden at the time. 😂 I think they enjoyed seeing DS & DD though they didn't talk much, they just said they were bored and had nothing to do.
Didn't really get much else done to be honest as had a terrible sleep last night but this time it was DS waking up. He woke up about 4 times crying but couldn't tell me why, was quite happy to go back to bed after a cuddle though. He didn't leak in last night's cloth combo, which had a charcoal insert, a hemp one and the pocket nappy poppered up tight as DS is getting skinny and is all legs atm.
Trying the same tonight although DH did up the nappy so we'll see if he did it as tight as I told him to - obviously not so tight that it's hurting DS - well he didn't say it was too tight but sometimes he doesn't answer when you ask him questions like that, so who knows. 🤷♀️
Need to get some compost soon so we can put our potatoes into their bags but don't know where to get any as we usually get the massive bags at b&q. 🤔 Possibly a supermarket? Will get DH to look on his way home from work tomorrow as he needs to get fruit for DS's snacks.
Cashed out £10 from shoppix so will pay that off one of the debts when it comes through.
Going to head to bed very shortly, should have went earlier really. 😐Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.3 -

First off. Ignore your mother in law. The only one trained at the age of 1 is you, because you anticipate when the child will need to go.
Now, having a boy may actually help. Does he use the regular toilet? Hubby plays a big part in this, monkey see, monkey do.
Do you have cheerios cereal in England? Its the one where they always float, never sink. If not, experiment with small leaves, anything that will stay on top. Make a game of it. It's called sink the battleship. Give DS a stand to enable him to reach the toilet. Dad will attempt to hit hit the object, DS will probably try to beat him.
Good luck.4 -
Thanks Beanie, it was DD's turn again last night to keep waking up. 😩 Followed by DS later on, he helpfully waited until DD had fallen asleep (after her third wake up) and I was just lying down again. Oh joy. DH was up at 3am for work as well so doubt he had a good sleep either.
Hi evebeme. 👋 Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a go when we re-try the toilet training. Yes we have cheerios - that's a good tip. 😊 My mum did say just get DS to keep following his daddy to the toilet, he normally does anyway as he's curious. 😂 Don't worry my MIL doesn't say anything to me after I lost my temper with her, just DH and even he has told her to zip it because the constant interrogations about toilet training were annoying him. 👏
Hoping to get a bit of housework done today and possibly a bit of yoga in the afternoon. Doing yoga after putting the kids to bed just isn't working right now as I'm too tired so I'm thinking of trying mornings when DH is working lates and afternoons when he's early shift. There will be times when neither time works though as he works day shifts as well but I need to try something different to get myself back into it.

My DGS is almost 4 and still not properly toilet trained, he's getting there slowly though. Like everyone says they all get there in their own time.
You have to find what works for you with the yoga and fitting it into your current routine, plenty of stuff on You Tube to choose from. I think all our routines are to pot at the minute.
Fingers crossed for a better night's sleep tonight.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3 -
I ordered some compost from an online plant company and I ordered some bedding plants from them too, as the garden centres are shut and I wasn't sure if the supermarkets would be selling that type of thing at the moment.
I hope DS and DD sleep better tonight. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Hi SA, Hairy & piquant. 👋
I managed to do 30 mins of yoga this afternoon with DD lying on her play mat next to me, she was just happy watching and liked the yoga instructor's voice (yoga with Adriene on youtube is my go to as she's very clear and doesn't go too fast like a lot of other instructors).
DH took DS out into the garden with him whilst he cut the grass so I had some peace to do my yoga. 😊 Just heading for a quick shower now then will be organising DD for her bedtime, she's very particular and likes to go to bed at the same time every night. She gets quite angry if we're out of routine or running late!
Hairy, I'll look online, I think a lot of places are out of stock or have stopped taking orders just now as they're overwhelmed but will keep trying. I just want some compost for my potatoes. 😩
Fingers crossed the kids sleep better, I'm used to getting up at least once with DD but 3 times is a bit much for me then having DS join in isn't fun.
Going to start weaning DD properly soon, she's been having a bit of baby porridge in the mornings for a couple of weeks and she's really enjoying it. Think we'll try some mashed up banana next and then some sticks of cooked carrot. I did a mixture of baby led and spoon feeding with DS so will see what suits DD.
Have been trying my cheaper reusable nappies and they definitely leak more quickly than my more expensive ones. They're ok to use at home but wouldn't use them out and about as only get about 2 hours from them, especially with DS. I might try them with some different inserts as well - bamboo or hemp rather than microfibre as they are more absorbent. The mixture of charcoal/bamboo and hemp seems to work quite well for DS at night so I'd buy more of those inserts. 👍Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
