How old is your DS? Each child is different with potty training and reach that stage at different times. With DD1 I felt quite a pressure to have her potty trained by 2, by the time I got to DS3, I waited until he was a bit older and showing signs of being ready. He was quite quick to train in the end!paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Hi Honeysuckle, DS will be 3 in June so I'm thinking it probably is time to have a go at potty training. I guess if we try and he's really not ready we can always stop and try again in a few months but don't want to put pressure on him or give him negative associations.
He sometimes tells us if he has a dirty nappy now but not always and he will always tell me he's wet if his nappy has leaked, so he seems to be getting there. I'd like him to be toilet trained before going to nursery in August but obviously there are no guarantees.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Can't believe the chocolate aisle is still empty
I need to go grocery shopping today and I hope I can get some.
Let us know how the cloth nappies go, I am curious

Thanks Beanie, I think DS will probably pick it up fairly quickly but I'm a bit scared to try!
Poor boy woke me up crying around 5am this morning as his nappy had leaked and his pjs and bed were all wet. So that was fun 😑 but at least it was a quick change as had the spare duvet and pillow made up already in the ottoman in his room and the sheets were in there too. It's been ages since he had a big leak, this time it was all up his back so no idea how that happened. 🤷♀️ I had to sit and cuddle with him for a while before he was happy to go back to bed.
Velvet, I know the chocolate aisle was totally bare but luckily they still had quite a few Easter eggs in a different aisle so I bought one to keep us going. No wonder I'm putting on weight. 👀 😂
I tried two of the three cloth nappies I had bought on DD today and think they're quite good. The first one was excellent and had really thick bamboo inserts, I changed it after 3 hours and it was pretty wet but didn't leak. The second one was a bit thinner, the inserts weren't as thick and after 3 hours it was starting to leak very slightly.
I think I'll have to work on the fitting of the nappies, as think I put the second nappy on too tight. There are loads of adjustable poppers though, so it's just a case of working out the best combination for DD.
I haven't experienced a pooey nappy yet but so far I'm impressed - the pocket nappies are pretty easy to use, just a case of getting the right fit and insert combo for DD. I've not tried one on DS yet but think once I get a few more I'll give it a go, especially if his pull ups keep leaking at night. I actually stuck a hemp booster into his pull up nappy at bedtime tonight to see if it makes any difference.
Have had a very lazy day, DD was very clingy and sleepy, hope she is just teething rather than coming down with something. I hand washed some dishes then put some soda crystals down the kitchen sink and bleached it too. Gave the floor a quick brush and did a mini clean of the litter trays.
I washed DS's sheets from last night and have put them back on the spare pillow and duvet in case of another leak tonight. I also washed the cloth nappies along with my reusable wipes so have them hanging up to dry now, hopefully I can use them again tomorrow and practise a better fit on DD. Now have a washing of towels on.
I escaped for an hour by having a bath earlier and left DH watching the kids. I put the baby gate on at the bottom of the stairs then went into the bathroom and locked the door. It was nice just to have peace and be alone for a while. I usually have DS, DD and the two cats with me watching everything I do. 👀 😂
My mum was saying that she heard that there were loads of people out today down by the seaside and also at the main park in the town! 😱 We were all in our houses! My brother and his gf had an indoor picnic with their girls to cheer them up rather than chancing going to the park. People really aren't taking the social distancing thing seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if we go into lockdown soon. 😔
DH said his work colleagues (who had to be out doing their jobs) also said that the town was very busy last night with people going out to pubs before they had to close. 😱
No real plans for tomorrow, I gave my mum her Mother's Day cards and plants the other day when I saw her in case we couldn't get back down on the day.
Will try to get DS out into the garden, I'm sure he would enjoy that as I got his slide out for him the other day and he loves playing on it although his wellies do get stuck on it a bit. 😂

Have been out in the garden with DS "helping" 😂 and managed to weed and tidy up quite a lot. Also sorted out some plants that needed (late) pruning and moved the pots around to look nice from our patio doors.
DS had a great time and didn't want to come back into the house. 🤣 He was playing with an empty pot and some compost for ages but did catch him attacking my tulips at one point. 🙄
Still need to clear out the greenhouse and get it organised so that the seedlings can go in there once the threat of frost has finally passed.
My Mother's Day present was a big bag of pick'n'mix. 🤣 And a pair of slippers. DH knows me so well. 😊Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Debt Free Diary to try & keep spending in check.4 -
With all this panic buying of food, chocolate and booze, there'll be a fair few on diets after all this. Are people really going to sit eating/drinking all day. I think we'll go on lockdown in the next couple of days, people are treating it like a holiday 😒I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Yes, I reckon lockdown by Wednesday if not before.

At least I'll be able to go to school as I'm a key worker, but apart from we'll only be able to go out for food and work soon I reckon
. I hope we'll be allowed out for lonely walks.

Hi SA, Beanie and Hairy. 👋
Well, that's us finally on lockdown but I wonder if some people will still be going out. Have been hearing through mine & DH's work that gangs of teenagers have still been roaming around as they usually do at the weekends and in school holidays. So many parents either don't give a cr*p or don't know what their kids are doing, it's depressing.
My mum is a nurse so she's still working and will more than likely catch the covid 19 which worries me as she lives alone and has bad asthma. If she does get ill I won't be able to go and help her ☹️ , just hope it doesn't affect her too badly. It's really worrying me. DH will still have to go to work as he's classed as a key worker and one of my good friends is also a nurse so I worry about them too.
I'm going to go stir crazy being stuck in with the two wee ones and no option to go out, apart from into the garden, especially when DH is back at work for 7 days in a row. 😔 We usually go down to my mum's at least once a week and she comes up here as well. My DS will be so upset not to go and see her, he'll also be wanting to go out in the car. Every morning he asks me "Mummy, we go out in the car later? We see gran?". Then he stands at the window staring out and looking sad 😂 and that's just on a normal day!
In other news I got my smear test results through the post and it's showing minor changes again, so to go back for another test in 6 months.
Got DS & DD out into the garden for an hour today whilst I tidied up the greenhouse. It's a lot tidier now although I think I made quite a few spiders homeless. 😱 They were only wee though so I wasn't too scared. I try not to react anyway as don't want the kids to be afraid, my nieces always scream and run away from spiders and I lecture them about how good spiders are to have around. 🤣
DH tidied up part of the shed - he has a lot of boxes of stuff in there that used to live in the garage, so he found homes for a few things either in the house or the shed. Still a lot to sort but will have to do it bit by bit.
Managed to hang a washing out as it was dry and windy. 😀 It was nearly dry when I brought it in. DS had fun running under the washing line. 😂
Yesterday I made my own Mother's Day dinner 👀 as DH was busy making home brew. 🤷♀️ Just made a cheese and onion quiche with our last 3 eggs and some ready rolled short crust pastry and roast potatoes and green beans. It was quite nice but according to DH I didn't make enough roasties and DS wanted more green beans (strange child).Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
