Hi Beanie and Velvet, I usually write an essay because I'm trying to remember what I've done and where the time has gone. Glad it's not totally dull. 😆
🤣 There certainly seems to be a chocolate shortage - couldn't get hold of a wispa gold for love nor money here! I've not had one for years and just have a notion for one and can't find any, typical! 🤷♀️
Just tried to book my usual online delivery for the end of the week and the first slot I could get is for a week today. 😱 Lots of random stuff out of stock as well, which is a pain - I mean, why is tomato purée out of stock?? 😂 🤷♀️ DH is going to get the stuff we need after work tomorrow, we're not desperate for anything luckily. A bit worried about getting the baby milk but I'm sure we'll manage to find some somewhere (I hope).
Just going to have a lazy day today. DH said that both Glasgow and Edinburgh are pretty empty again so seems like people are taking the government advice seriously which is good.
Could do with putting a washing on, putting one away and hoovering the living room at the very least but will see what I can get done. Thinking macaroni might be nice for dinner, at least it's quick and easy to make and DS usually loves it, although he's a toddler so reserves the right to change his mind about what food he likes/doesn't like on a daily basis. 🙄 😂Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Need to start chitting my seed potatoes this week and also have to pot more sweet pea seedlings and move the previously potted ones into individual pots as they have shot up.
Also have some dianthus and lobelia seeds to pot on as well but the weather is so horrible that it's hard to get into the garden. My jalapeños haven't germinated yet so may try some new seeds but chillies can sometimes just take a while to germinate. 🤔
DS ran out into the (very muddy) garden today wearing his wellies but no jacket when it was pouring rain - I was just nicking out to put a bin bag in the big bin and the food waste into its bin and he put his wellies on and snuck out behind me! 👀 Then had to chase him about in the mud trying not to fall. 😭 He needed new trousers when I got him back in as the mud had splashed all up his legs!
I have bought a mosaic plant with pink through the leaves and a a violet inch plant for my mum for Mother's Day. They are both very pretty and I want to keep them for myself. 😆 I'd like to get some nice pots for them but not sure I'll get out to have a look about. I did actually say I'd buy her an aloe Vera plant so I suppose I should have a look for one of those as well.
Have put a washing away and one on and hung up but no hoovering as yet. DD is napping so really should do it before she wakes up as she hates the hoover and cries every time I use it. DS was the same and was terrified of it for ages, it's only recently that he's started making a game of it, jumping up on the couch and running away from it laughing. 🤣 He loves watching me empty all the dust etc into the bin as well. 🤷♀️

Yes Beanie, a fellow Scot here in the lovely (ha ha) Wild West. 😂 My DH is from Englandshire and shamefully has been to more places in Scotland than me. 🙊 My DS has the funniest hybrid English/Scottish accent atm. 😂Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Oh I've been to a couple of places in Fife before. 🥳 🤣 My mum has cousins in Dundee but I still haven't made it there. 😂
My plan is to see more of our lovely country when the kids are bigger as there are so many places to visit, just have to ignore the four seasons in one day weather. Also midges don't like eating me so that's also an advantage. 😃Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. My sister came and cut my hair yesterday - it took her ages to thin it all out as it was so thick. You could have made a full wig from all the hair she cut. 😱 😂
DS had to be bribed with the Peter Rabbit movie ( he's currently obsessed with it and runs about saying "I put you in a pie, rabbit!") and some milky bar chocolate. He was still wriggling and trying to squirm away but my sister managed to do a decent job of it.
I gave her £20 because she worked hard on both of us. 😂 She didn't want to take it so I just transferred it to her bank. She's been worrying about the possibility of a lockdown because she's self-employed so if she can't work, she won't get paid. ☹️
I've been busy investigating reusable cloth nappies to use with DD ( and DS until he's toilet trained). They're quite expensive to set up with but then save money over time. 🤔 I have ordered one each of two different pocket nappies and some boosters and liners to try them out and see what I think. Even if I only used them at home/during the day it would still make a difference. Our bin is always overflowing due to the amount of disposable nappies we go through and it makes me feel bad.
Hoping to jump out to see my mum today with the kids before we have any kind of lockdown. No symptoms for any of us so far but have been sticking to home most of the time apart from DH who has to go to work. He managed to find baby milk the other day in the city centre so bought some to keep us going.
I've got the chiropractor tomorrow, I normally take DD with me but will just leave her at home with DH as a precaution. Good luck with the cloth nappies
If/when I ever have children I will definitely try them. I agree that even if you just used them at home, it will still be a big money saver and will saved so much going in the bin.3 -
Glad all is sounding good with you, apart from the chocolate shortage that is 😁 It's like me I rarely eat pasta but now you can't get it anywhere I really fancy making a veggie lasagne, I have 3 sheets at the back of the cupboard which won't go far. Having said that I notice fresh pasta is still available.
Great to hear all this talk of seeds and getting out into the garden, Spring has sprung.
I hope the cloth nappies work for you, cheaper in the long run and more environmentally friendly.
Have a good weekend.

Hi Velvet and SA, the cloth nappies arrived today although I only ordered a couple to check the fit/how we get on with them. They are seriously cute and come in loads of different patterns and colours. I've pre-washed them so just waiting for them to dry so I can try them on DD first of all as she'll be using them more than DS in the long run.
If we get on ok with them I'll order a few more so that we have enough to do at least a full day. It's recommended to get something like 15-20 nappies so that you can do alternate day washing but don't know if I could afford that many straight away, one of the brands I bought costs £15 for one nappy. In the long run they would save money but I would probably have to buy a few at a time and build up a stock that way.
I already use reusable wipes for the kids and have washable sanitary pads so cloth nappies really wouldn't be much of a stretch for me. I did think about it with DS but got overwhelmed with all the different types and also with being a first time mum so just didn't bother. Now I'm used to dealing with toddler poo 🤢 so it doesn't seem so bad. 🤣
I'm still trying to convince DS that he wants to use the big toilet but he's not having it. He's quite happy to sit on his wee seat on the toilet (the insert that stops him falling down it) but only when he's fully clothed. 😂 I'm not sure if he's ready for proper toilet training yet.
Went to my chiropractor appointment where the receptionist was busy wiping everything down and as soon as I walked in I was sent to wash my hands. They were taking the hygiene aspect very seriously which was reassuring.
Afterwards I went to the supermarket for a couple of things - the chocolate aisle was still wiped out!! As were carrots, flour, teabags and nearly all the onions too. I didn't even look at the alcohol or bread aisles as I'm sure they would have been similar. 😱 People are actually insane!
Got out into the garden later in the afternoon as it was actually sunny and dry and DS kept asking to go out. DS ran around and had a great time whilst I repotted my bigger sweet pea seedlings and the smaller dianthus and lobelia ones. Have started chitting the seed potatoes as well and think I'll have to re-sow the jalapeño seeds as still nothing happening with the previous ones.
DD slept 12 hours last night without waking for a feed. 😱 I still feel exhausted though but that's probably due to lack of sleep catching up with me. Even when I get to bed a bit earlier I can't sleep, I think my subconscious is worrying about all the virus stuff.
Stripped DS's bed and DD's Moses basket and did a washing each of their stuff as well today. DD is getting very long so some of her 3-6 month stuff is getting a bit tight/short on her. I've looked out some of DS's old 6-9 month size sleepsuits but only have a few vests so will have to buy some soon. I think they'll still be a touch big on her atm anyway.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780.
