Thanks Beanie. 😀
Yesterday I didn't get much done around the house except for some washing and doing the big cat litter clean out. I made a chicken curry for dinner with coconut rice (and froze the remainder as it makes enough rice for at least two-three meals) and used up the naan breads I had made and frozen a couple of weeks ago. They defrosted well in the microwave and tasted good so I'll do a double batch again next time I make them and freeze the extra for another day. The curry was nice but I'll double the quantities next time as there wasn't really enough for DH when he's in a hungry mood.
DH cleaned out the pump of the cat fountain and it's working again. 😀 So we don't need to buy a new one or even a new part for it. 👏 Just need to keep an eye on Big cat as he has some kind of vendetta against it and is always trying to break it/push it off the worktop. 🤣 🤷♀️ Big Cat has been really really naughty recently with attacking things/pushing them off the worktop/toppling things over (i.e. the bottle of baby milk I'd just made, which spilled EVERYWHERE. 😖) and stealing food. Old cat helped himself to half a packet of (cooked) supernoodles the other day as well. 😭 What have I done to deserve these devil cats?!
Today I took DD out with me to visit my friend who broke her wrist/arm last week when she fell whilst we were out. Part of her bone shattered and had to be replaced with a metal rod. 😱 She is all strapped up but still needs to go back next week to get the full cast on her wrist etc once the swelling has gone down. Looks like she'll be off work for quite some time and she's really struggling with only having one hand.
I was very MSE and checked my stock of cards and found a get well card for my friend and took her some nice cheese in wax that I had bought for myself (but not opened) and a box of crackers from my cupboard (again unopened!). So I saved myself some money by not dropping into the supermarket on my way to visit her. She loves cheese and I thought I'd rather give her something she would eat/use.
DH took DS out for a walk to the Braes looking for Highland cows (sadly didn't find any, boo!). I made sure DS was well wrapped up with a t-shirt and jumper, trousers, socks, then welly socks on top, a puddle suit, hat, scarf and then his wellies. DH thought it was overkill but DS still has the cold so I didn't want him getting worse.
DH said DS had a great time and they walked for about 45 mins! Then came home via the airport so they could look at some planes.
I was giving DD a bath tonight and had left the baby oil on the side (top still on but loosened) and yes, you guessed it, DS got a hold of it and was joyfully squirting it everywhere. 😱 Luckily it was mostly in/around the bath but it's just typical he went for it and it was the one time I left it sitting with the top loose. Oh well at least it wasn't all over the floor and he didn't escape with it to a carpeted area. 😱
Housework tally today was sorting/folding some washing after taking it out of the TD, washing some dishes and hoovering the living room. I really need to get out to the greenhouse to get a seed tray and some compost so that I can sow my sweet peas and lobelia. I think I have some other seeds to sow as well but can't remember what they are atm. Will need to see which chilli seeds we have as well - we still have a good stock of cayenne chillis from 2018 in the freezer and a good amount of birds' eye ones from last year too. I mostly use them for cooking, especially the cayennes as they generally aren't as hot as the birds' eye.
DS has started wanting to sit at the table rather than in his high chair but he still needs to sit on a cushion to reach the table comfortably. This is actually good as it means we'll be able to use the high chair for DD once she's able to hold herself up a bit more in the next couple of months. My mum pretended to sit DD in the highchair last month and DS went crackers, screaming and crying that it was his and she wasn't to sit in it. 🤣 So hopefully he'll get over that by the time she's actually ready to use it.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Aw Sashy, it no wonder you get a bit stressed what with the 3 children and the possessed cats plus random annoying visitors
I had to laugh at DS losing it when someone else set in his highchair. Hilarious2 -

😂 Velvet it was pretty funny when DS got so annoyed over my mum pretending to sit DD in the highchair, he was actually raging. He loses it over the daftest things atm and if I dare to leave his sight without permission I'm in trouble but he's allowed to run away from me at every opportunity. 🤷♀️ 🤣
Honeysuckle, a cat fountain is really just a fancy drinking bowl for cats. It has a pump so that the water is flowing rather than still, which a lot of cats seem to prefer. We have this one and Old cat loves it but Big cat is very suspicious of it and splashes in it/attacks it at every opportunity. 👀 😂Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Maybe I just know a lot of weird cats 😂 but quite a lot like drinking from taps/running water rather than a normal bowl. We got one to try and encourage our cats to drink more and it definitely works for Old cat. As I said Big cat just seems to want to attack it but he does drink from it as well. 🤷♀️Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. The weather was crazy again today - howling wind all night and most of the morning and then sunshine/rain/hail and snow on rotation for most of the day. 🤷♀️ We stayed in and DH has sanded and painted the skirting boards and door in the room DS will be moving into. Hoping to do a bit of painting in there tomorrow but we'll see.
Got the jumperoo out for DD today and she loved it, although struggled to keep her head up for long. I had to sit behind her and help support her head, kept her in there for 10 mins and DS was playing with all the spinning toys which she loved watching. 😊 DS did try to push her out and climb in himself at one point though. 🤦♀️ 🤣 He actually listened for once though when I told him he was too big and it was for the baby. He contented himself with playing with the toys on it and making his sister laugh. They are so lovely to watch sometimes, she just smiles as soon as she sees him and he loves making her laugh. 💕
My brother, his gf and the two girls came round for a couple of hours. DS loves his cousins but he always tries to cuddle them and my niece nearest him in age (she's 3 and a half) really hates it. They bickered constantly and were only nice to each other when she was leaving and had a kiss and a cuddle. 🤣 They were standing talking toddler babble to each other, although my niece was astounded that DS could talk. 🤷♀️ 🤣 This niece has a bit of speech delay due to being very premature at birth, so her level of speech is not much more than my DS's who is 10 months younger than her. She is so bright though, she's all there and round the corner, just doesn't speak as fluently/clearly as the majority of kids her age. She kept calling me my sister's name though 😆, she knows me but always forgets my name. 🤣
Don't think we'll be up to much tomorrow, DH will try to crack on with DS's new room whilst I try to keep the kids occupied. I want to try and get some seeds sown tomorrow but who knows if that will happen.

The bad news first, have had to take £2k out on a 0% cash transfer from my CC to get us out of our overdraft and back on an even keel. 😩 The new overdraft charges were going to cripple us at £30+ every month.
This way we pay £30 odd once for the transfer fee and then the rest of our monthly payment will be off the balance. Not ideal but we have an issue for 6 months of the year of being in our O/D almost as soon as we're paid due to being paid 4 weekly but all the bills being monthly. Our pay date moves around all the time so it's hard to spread the bills out. ☹️ We've just never been able to sort this out properly and not sure what the answer is.
Obviously being on SMP isn't helping as it's half my usual wage but will be back at work properly in August.
I managed to get some seeds sown on Sunday - dianthus, sweet pea, lobelia and some jalapeños. Looks like there are shoots from some of the sweet peas and dianthus so far. 😁 My seed potatoes should be delivered in the next week or two as well.
My mum came up on Monday and watched the kids for us so that we could paint DS's new room. We've just kept it white but wanted to freshen it up a bit. I've got some transport wall stickers, so cars, buses etc that we can put on once we have the furniture set up.
DH cleaned the carpet the other day so we should be able to get the bed and chest of drawers put together today. We will need to get a wardrobe eventually as there isn't a built in one in that room but it's not urgent as most of DS's clothes will fit in the drawers and we can use the wardrobe in DD's room if necessary.
We have ordered a plain roller blind and have a velcro blackout blind to put behind it. Thinking about getting some curtains but again it's not urgent, I've seen some that match the duvet set DS has (with cars/buses etc) but I think they're quite pricey at £35/40 and don't know if it's worth it.
Had my smear test yesterday and I was slightly dreading it but it was absolutely fine and the nurse was lovely. I was talking to her about coming off the pill and she suggested trying the coil or maybe the implant or injection instead. I'm thinking that the injection might be a good idea in the meantime as it lasts for 3 months and I'm hoping to come off contraception if DH goes ahead and gets the snip. Worth thinking about anyway.
Have stripped the bed and have the sheets in the washing now and DH is off for his eye test(!) and a hair cut. Need to put DD's stuff in the wash next.
Both DS & DD are still struggling with the cold so are quite grumpy and DD had her last lot of vaccinations on Tuesday as well. 😭 DD waking up a lot overnight as well again after sleeping 8 hours for a few nights in a row - she was obviously just lulling me into a false sense of security. 😂
DS is saying new words every day, the other morning he told me "This is the kitchen" with his hands spread like a tiny estate agent. 😂 I also got "Godsake mummy" when I dropped something. 🙊 Obviously something I say too much. 👀 His other rather cute one is "Oh dear, oh dear". 😊
He has finally started calling Big cat by his name rather than cat but this has coincided with a new campaign of cat harassment where DS keeps pulling his tail or grabbing his paws. 😩 DS just thinks it's hilarious and nothing I do or say will stop him doing it. Big cat has started giving him warning bites if he persists which seems to put DS off so I try to keep a close eye on them both. Poor Big cat is so patient and good with DS, Old cat just runs away and won't let DS near him. He experienced my older nephews and nieces as toddlers!Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780.
