Hi Moneywhizz, thanks for popping in. :hello:
The council I'm under does cover a big area but they're so unorganised it's unreal! Getting no sense out of them does sound familiar. :rotfl:
They just shoehorned 3 weekly collections of general waste in last year although no one wanted it and it doesn't work! Every one of my neighbour's bins are overflowing with only having a collection every 3 weeks and most people with kids have had to buy a second bin and still don't have enough room in them.
The council's reply was, oh if people use their recycling bins properly then 3 weeks is fine for general waste - no it's not! We use every single recycling bin - blue for paper, green for glass and plastics and brown for garden and food waste and our grey bin is still overflowing like everyone else's.
Your grandson does sound like my DS - he definitely plays up big time for me but is generally great for everyone else! He's even good for his daddy but as soon as I walk in the door he starts whining and being badly behaved!
I went for a shower the other day and he spent the whole time at the baby gate (which I had to put on to stop him following me) downstairs crying for me and shouting on me. It's so hard not to get stressed! DD not so bad at the minute as she's not on the move yet and just sits in her bouncy chair or lies on her mat smiling and laughing. :rotfl:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Hurray for the bin appearing...hope they empty it promptly for you too.
Have you tried reins with DS or one of those backpack type arrangements that gives you an extended lead. I found with one DS that turning it into a game of horses took his mind off the fact that I had the handle of the reins to stop him dashing off. Buggy boards used to be popular, don't know if they still are, which allows the toddler to stand and get a ride but can be flipped up when they are happy to walk.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . MM, I definitely think we are in the same council, all sounds so familiar. Yes your Ds sounds like a carbon copy of my grandson. Keeps all the bad behaviour for mum and she finds it so stressful taking him out with his little sister. Some kids are just wired differently and it is a real challenge managing their behaviour. Roll on the summer when he can get out more even if it is in the garden.1

Hi everyone - after all that moaning the council turned up this morning, emptied the new bin and took away the bags that wouldn't fit and had to be left sitting next to it. :j indeed Beanie. :rotfl:
Finally! Still atrocious service though - nearly a month without a bin and a huge pile of bin bags having to sit in the garden/on the driveway.
Honeysuckle, reins help a bit with DS but when he's really determined he just keeps pulling and nearly takes me and the pram over. Or he just stops moving and sits down on the ground refusing to move! Funnily enough friends of ours have given us a buggy board, I'll need to figure out how to attach it to the pram and see if DS will entertain it as I think it would be quite useful.
Moneywhizz, I can't wait to get back into the garden. DS has lots of toys to keep him busy so that I can hopefully get on with my own gardening. He did kill a few seedlings last year though when I was trying to repot so will need to remember to try and keep them away from him.
DS was actually pretty well behaved today but that was probably because his daddy was at home. DH is working early shifts starting tomorrow so will see what DS decides to do then. Hopefully I can get out to see my mum at some point this week, helps me out and gives DS some time out of the house.
If my friend is able to meet me I might even brave taking DS to soft play again.
Not much done housework wise today, I got a bath caddy delivered to store DS's bath toys in over the bath and it's made it so much tidier in there. :T DH was measuring space in the new room and looking at getting it all wired up (computers/printers etc). Hopefully we can start getting it sorted at the end of the week when DH finishes work for his annual leave.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Hi all, not liking this new layout atm.
It's not very intuitive in terms of what to do/how to use. Plus where are the little jumping people and the rofl emoji.
DH had a productive first day off work by building shelving units for his shed. That means he can move/unpack quite a few of the things stored upstairs in the room that we will be moving DS into.
I managed to hoover the living room, make an apple & cinnamon loaf cake to use up some wrinkly apples and make cheesy beef quesadillas for dinner. So many things I need to do around the house but DD is quite cranky and clingy just now, she is teething but still no teeth through yet.
DS has been a bit calmer this week but still super clingy with me and not wanting DH, having to be pulled away screaming etc if I'm dealing with DD at bedtime.
Managed to cash out £21 from PA, so have put another £10 into my EF, taking it to £210.
Meant to be going out for lunch on Tuesday with friends from work but heard there might be snow.I really hope not, hate the stuff when I need to be out and about.

Struggling with this layout on my phone - it’s okay-ish on my iPad but really difficult on the phone. Almost impossible to find bookmarked (subscribed) threads on the phone. 😡
DH managed to get the boxes of stuff that will be living in the shed out there yesterday before the weather started going horrible. He still needs to unpack them but at least they’re out of the room where we were storing them.
That room still has quite a few things in it though for the new room downstairs. DH is currently wiring/trunking cables for the computer & his (several) printers in the new room so most stuff won’t be moving until things are set up.We can move some of the stuff from the spare room in there though like DS’s new bed (still flat packed) & mattress. Will also move DD’s clothes in there for now as DH has (another 🙄) visitor coming to stay with us next week. This time it’s his weird friend rather than his weird parents though.I like most of DH’s friends but this guy is very odd. He’s very socially awkward & naive/gullible. Not helped by being very visually impaired & having hearing aids. That’s not what makes him odd, it just makes it more difficult for him to communicate at times. He still struggles to understand me & I’ve known him (through DH) for about 16 years.
I think the weirdest thing is his Disney obsession & the doll collecting. 🤷🏻♀️ DH feels sorry for him & invites him to stay with us once a year (without asking me 👀). I’m worried he’s going to fall over one of the kids as he can’t see very well & is quite clumsy as a result. 😮Major disaster yesterday (according to DH) something to do with his pc monitor and the arm holding it, blah blah. Long story short, it won’t hold it now, the back thingy on the monitor is broken, can’t just buy a replacement part & the stand is no use for him as can’t adjust the height (so he would be hunched down trying to see properly) so he needs a new monitor. 🙄
DH was busy for a good part of the afternoon having a sh*t fit about this, then spent the rest of the time researching a new monitor.
Housework wise I managed to hoover upstairs but not yet managed to do the actual stairs. Got a washing of DS’s stuff done & that’s about it.Made sweet & sour chicken for dinner and used up the rest of the coconut rice in the freezer to go with it. DS loves this dinner, he was even eating the peppers & onions as well as the pineapple, rice and chicken. 🥳 It’s a really simple recipe, the only bit that takes time is shallow frying the chicken in its batter. Will need to go out to get some teething powder for DD but might do that tomorrow as going to the chiropractor anyway. 🤔 Depends on the weather really as it’s wet & windy just now but not awful.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Sorry you've got another visitor Sashy
how long is he there for?
Fingers crossed you catch a break soon.1 -
db, my DH just loves tech - he has a laser printer/scanner combo, a separate photo printer (just...because ? 🤷♀️ No, apparently it's better for photos), a label printer and a 3D printer to top the rest. He has ordered his new monitor and it's arriving tomorrow so he's a bit happier but still p'd off with the current one being broken at the back.
Velvet, the odd visitor is here from tomorrow night until Friday morning. 😱 My Valentines morning will be spent with him, DH and the kids. 🤣
My chiropractor appointment was cancelled today as my chiropractor was stranded down south due to the weather. It was crazy up here, snow, rain, hail then sun and then it all repeated again. Getting windy again now as well. 😭
I took DS & DD out to my aunt's house today and picked my mum up on the way. My aunt was watching her twin grandsons who are 6 months older than my DS. They all had a great time together and surprisingly there was no fighting or crying. DS and his cousin who is closest in age to him (she's 10 months older) do nothing but fight when they're together!
The twins were really good about sharing their toys with DS and he really enjoyed seeing them.DD just loved my aunt and was smiling and laughing away at her which was nice to see. She's such a happy wee soul and just loves people, like her brother. 💕
DH made more progress with the new room and has moved more boxes downstairs. Tomorrow morning he's going to move some things out of the spare room into what will be DS's new room and we're also moving DD's clothes in there so it's easier whilst the visitor is here (as her clothes are currently in the spare room).
Tomorrow a couple of my friends from work are coming over to see the kids for an hour or so and then we're going out for lunch. They're both working early shift the next day so it won't be a late night.
DH is taking his visitor out for the day on Wednesday so at least I'll have peace then, I only have to deal with one full day of him really.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
