db, my DH just loves tech - he has a laser printer/scanner combo, a separate photo printer (just...because ? 🤷♀️ No, apparently it's better for photos), a label printer and a 3D printer to top the rest. He has ordered his new monitor and it's arriving tomorrow so he's a bit happier but still p'd off with the current one being broken at the back.
re the photo printer though, it's generally agreed that they are very expensive per print. - i have one capable of doing it, but yet always do online printing. and get discounts on say 1-10 prints £50p each. but they go down to pennies in volume.

Ah db, god knows with the photo printer, DH doesn't often use it to be honest. 👀 🤣
I had a nice day with my friends from work, DH & DD enjoyed seeing them and then we had a nice lunch out. Unfortunately it came to am abrupt end around 7pm when one of my friends fell over (we weren't that drunk, she forgot there was a step down from our seats to the main bar area) and landed on her wrist. 😱 Said wrist was a funny shape and my friend said straight away "it's broken". So we got a taxi to A&E and I was sent home by my other friend who stayed with broken wrist friend. ☹️ Looks like she might need an operation. This friend has had really bad luck with her health in the last year/18 months so really the last thing she needed was to break her wrist. 😔

So my poor friend is in hospital after having surgery on her wrist today, she should be getting out tomorrow but will probably be a long recovery for her. She's my job share partner and will be freaking out worrying about work due to the absence policies, she's had a lot of ill health in the last year so has been off work a lot. ☹️
DS hasn't been very well today, he has hardly eaten anything and not drank as much as I would like either. He's got a bit of a temperature so has been dosed up on children's paracetamol but I had to fight with him to get him to take it both times. Ended up having to push the syringe/squirter thingy in the side of his cheek and just skoosh it in. ☹️ I gave him a bath and he was asleep before he even got into bed, fell asleep with me cuddling him, poor boy. I really worry when he doesn't eat as he usually never stops eating so I know he really must not be feeling good.
I've been feeling a bit delicate today as made the mistake of drinking wine yesterday and it really doesn't agree with me. I had a banging headache and had to get up twice in the night for paracetamol.
DH stayed up until 4:30am this morning with his friend who is visiting. 😱 They went out drinking at lunchtime and god knows when they will roll in tonight. DH will probably take him to the casino which is basically open all hours so I'm not holding my breath on seeing them any time soon. 👀 I'll not be happy with DH if he's at all grumpy or snappy with the kids tomorrow because he's tired since it's all self-inflicted.
When I got up this morning I discovered that the cats now know how to open the bread bin. 😱 Nooooo. They had pulled several things out, eaten a few sandwich thins and had a try of a hot cross bun as well! 😡 Why do I have such weird delinquent cats? Other people's cats don't work out how to open things to steal food!! I don't know if the bread bin raiding will be a regular thing that means I'll have to move the bread bin into a cupboard at night but it probably will be the case. 😔
Have been feeling a bit down and fed up recently, not helped by DH being a bit huffy because he feels left out and like he gets no attention. I honestly feel like I have 5 kids sometimes - 2 actual kids, 2 furry (& delinquent) kids and 1 apparently grown up kid (DH). I went back on to the pill last month and I feel like my mood has taken a nosedive since. I know my sister was on the same brand and it caused her to be really depressed, she's recently switched to another pill so I might go back to the Dr and ask to be changed to another brand as well. I don't want to take this one anymore, going to stop and see if my mood improves.
I also need to make an appointment for a smear test as had an abnormal result from my last one in October 2018. I was meant to be re-tested April 2019 but was pregnant with DD by then. My GP said I could have a smear 3 months after giving birth but I'm sure the midwife said 6 months after. 🤔 I'm confused.
I actually need to make another appointment with my chiropractor as the last one was cancelled and I have a voucher to use for a local beauty therapist so I need to decide what treatment I'd like and make an appointment for that too. I think I'll get some kind of massage as I need to relax a bit. I usually end up falling asleep when I get a massage there - a bit embarrassing when you wake yourself up snoring in the middle of a treatment. 🤣
Think I'll head to bed shortly as I expect DS will wake up a few times in the night due to not feeling too well and obviously DD wakes for a feed at least once but usually twice at the moment.

Sorry, but I am chuckling at the thought of your cats opening the bread bin & sampling the contents!
Where is thatsmiley!

Sorry to hear you're feeling fed up Sashy
big hugs xxx I do think you should go back to the Dr and ask for a different pill. I hope your visitor goes home soon so you can get a break.
You're not the only one with a delinquent cat that steals bread. Mine will try and eat anything that's left out on the counter and will ever drink your tea or coffee if you're not paying attention2 -
Ah Beanie, if I didn't laugh about the naughty cats I'd cry! They are just unreal with their interest in human food! I turned the bread bin round last night so that the back was facing out and that seems to have stymied them for now. 🤷♀️ 🤣
Thanks Velvet, I think I'll book in for a smear test first (which is with the nurse) as they always want you to have a current (clear) test before prescribing the pill. Will definitely go back and speak to the Dr after that though, she is very nice and I'm sure will be helpful. I only saw this particular Dr once before as needed to see a female Dr & my usual one is a man. Quite happy to switch between them now though as she was lovely as well.Only problem will be actually getting the appointments!
My DH is seriously considering a vasectomy which would be good as it would mean I could stop using hormonal birth control. I've been on the pill since I was 17 pretty much non-stop, obviously excepting pregnancies etc. I definitely think it affects my mood big time when I'm taking it, definitely happier off it.
DH's visitor is going home tomorrow morning. Where's the jumping smilie when you need it? He's been....odd but not too annoying. DS loves him and keeps asking for cuddles, 🤷♀️ which visitor gives awkwardly. 🤣 The cats also like him so obviously he can't be a horrible person (just annoying & quite weird) as animals and children are generally good judges of character.
Poor DS still not very well today and wanting a lot of mummy cuddles. There was a lot of tired screaming as well in the afternoon because he wanted to watch tv but didn't know what he wanted to watch so just screamed. Managed to get him to have 2 naps and think that helped. At one point I was trapped on the couch under DS and DD napping on me and couldn't move.
Made minestrone soup for dinner and an olive loaf in the breadmaker which was yum. Made fruit cobbler and twinks hobnobs for afterwards so had a good dinner with ingredients that needed used up as well. DS managed to eat more than he has for the last day as well which was good.
Cashed out from youg0v last night and had the money in my account this morning. 😁 Also cashed out £5 from another site. Have moved £10 to EF & £12 towards saving for new flooring in the living room, might also pay some extra off DH's big loan.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Velvet, forgot to say how funny that your cat even samples tea and coffee. 🤣 My big cat does that sometimes but old cat is offended by the strong smells. My cats love everything they're not meant to have - they even ate egg yolks the other day. 🤷♀️ DH needed egg whites and put the yolks to one side, forgot about them and when I came back the dish was sparkling clean as though they'd never been there. DH has gone to stay with his friend tonight (see what I mean about another child?) and left me to it with the actual kids. Bit fed up of him just disappearing all the time to be honest, we have a million things to get done in the house and it's difficult enough without him having visitors/going out with his friends/going to stay with his friends. He certainly can't complain that he doesn't get enough time to himself!
Still feeling fed up and not looking forward to a night in by myself, don't really have anything planned. ☹️ Will just try and relax after the kids are in bed I suppose.
Glad to get the house back to ourselves yesterday and DH tried sooking up by buying me flowers for Valentine's Day. We got some food from M&S for our dinner as had a gift voucher so didn't cost us anything.
Need to try and get the food spending under control as we've just not been keeping an eye on it at all. Hopefully won't need to buy too much this week, we have lots in the freezer and cupboards so should be able to make quite a few dinners.
Have started going through my books as have quite a few that I can get rid of, have done the first sift and already removed around 20. I'm sure there will be more I can let go too.
Have only done one load of washing so far today (did two yesterday) and have at least one more to stick on. Doubt I'll get anything much else done.
The rain has been non-stop today, think there will be flooding, glad we live on top of a big hill. Mind you it's not that when it's icy 🥶 as then we're stuck. 🤣
Have booked my chiropractor appointment for next week but not managed to make any other appointments.
DS has picked up a lot today but he seems to have the cold instead now. Will give him a hot bath before bedtime.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Well after my last post my mum came up to keep me company whilst DH was out at his friends and we were going over some of her finances as she's hoping to retire later this year.
She won't get her state pension for another 6 years 😱 and her work pension won't be enough to live on alone so she will still have to work bank shifts for a few years. The difference is though that she will only have to do 4 shifts a month rather than 12 and she'll be able to pick and choose when/where to work.
I think she gets retirement preparation classes etc beforehand so that might help her with thinking about where to put her lump sum. She will be able pay off the debt she has and will still have around three quarters of her lump sum left. She rents so doesn't have a mortgage she can use the lump sum to pay and wants to have an emergency but not too accessible fund. I said probably an ISA but something to look into as she doesn't want to waste it (she is a spender). She had sat and worked out all her outgoings so knows where she needs to cut down. Once her debt is paid off she will be in a better position anyway and she wants to buy a phone outright and then just pay for a SIM only plan as it works out cheaper over time.
At least she's thinking about it and being sensible. I'm definitely going to start making extra contributions from my pay into my pension fund once I'm back at work. The pension contribution from my wage on job share is absolutely dire. Even an extra £10 p/w will make a big difference (paid 4 weekly).
I will actually need to arrange to go into work in the next month or so to speak to them about when I want to go back. My SMP finishes at the end of June so I'm hoping to do one KIT day a week in July then possibly back to my two days from the start of August. I'm in a holiday block with annual leave for the last 2 weeks of August (when DS will be starting nursery) so I'm thinking if I go back to work at the start of August then I'll be paid for my annual leave as well. Need to check that though. 🤔
DS is only just getting over his cold and poor DD has it now. She woke up yesterday all snotty and with red eyes, poor wee thing was still smiling away though, she is such a happy wee soul most of the time now. 😀Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Had to split my post as it was getting very long there!
Went out with DH yesterday for a nice lunch and had a nice time but felt really tired and a bit down. DH is being paranoid and thinks I'm not interested in him anymore but I just seem to be in a bit of a slump and am struggling to pull myself out of it.
DD has slept 8 hours for 2 nights in a row! 🥳 Wonder what she'll do tonight. Even though I'm getting more sleep I feel more tired though. Need to get back into my yoga, that will probably help both my energy and my mood.
Went to the chiropractor at the start of the week and my back/pelvis really did need adjusting. I was quite sore when I came home again - not helped by being soaked in one of the many rain showers - it was only a 5 minute walk from the chiropractor back to my car but the rain was just so heavy it went straight through my coat. I was jealous of DD in her buggy with the rain cover. 🤣 I had already been soaked twice that morning when I took DS shopping with me, he loves just getting out of the house even if it is just to the supermarket!
DH managed to list quite a few things on eb@y this weekend with the max £1 listing and sold it all. 🥳 All the money made has been paid off things he has bought using payp@l credit 😱 but he still has his new PC monitor to pay off. Fortunately it's 0% until June and he has found a few more things to sell at the next £1 listing. Wish we could have used the money for our main debts rather than the debt he has run up (doing what?buying what? 😡) but at least it's paid something off and not been wasted on buying yet more cr*p.
Hoping to empty the room DS will be moving into and get it prepped to paint by the end of the week. Need to order a roller blind and get our carpet cleaner back from my brother. My brother and his gf are taking a bookcase we no longer have room for though so we can do a swap and it's one less thing cluttering upstairs. I think I'll be able to get most of the books onto the bookcase in the guest room but will go through and see if there are more I can let go of first.
I've booked an appointment for a smear test next week (boo but needs to be done, fingers crossed it comes back clear this time or I might need to get another in 6 months or will be referred up to the hospital for a check with the gynaecologist - had that before, the Dr was very nice but it was very undignified 🤣 Not that I'm terribly bothered after having two babies to be fair 🤔 ). Just need to try and make an appointment for a massage, going out for lunch (again!) next week with my mum and sister too. 😊
Have reminded DH a hundred times to book an appointment for an (extremely overdue) eye test and contact lens check and just get the usual "yeah yeah" so I give up - they're his eyes! 🙄Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
