    Hi Honeysuckle :hello:

Our joiner (who is project managing/doing the bulk of the work) is hoping to have the work completed by the end of January at the latest. We need to wait for the plasterer to be available & also the brickie towards the end.

Really looking forward to it as once that room is done we can get the room we want to move DS into emptied & decorated, then DS can go into his toddler bed.

Need to measure & price for blinds for that room as well actually and buy another blackout blind to go behind them. The blackout blind in DS’s current room is pretty good - it’s one of the ones that you buy then cut to size & it attaches/detaches with Velcro round the window frame. Then we have the roller blind which looks nicer & for extra coverage.

I think that’s all we really need to get for DS’s new room apart from a bookcase and some glow in the dark stars for his ceiling. We’ve already bought his bed & mattress, chest of drawers, lightshade, wall stickers & an ottoman for storing his bed linen/spare duvet & pillow and towels.

The only problem with getting this work done is that it’s making us want to get everything else done like the flooring in the living room, new couches and a new front door. They’re all things that can wait though, wants rather than needs.

Also looking forward to getting the spare room cleared of everything stored in there. MIL still insisting on visiting mid-January, which DH agreed to even though the conversion probably won’t be finished. She’ll just have to sleep in the spare room surrounded by boxes of stuff plus DD’s clothes. *shrugs* No doubt there will be complaints that she has no room & has to climb over stuff. Best I can do is a clear-ish path from the door to the bed and she can like it or lump it.

Oh forgot to mention the weird PIL’s latest (apart from criticising every decision we make regarding the garage conversion).

It’s been confirmed that they didn’t bother telling the friends they’ve fallen out with about our DD being born (or even that we were having her).

Apparently PIL have not spoken to them for a year since their friends (who they’ve known probably 40 odd years) basically declined to take their bullsh!t any more. I.e. When visiting & staying with PIL having to do everything to their schedule and not disrupt their routine, no matter how inconvenient it is to anyone else.

Apart from anything else though, these friends are people DH has know his whole life and are more like an aunt & uncle to him. I think it’s pretty bad of the PIL not to have told them about DD. It only occurred to me that they might not know when we didn’t get a card or hear from them after DD was born & I asked DH to find out if they knew.

In typical man fashion it took until we were writing the Christmas cards for him to get round to it. Anyway we sent them a card (with a picture of DS & DD on it and a note of DD’s name and DOB) and received a card the next day, obviously sent before ours reached them - addressed to us & DS.

So annoyed with the PIL for being so petty. I actually get on with this couple much better than I do with the PIL (not that that’s difficult as PIL are so awkward and stuck in their ways). Both MIL & FIL are getting increasingly stubborn over silly things as they get older but have always been bossy and controlling in any case.

Yep Beanie, families indeed. My PIL just get stranger with age.

Got the bathrooms cleaned, bed stripped & sheets washed and the living room hoovered yesterday (DH did the hoovering). Could do with hoovering upstairs today.

Of course there were a couple of things missing/substituted in our food delivery yesterday (turkey stuffing crisp balls instead of pretzels anyone?). So will need to nip out later to get a few things from Mr M but not much. Our local Mr M is open from 6am until midnight tonight. The poor staff! At least they close at 6pm on Christmas Eve though.

DH started work at half 4 this morning so he'll be home around 1pm, although he's going to the butcher's to collect our turkey crown so might be a bit later. I'll go to Mr M's later on, maybe once the kids are in bed around half 7, as it might be quieter then.

Have been quite achey after my yoga the other night, mostly in my arms though. Will try and do some more tonight or tomorrow as I really need to build my core strength back up.

Well, Mr M's was still pretty busy and there were whole shelves bare. It's absolutely bonkers! The spirits aisle looked like it had been raided, it was so empty!

I only needed a few things plus a gift card for my nephew and his girlfriend. They are only 18 and live together so I got them a Nando's gift card so they can get out for a meal as well as a throw and some toiletries.

Used the £10 worth of more vouchers we had saved so that took a bit off the total.

I also remembered to buy a few things for the food bank collection trolley in Mr M's. After reading about the food bank on Beanie's diary I kept meaning to do it but kept forgetting as the trolley is on the way out next to the customer service desk. I did remember today though and picked up some tinned fruit, rice pudding, the Mr M version of angel delight and some instant pasta and noodles packets. It wasn't much but I'm glad I finally remembered and will try to get a few things next time as well.

Had a fairly lazy day today and tomorrow will probably be the same.

DS still isn't himself, very grumpy and crying at the drop of a hat. :( We watched a couple of kids' films and some fireman Sam today as that's his current obsession. He cheered up a bit when he got to watch the bin lorry out of the window too.

DS is picking up so many words all the time now, his favourite expressions are "Oh Dear!" "I'm stucky stucky stuck!" And "Come Back!" (Which he says just before he runs away from me). :rotfl:

Still need to wrap a couple of DH's presents so will do that in the morning.

DD slept a bit better last night, wasn't up every hour like a few nights ago and even managed 3 hours straight. :j She's making a lot of sounds now and shouts every now and again too just to hear herself. :rotfl: She's really starting to look around and is already fascinated by the cats walking past (or running if DS is nearby).

Getting lots of smiles all the time, she's very content and just loves her big brother despite his terrible habit of sticking his face right in hers and then "cuggling" her by putting his head on top of her stomach/chest when she's in the bouncy chair.

I still haven't done the ironing. My big cat has now claimed the pile as his new bed.:rotfl:
