Hi Honeysuckle, yes DD has been putting on weight consistently & following the curve (think she was 75th percentile) but hasn't been weighed for 2 weeks now. HV has been off sick so didn't get a visit last week, hopefully someone will come out this week.
Not getting DD's 6 week check with the GP this week, for some reason they've given her an appointment when she's 8 weeks. Again, haven't been able to see the HV to query this. Didn't even get a letter about the appointment until I phoned up & asked why I hadn't had one.
Also can't get an appointment for my own 6 week check, will have to try phoning on the day I want as I need a double appt. My GP surgery has been so unhelpful & useless for my whole pregnancy & now DD is here they seem worse. Receptionists are so uninterested & just tell you to phone on the day. That's a nightmare as half the time you can't get through.
I changed DD's milk over & first dirty nappy definitely had thicker poo. She now hasn't had a dirty nappy since Monday around 8am so hoping she's not constipated.Gave her a tummy massage & warm bath tonight so hoping it will help her to go. I feel like I'm obsessed with her bowel movements.
:rotfl:
Gave the kitchen worktops a good clean and tidy on Sunday and it looks much better in there now. Yesterday I was out at the chiropractor and it was still -1C after 10am, it was something like -6 overnight. Bundled DS & DD right up when we had to go out and had to defrost the car before getting them out of bed as didn't want to leave them alone together whilst I was out at the car. DS loves DD but doesn't understand that she's not a doll and that he has to be careful when he's cuddling her etc.
Didn't go anywhere today, just stayed in the warmth although it was slightly warmer during the day.
Nothing done housework wise apart from putting a washing on and putting one away as well as the usual dish washing etc. Had a 2hr nap when DH got home from work and he watched the kids.
No plans for tomorrow but will try to get out of the house for both mine & DS's sake. My mum fell and hurt her bad knee a few days ago (as well as bruising all her face & breaking a small bone in her wrist ) so she's off work atm. Might see if she feels up to a short trip out. She's probably sick of the sight of us though as have been down there so often lately.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Have been a bit rubbish at updating again although I've been trying to keep up with reading other diaries.
DD has resumed normal pooing but still seems a bit sore after a bottle so will keep an eye on her. HV is coming out this week to see her and also to give DS his development check-up as he's almost 2 and a half (already!).
Got an appointment through for DD's first immunisation.I hate taking them for the injections.
It's the same day as her "6" week check (although she'll be 8 weeks) but an hour beforehand so will be rushing about that morning. Luckily DH is on annual leave that week so he can take DS to the park or keep him otherwise occupied.
Went out yesterday for lunch with DH as my mum offered to come up to ours and watch th kids for the afternoon. :j We went to a nice Italian restaurant and had the lunch menu of 3 courses for £12.95 pp. Ended up spending about £55 between us including drinks and tip, pretty reasonable really.
Had a wander around the local M&S outlet shop and got a much needed leather belt for DH for £5, a bralet for me for £5 and also found some bibs and booties for DD for £1.49 and 99p respectively. Also bought a large mandarin, cinnamon & clove candle for £6.50. Best part was that I was able to use a gift voucher that I'd gotten from one of my survey sites so didn't cost us any "real" money. :T
We had a couple of drinks in the pub then headed home and were back for just after 5pm. Was nice to have a break from the wee ones and just be on our own.
Unfortunately I obviously ate too much (or maybe it was the alcohol although we only had 4 drinks) but I woke up about 2am with a really sore stomach.DH had to get up with the kids as it was so painful that I couldn't move. I wasn't sick but still sore now, although better than it was.
Plans for today for me are dealing with the washing and the kids and DH is going to go and clear more of the garage out. My mum is coming up for her dinner later and we were thinking of taking DS to see the Christmas lights before collecting her. Depends on the weather though as if it's too wet we won't bother.
I still need to plant the bulbs in the front garden.:o I also need to pot some heather and cotoneaster that I bought reduced from Mr M's last week. Might be able to do that tomorrow.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Thanks Beanie.
Yesterday I managed to give the spare room a quick tidy so it doesn't look like an explosion in a baby clothes factory.:rotfl: Keeping DD's stuff in there until DS has moved into his new room and we can move her stuff into the room he's in now.
Have got a light shade & wall stickers for DS's new room, want to get some glow in the dark stars & moon for his ceiling too. Need to measure for a blind and need to order a blackout blind too but no rush as DS won't be moving in there until the garage conversion has been done (hoping to start in the next week or so). Got a voucher through for £10 off a £70 or more spend in ikea so can use that when we buy a chest of drawers.
Got a Black Friday deal on a mattress for the bed I bought for DS at my mum's house - £79 instead of £130. :T Have already bought the duvet & pillow for it.
Poor DS has the cold now & isn't feeling great, he kept waking last night and tonight will probably be the same.
Have had a quiet day with DS & DD today as we didn't have anywhere we needed to be.
Reorganised one of the kitchen cupboards as got some storage caddies I'd ordered to keep the top shelf tidy. The shelf was a mess and I couldn't see what was up there unless I used a stool to stand on. Found a few duplicate things like pasta and noodles - not too bad as they'll be used but at least I wont buy more when it's not needed.
Also tidied the cutlery drawer by using two drawer organisers as well as the cutlery tray. Hopefully it will stay a lot neater now.
A few washings put on/dried/put away as well.
Cashed out £23 from PA and another £5 voucher from SB. Used £15 of vouchers towards a duvet set for DS's bed at my mum's house & another book for his Christmas.
Going to try and wrap some presents later but also need to fit in at least 10 mins of post natal yoga. My core muscles are non existent right now and strengthening them will help my back.
DH on late shifts so doing bed time on my own, no doubt DD will wake up and start crying as soon as I'm busy getting DS sorted. He'll be grumpy as not feeling well with this cold.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Car loan 1 £11,174, Car loan 2 £5,532, CC 0% BT £780. Hi Honeysuckle & Dancing, thanks for popping in.
I finally managed to get my bulbs planted yesterday.:j Asked my mum to come up and sit with the kids so I could get out into the front garden to do it. I can't go out there on my own with DS as it's open and he would run away down the road.
So planted the bulbs then repotted some heathers and a lone cotoneaster that I got reduced the other week. I also moved some dianthus (from a pot that didn't have enough drainage and was drowning them) to the front garden. I'm not sure if they'll survive their drowning but we'll see.
My mum stayed to help me with dinner, bath and bedtime for DS as well which was a big help. :T
I've started wrapping some presents, don't want to leave it to the last minute.
DS is a bit better but still not right and now both myself and DD have the cold too.
I also managed to lock myself out of my payp@l account today. Hoping it will let me try again in a couple of hours otherwise I'll need to phone them. :eek:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. It's been freezing here for the last few days - glad I got the bulbs planted when I did.
Haven't ventured out as we all have the cold and thought it would be better to stay warm.
Haven't even done any housework beyond the basics of dishes and clothes washings.
It's still really cold and foggy here and has been all day - have an appointment at the chiropractor tomorrow morning, so hoping it will be a bit warmer as I need to take both kids out. Dropping DS off at my mum's whilst I'm at my appointment. Hoping to get a Dr's appt as well for my 6 week check, it's been a nightmare trying to get one. DD not got her GP check until next week, 2 weeks later than it should have been.
Our garage conversion is finally starting tomorrow. :j It might not be finished by Christmas as it depends on the weather, if it's too cold the brickie can't do his part of the work. At least it will be started though. Can't wait to get both kids' rooms sorted out, although the thought of DS in a bed is a bit alarming.
Have managed to wrap some Christmas presents but still quite a few to go. Have been doing a bit at a time after DS is in bed. Only have a few left to buy though and I'll be done, just the food to worry about then.
I wrote the new baby thank you cards yesterday - the ones which need to be posted (mainly DH's family and friends of his parents etc in Englandshire) will be kept aside and sent with the Christmas cards.
Planning on getting a nice Christmassy picture of DS and DD as our Christmas cards this year. Will need to do this in the next week so that we can get organised.
Our twin nieces are coming to stay over on Friday so think I might get them to help us put the Christmas tree and decorations up. Not looking forward to DS and the cats wrecking the tree between them.
We need some outdoor lights as our current ones are on the way out but DH saying he doesn't think we'll be able to put any up this year as he normally routes them through the garage for power.
I didn't buy much in the Black Friday sales as already have most of the presents bought and nothing I needed to get was reduced. I did buy some toiletries whilst there was money off but that's about it.
My car is going to the garage tomorrow for MOT, service and the timing belt is being replaced as well. We already have the money set aside as the garage had told us at the last service that the timing belt would be needed next time. I'll have DH's car for the day whilst he's at work - luckily I don't need to drive far as I'm not used to the clutch on it, I end up bunny hopping down the road for the first few minutes. :rotfl:Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Have been reasonably productive today - 2 washings done, dried and put away; upstairs bathrooms given a quick clean, bathroom & kitchen bins emptied (including the food waste bin); big clean of both cat litter trays; living room hoovered; usual dishes washed and some more Christmas presents wrapped. :j
I also cashed out some survey points and got £25 of vouchers which I used towards 2 presents, so only ended up paying £10 "real"money towards them.
Cashed out £10 from another survey company which I'll have to wait on, £15 from £co and £5 from vypr. Most will probably go towards Christmas spending but might be able to put a bit into the EF.
Work has started on the garage conversion and I'm getting kicked out of the house tomorrow to let the joiner get on with a couple of jobs in the house relating to the garage.
Taking the kids down to my mum's and she's said I can leave them there and go and do a bit of shopping if I want. So I probably will go for a wander and some peace for an hour or two. :j
DS still snotty but a lot better, poor DD is still not great and I'm just exhausted really. DS being too rough with DD again today, trying to grab/pick her up by her shoulders/neck like a doll. He loves to sit on the couch and I sit her on his knee so he thinks he's holding her. It's very sweet but he then doesn't want me to take her away and starts grabbing at her. So I think we'll have to stop that for now.
Not going back to the chiropractor for 2 weeks this time, so hopefully next time it will go down to monthly and then gradually back to my usual 3 monthly. I'm glad that most of the cost has been covered by my work policy and then another policy that DH has.
Have only managed 3 10 minute yoga sessions in the last 2 weeks so need to work on doing that after DS is in bed. The 3 sessions I did have helped my back and core already which is great but I still feel like jelly so need to do a bit more.Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
