OK I guess you can only claim from one or other so it is hard to compare. But, If true that is a good thing.

On the MIB website - https://www.mib.org.uk/making-a-claim/faqs/ it doesn't seem to agree (but maybe you are talking about where the insurers offer is disputed). See questions 6 and 7 where an insurer seems likely to offer in 3 month or pay interest (maybe many fail this?) and MIB say for them a simple case will take 4-5 months.

Perhaps I misread as much of the thread was about trying to advise PW333 to be honest and get cover correctly.
