Car Insurance Cancelled HELP

  • Thanks for your observation Quentin I hope you are correct. However, I was not scaremongering, and I suspect that getting compensation for anybody not in an insured vehicle when they injured by an uninsured driver will still be a difficult process.

No way are you going to ride a sports style 125 and not speed. Get a grumpy granddad type 125 such as the charming looking ...

and watch the young girls flock round you. They will love the rugged manliness and enclosed chain.
    Haha Very Nice indeed

Aside the idea that someone driiving uninsured is not scary - which I think is not your point.

How long from when that driver knocks down your child on a zebra crossing to the point when they see some kind of a MIB settlement for the lifelong disability it causes and what are the limits on payment ?

How would that compare to the speed an insured driver's insurer would be seeking to mitigate a possible court case and offer adequate sums of compensation ?

Technically, you may have a point there is some fallback - but I am with Lear68 in being suspicious of the reality and the length and pain of that process when the injured party may be lying in ICU.

    Convince us...

How long do you think it takes to complete an injury claim for a child (or adult!) severely injured by a third party (whoever is picking up the tab)? Certainly long after the time they are in an ICU!

I don't care if you kill yourself or severely injure yourself as a result of your actions but don't want you to kill me or my family or friends.

How will the OP having insurance save you from being killed?

If driving was a right there would be no need for driving tests and that would be a bad thing.

You are misunderstanding what is meant by a right.

Nearly everyone has a "right to a vote". But you have to register at an address, you have to be a qualifying citizen, you have to be over 18.
All rights have certain tests or qualifying criteria, but that doesn't mean they are not rights.

  • So Quentin I asked a genuine question - Do you actually know of MIB layouts are slower or faster?

Or otherwise put - would you then prefer that your accidents involve uninsured drivers because it works out so well?

Regardless, any inference that it is ok to drive uninsured because the MIB will pick up the bill seems a tad odd and might lead to some thinking that makes it OK?

Also doesn't that mean you and I are paying for what someone else should have? Again and again.

Thanks for all the help/replies guys.

I have called my insurance and
I asked if my cancellation information will be shared or put onto any databases.
    She replied exactly this
'We do not share any of your information with other insurance companies'
However, it is only shared amongst the 'group' which is the RSA (Royal Sun Alliance) and its other partners. She also said that they do share information with the government if the information is needed, when will this information be needed?

    Thanks.

    I

They would find out, it goes on a central database accessed by the police.

If bike insurers ask if I had my insurance cancelled previously does that apply to all insurances? Including car insurance ?

YES, it is motor insurance rather than car/bike insurance.

When you take out insurance you have to disclose any material information. That includes cancellation, accidents, convictions etc.

If you do not disclose this information then the insurance company will immediately cancel when they find out this information.

You say you NEED a car, is this a 17 year old thinking he needs it to travel to a school half a mile away, or is it a 17 year old adult that has started work and needs it to get to work?

If work is under 10-15 miles away a push bike is perfectly feasible form of transport, at least until you reach about 25 when insurance will be more in your favour. If it is not for work then you do not NEED a motor vehicle.

Another possible to talk to a broker about is whether you could put a more responsible driver, possibly a parent, on the insurance as a secondary (NOT PRIMARY, that is illegal) driver to help slightly with the premium. Ensure you ask their permission first.

If you want to drive a car, or motorbike, then the insurance is certainly going to be VERY expensive for a few years whatever you do, the combination of age and proven stupidity is not a good one.

Whatever you do do not drive uninsured, there is more and more ANPR cameras around, and the police may have access to the ones in car parks for all we know too. You will be found out and be deeper in trouble because you will then be prosecuted and that will go on your record and you will have to declare it to potential insurers.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

OR if that sounds too far to pedal - then how about an electric bike? There are some amazing machines for under £1k. And bizarre though it perhaps is - you do not need expensive insurance to be on the road.

And with the many thousands you would save over 3 years - you can then look forward to funding a car and insurance and maybe even saving some money e.g. so you have a cushion to cover repair and maintenance bills that come along irregularly when you do.

    The speed is no different.

I don't see any inference that driving uninsured is ok. The point was that, if you are injured by an uninsured driver, you can make a claim.
