Lol, Happy One, you have really cheered me up! Funnily enough one of my next questions was going to be what do you all wear? I'm a skinny jeans, boot and long baggy jumper to cover me big belly bum and boobs gal, and have been for years and would love to update my look, but lack inspiration. When I google fashion over 50 I never seem to find anything I could see meself in.....sigh.

Roots duly done, no longer a cm of pure white showing (good job I have big hair so you can't see them. Yes I have Snow White hair and for a long while just used a toner, then put some colour in and looked 10 years younger......Helen Mirren I am not!

Oooh very boho, love that look but just can't carry it off. I have found the secret of a long and very happy marriage is a big house with two tellies lol. We have very different tastes but get together occasionally for a reet good gritty northern drama - think Happy Valley - phenomenal. Right, time to rinse off the dye, might be really adventurous and shave me legs an all.....

    Hello again.

We are decluttering. Why oh why did we start!!

OK got the boxroom emptied. But it's all in another bedroom now! Ye gods.

Anyway, I will spend the next week (have to put a cap on it) with three piles.

    One for the bin
    Two for the chazza
    Three to keep.

I hope the "keep" one is minimal. I am working on it.

Amazing how much total tat we accumulate. Well I hope it isn't just me!

I am going to be ruthless. Wish me luck.

Ah yes but then I worry that when we downsize he will get right under me feet, then start thinking about a nice cosy shed....(for him of course)

Mel we have a big loft.......it is rammed....hundreds of books and only ever use my kindle...clothes we will never wear again (even if they fit us). Keep thinking the ceilings going to collapse! Then of course adult kids booger off and leave all kinds of carp which they have no room for but refuse to let you chuck out, and don't get me started on the fitness equipment......

Hi Dorothy, yes the accumulation of "stuff" just creeps up on us, despite our best intentions!

Anyway, a good clear out is good for the soul so I hear, and have started today.

The amount of books I have lined up for local chazza is just amazing, frightening in fact, but like yourself I have tons on kindle now so am not worried about donating them anymore now.

It is the clothes. OMG so many. But most of that has to go too now.

We will feel so much better when it's all gone. Honestly, so I keep telling myself!

Re. the comments about the occasional cleaner, I know, I am very lucky, especially in London! But I have "cultivated" her, first I had her as a regular cleaner when DH worked full time and I did a lot more work too, then I also recommended her left right and centre so she got more work via me, and I also try to be as generous as I can with pay and occasional extras. But all in all, yes I am very very fortunate to have her, and she is such a nice, jolly, uncomplicated woman.

Re: decluttering, oh Melanzana I feel your pain! Starting is one thing, but unless you have unlimited time and energy it gets a lot worse before it gets better! My side of the bed is now ok, but the other side of the room, not to speak of the Room of Doom, are unbearable. I am typing this in the RoD and trying not to look at the paperwork on the table, laundry hanging from Dh's old drawing board, piles and boxes of books and goodness knows what else...does it ever end?
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

I feel your pain re decluttering and the amount of clothes! I used to actually sell nearly new clothes and did dress for work but heck its been 16 years since then and all these smart jackets and skirts by designers are still filling my wardrobe (s). One day soon, I have made a start on the cupboards on the top of the wardrobes and hauled it all to the charity shop as for the attic, least said soonest mended! I will get a cleaner in to blitz the bedroom once I'm done.

I now work part time in the financial sector and enjoy my job and the company. Friend was telling me today about Halcyon will use catch up TV and see what I think. I'm watching Sugar Free Farm and worrying about the chocolate bars, well I'll spread them over the next month or so :)
Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama ;)
