Morning all and welcome to Andrew PTMY too.
I have not been here for a few days, tummy bug struck, seems to have been doing the rounds, but okay now. Although I have lost a few pounds of weight whilst unable to eat, not the best way to lose weight and spent very little money.
dorothy52 did you manage to get into the garden? I am going to try and brave the garden at some point today and try to get back on with my sewing.

Hi Andrew and Dia. Sorry you've been unwell, Dia, just need to keep those pounds off now. Of course I have done nothing re the old weight loss, still chocs in the house from Xmas and birthday and I am just so weak!!! I have lost weight before on the old style slimming world red and green days and when I finally get my act together will do that again.
Miserable and damp weather, and this year I have not tidied the garden at all, really should. Will go out in a few mins and do a bit, I promise. This time of year of the short days can only do the weekends.
Yes, fresh air and excersise, just what I need, will go find my wellies now......just have another thontons continental first......0 -
There, an hour in the garden then a brisk walk into the village, feel much better for it. Gonna watch the new talent show tonight with Gary Barlow and Martin Kemp, hope it's good. Any one else?0

Hi,
Thank you Dorothy52 for starting a generic over 50s thread, I will subscribe and hope to contribute a bit. I usually post in the OS threads but occasionally pop in this way.
I am 59, married, 2 adult children and no grandchildren, sort of retired but do odd jobs. Mainly trying to enjoy life with DH who was diagnosed with a neurological condition, we don't know how long he has, could be many years and we try to make the best of every day.
Will follow this thread with interest! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hello Caterina, have read many of your posts, you sound lovely, fab to meet you here. Well I thoroughly enjoyed Let It Shine last night. Bit scary seeing how old Martin Kemp looks, same shock I get when I look in the mirror and see my mother looking at me lol. She must have been about my age when she told me that she always got a shock when she saw herself because she only felt 35!
Back in the garden after this. Only discovered the joy when I was 50 and love it now. It's massive though and takes a lot of maintenance, will be a wrench to leave it when we eventually downsize.0 -
There, another hour done and I can really see a difference, much tidier. Not a bad day, much warmer than last weekend, just a bit damp. So off to see mil, in her 80s, a widow For 30 years and still living independently. As the last surviving parent she is the only one who still makes me feel young. Fish and chips for lunch, as you can see the diet is going well...........0

Hi Dorothy,
Thank you for the welcome. I am just pottering about today, taken this week off to recover from the flu and am going to take advantage of the time to declutter a bit, starting from my bedroom.
I have called my lovely occasional cleaner to give my bedroom a thorough clean up next Thursday so I want all clutter out before then, wish me luck, there is a LOT. I am so lucky with this lovely girl who will only come as and when needed.
Hope your day goes well. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
An occasional cleaner, what a find! I so hate cleaning, it would be lovely if someone came once every couple of months to do the skirting boards etc. Feel really lazy now,MIL house is spotless, in fact she used to come and 'do' for us for until she was in her 70s lol. She still brings her marigolds and pinny so she can wash up when she comes for lunch.
Had a rubbish day at work, sigh, only another 8 years to retirement, then I worry how I will fill my days. Open to suggestions......
Good luck with the decluttering Caterina, such is my loathing of dusting that my home is quite minimalist......but when I open the cupboards...........0 -
Anyone watching The Halycon? Dead good, much better than last week. The costumes! They knew how to dress in the 40s0
