My mind has not been on debt busting in the past 6 months , I have half heartedly been trying to be MSE . As well as being ill in the winter then the problem with the nose I have had other things going on in RL which have affected me I realise now. This is my own fault and I have accepted that sometimes you have let a poisonous friendship go , no matter how much you want to hang on to it.
My debt had increased and to be honest I didn't want to check by how much as was to worried. Some of the debt has been created because I paid for something on my CC to help the poisonous friendship out and I won't be getting paid back. The rest has been on mindless spending , don't really know what . Anyway halfway through the year and today is the day it gets sorted out.
I have done a BT to my MBNA card and it's for 2 years , I only want one card with debt on. The CC that I have been using mindlessly has been cut up this morning.
The debt total now is £3990.93 , not so bad I guess. I started this journey with £5820 so still £2000 nearly paid off in 18 months .
I am doing a new SOA which I will post later . Feel better already having finally sorted it out. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Hi Cumbria - glad to hear all's well on the op and the itchy stitches have gone!
I wouldn't beat yourself up too much on the spends so far this year. I think you do remarkably well on what you have coming in cash wise. You are rather like me in your profile, I.e single, getting planning for retirement, etc, but I earn more and don't run a car - you still manage to do the things that are close to your heart. I'm so sorry to hear of the toxic friendship that has cost you in both emotionally and financially - it must be very hurtful, but you've cut this person out of your life now - and rightly so. Onwards and upwards now - you've got your break in August to look forward to and of course Australia.
As that eternal optimist good oid Miss Scarlett once said - tomorrow is another day!
P.s thing standing out on your SOA is lack of household contents insurance - or is this included in with your rent? Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟
Finished Emergency Fund- £10,000 April 2017

You've had a difficult year so far Cumbria but hopefully you're through the worst of it now. Your debt hasn't increased that much and you've taken steps to stop the mindless spending. You manage really well on a low income
.
Do you spend money on hair cuts? There's no allowance for that on your SOA.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Thank you , love the Miss Scarlett mention, tomorrow is indeed another day. Contents insurance I has been paid in full and I save £43.50 a month for car and home insurance but I put it in the car insurance bit. , if that makes sense. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
