Takings on Friday were only £146 and today £167.50 so we have made the most takings since I opened with £1,255.83 this week!
There are so many jobs in as well.
I will be working every hour I possibly can next week.
I am expecting the extra fabric for the table covers on Monday as well as the replacement sewing machines.

I have spent hours trying to update my website!
Think I started to loose the will to live as Internet Explorer kept stopping and biffed me off every time I tried to upload a photo so I have given up!
I have worked out the lessons for the future and got them on the website though.
I suppose that I should be doing a classes list for emailing and printing but have had enough.
Dgd was not feeling well in the night, and so BF has had to go out on his own today.
I am praying that all is well for tomorrow. I am going to be working very late for the week ahead with the amount of work that we have already to do.
No longer only about 25-30 jobs in a week. It’s nearer 50 this time.
I am pleased with that but will need to work after hours to keep up with the work.

Have had several requests today for work to be done asap. As my scheduled time is already full with work for the week ahead the only way forward is to charge a premium for jumping the queue and then doing overtime to get the work done.
I am definitely going to have to Sew at home as well as staying late after the Shop is shut. I have replied with one person requesting trousers to be done by Tuesday that they will need to pay an extra £2.50 for the privelige.
I am hoping that they will understand that I am busy and jumping the queue is going to have to cost more.

I have a target of £785 for next week so that we hit £3,200 for the month. I am hoping that we will still be busy into November as we will be closing early at Christmas as I am going to take Mum away 21st December

£2.50? Sorry Mooloo but that's a RIDICULOUSLY low amount.

I don't know what your basic charge is, but a) I hope it's not as low as £2.50, and b) I'd at least double it for rush jobs where people are queue jumping.

I agree, queue jumping should be at least £5, but probably closer to £10. After all if they had to buy new trousers it would cost a heck of a lot more than £10.

We charge £10 for basic hems, £12.50 for those with tape. So it’s a 25% extra.
Half the time I forget to charge it, so I am usually at fault. I am trying harder to remember that I need to increase certain costs and make sure that I am still competitive but also earning.
It takes me between 7 and 15 minutes depending on the type of hem needed, and whether I need to unpick the old hem or can just cut and start again. In January I usually look again at the prices, but since Biggest started we have been tweaking a few already.
I have to admit that I still struggle with the prices and queue jumpers. I try to get the work done as it is booked in but some people have shorter deadlines than others, so to try to please their time scale it means prioritising happens.
I admit that I am on the back foot this week because of my mistake in the quantity of fabric for those table covers for the clients exhibition next week.
The material is promised for courier delivery today.
Then he also needs embroidery on his shirts, which means trying to get a digital picture transferred into embroidery today. I did challenge Mum to look at her PES designers package over the weekend so I will see if she has managed it or not, or I will need to go to a online company to get it done. I have his shirts ready and waiting.
I am hoping that my Seamstress is feeling better today and will be on form, as we have a full board of jobs this week. As biggest came in Saturday morning it’s all up to date, and I can delegate work to her. I have to remember that she is slower than me, and so I need to get her to note the time she started and finished a job so I can gauge her rate into it, as I am currently basing things on my time and so loose out occasionally!
This is the year for tweaking things. Definitely having Biggest on board is starting to help.

    Hi Mooloo,

    Felt I had to chime in on the rush your order charges, you are definitely selling yourself short! An Etsy seller I use who makes custom items has an approximate 6 week turnaround time and to decrease that to the amounts below she charges the following;

    7-9 business days: £9
    5-7 business days: £12
    3-5 business days: £15
    1-2 business days: £20

This is a flat rate for items that cost between £15 and £65. Perhaps you could work out a sliding scale depending on how quickly your customer needs their items back?

Also want to add I've followed your posts for a while and I have to say I very much admire your strength and perseverance throughout adversity :)
