Hi Everyone
Hope you are all OK today. Tired-Mum hope you are feeling a bit better.
Had a busy morning catching up with washing, stripping down one bed (I have a rotation so one gets done every week if they have been slept in) and then going out for some shopping.
I ended up buying an electric knife from Lidls as we are having a roast beef dinner tonight. Hope it is going to cut the meat OK - has anyone else got one?
Also popped into Somerfield and picked up two packs of lean mince (500gms each) for £1 each. Just realised our freezer is rather full and probably needs a defrost but couldn't resist the bargains.
Hopefully tomorrow I will decant quite a lot of freezer stuff into bags as that saves a lot of room. DH has said he will defrost freezer next week.
I must say it has cut down on a lot of things I used to do having DH at home. He cuts the grass, does the shopping, defrosts the fridge, freezer and doesn't need a clean office shirt every day which then cuts down the ironing.
Hope to catch up with you all later. Welcome of new posters and sorry some of you are sad their offspring back to uni. I had a hard time when DS left home and it was just the two of us - takes a bit of adjusting too.
Love

Back again as I was so rudely interrupted by my children earlier.
Have managed a serious clean of the kitchen cupboards and a freezer inventory. Feeling a bit knackered now so haven't joined Oh and twins on a foraging expedition halfway up a mountain.Hope they bring back more yummy mushrooms and some berries.
Tuna pasta bake for tea, easy peasy, and I want to make some more scones. I'll be joining the weight loss thread at this rate.
Hope you enjoy your DVD night Penny. I've been treated to High School musical at full blast all morning.
Churchmouse.. I'm not telling re my windows either but I'm assured there should be a lovely view from them. :rotfl:
Glad you're feeling better DLB.
Welcome to the daily Homealone
Mrs McCawber, I reckon you deserve a day off!! I wish I had your time management skills. If I pop on here I never seem to get off again and there's no way I could get as much cleaning as you and talk about OS too.
I'm sitting here thinking that I'm really happy with the kitchen at the mo. I collect lots of vintage (knackered old stuff that no one else wants) and it's all coming together nicely. If I'm feeling brave later I may post a picture on the "OS Magic" thread.
Haribo x
Edited to add. That's awful for your poor sister PP. I hope she manages to cope with what life has thrown at her.
And I hope things pick up for you and OH soon Ellie. x0 -
Afternoon all.
Well iv finished my jobs for the day, all uniforms washed ironed and hung up ready for monday, sunday dinner prepared for inbetween footy matches tommorow (10.30 and 2.00 kick offs). Been shopping to stock tuck shop up for first footy match, dh cut grass and got a few jobs in garden done.
Ds1 done a few more tasks for his homework projects, and iv just sat down!!
My dad got his 60th presents the royal mail website say they have been delivered, but my sister has phoned to say mum has rang her screaming and shouting that iv sent dad something and that she is going to kill me!!! Oh well at least dad knows im think of him, have to see what happens later as my sister has decided she is going to pop in and see dad even if it means facing mum. Shes braver than me!!!LOL
I still cant talk ds1 into going on the France trip, me and dh really want him to go but he isnt bothered and neither were alot of his friends at footy last night?? What is wrong with these kids, i havent moaned and said yes you can go (even if it does cost £285) and he isnt the slightest bit bothered???
Right of for a surf
Take care
Donna

dlb - see you have just snuck in. So sorry to hear your Mum is being so difficult about your Dad's present. I can't begin to imagine how you feel. Both my DS and DD went on school trips and I do think benefitted from the experience. Try and persuade your son to go - I am sure he would get a lot from it. However, it is refreshing to hear of someone not wanting to go rather than the pestering for everything that comes up.0 -
Afternoon all :hello:
Big hugs to Penny-Pincher!! and ellie2912, and special hugs to PP's sis and her kids :grouphug:
Am having a lazy day, though I really shouldn't - I have far too much to doI'm off to a party this evening at my cousin's house - her sister is leaving for India for a year's voluntary work with a Christian educational organisation, so this is a farewell party. It's only 15 mins walk from my place to my cousin's, but my mum is coming so I have to go to Vauxhall first to meet her off the train. Mum isn't confident about knowing when to get off buses, even if I say "It's a straight line all the way, and you get off just after xxxx school"!
Really looking forward to joining this gym. Should be able to start next Saturday assuming the documents come through from the health insurance in time. There are a couple of things I need first - I've put on weight since I last went to a gym, and although my workout clothes still fit, I need a new swimming cossie and a sports bra or two. And some prescription swimming goggles. I found a website that does prescription goggles for less than £25 which seems really good.
Must go and have a shower - I'd been waiting for the washing machine to finish.

Hi GB.....nope...it wasn't those books...
We were going away for the week once...so i filled up the freezer ..prawns, salmon, tuna..the works (before i bacame frugal...:p ).... came back home -thinking "oh yes..no shopping", opened front door _pale_ ...oooohhh the smell... hubby had switched the freezer off on his way out:eek: .... the only thing i could think of to stop the smell whilst i cleaned it..was comfort:rotfl: .. and it defrosted so easily the next time....:T - i now just shove a bowl of hot water in, close the lid and it tkes minutes... it now gets done montly mind, so its never a big job:T
Just so no-one thinks im Anthea Turner  .... i have no children to look after, don't work....I have a problem with the fluid in my spine and around my brain - so i have learnt to get stuff done whilst i feel OK.... cos when my problem kicks in - it floors me and i can do diddly squat:p -for days/weeks at a time... at least now i know that hubby won't be coming in to no dinner if it starts playing me up:T , and the house is managable.... Thi OS thingy has become addictive.... i find my self brushing my teeth at night, with a microfibre cloth in the other hand...buffing up the chrome, and don't even get me started on not being able to go to bed if everything isnt away in the kitchen, and wiped over ready for the morning:rotfl: ... I blame you lovely people you know-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

Any inspiration for Maroccan bean stew? I have 3 types of canned beans, plus some raisins and dried apricots and tinned tomatoes. What to add to that lot?MFW #185

Hi Mrs Mac
Page 72 of the Country Hints for the glycerine tip!!!!!!!!! I think I would be worried about the Comfort in case of smell taint. Just mentioned to DH maybe he postpones the defrosting until I get the glycerine. He said that tips book is good! Just wait until I get him on the vinegar (by the way the shower head going into vinegar soak tomorrow!).
Sorry to hear you have health issues - you seem such an OS goddess. Please take care.
