    Hello all

Last day off today so back to work & normal routine tomorrow – must say I am ready for it – 10 days of eating, drinking & generally slobbing around has taken its toll. Don’t know why it is but when I am at work I eat healthier, have most week nights alcohol-free & drink plenty of water but it all goes to pot when I am off work.

This has really made an impact on my complexion – I am in my early fifties and have never suffered with spots but now I am approaching the menopause I have quite bad acne on my chin & jawline – does anyone have any product recommendations as I can’t seem to find anything that helps?

With regard to the ‘Detox’ debate – I wholeheartedly agree with you LL it is just a quick fix but doesn't address the long term problems with your eating habits. Far better to try and change things gradually so that healthy eating becomes the ‘norm’.

Some of my goals for 2017 are:

Improve my fitness levels, I do a weekly Zumba class & an exercise DVD a couple of times a week but need to do more walking as my job is desk-bound.

Learn a new skill – only problem is I’m not sure what yet!

Spend a bit more time looking after myself – I am going to try and have a proper salon facial at least every two months.

I am sure there are a lot more things I need to look at but these are for starters.

Wow I love reading all your posts and now don't feel as though I'm alone in changing my habits.
I started yesterday thinking baby steps by stop drinking alcohol and wearing perfume.
Today I got on the scales and realise I need to loose 48 pounds actually. Time to give myself a
really good talking too. I got up this morning, showered, conditioned my hair, put some make on sprayed some perfume and went for a good walk. I downloaded an app on my phone for counting steps I did 6245 not a lot but it is to me as I don't walk if I can help it.
Have made a salad for lunch from leftovers in the fridge. And drunk 2 litres of water.

I also need to start saving money as my husband is being made redundant in march.
And even though this is what we want as he is not mentally well and could not get another
    full time job.

Thanks for leaving any tips on becoming fab. I will also look on the money saving site for tips.

    2.1.2017 minuses weight 13st 6lb
    Plus No alcohol.
    Walked 6245 steps.

    Bye for now x

have you tried Freederm products? i use the gel on spots and also use the foam facewash. they are quite expensive but you can often get on offer in tesco, boots or superdrug. i haven't been using the wash recently and have come out in loads again :( i used to use superdrugs own brand spot cleanser which was really good but after a few years stopped working on my skin :( i use the foam facewash with my no7 cleansing brush in the evenings.

I have had my health mot at the gym and my cholesterol is slightly high. they can only check total level not bad and good so i'm not too concerned but it was a bit of shock as mine has always been well under 5 (its now 5.6) so its spuring me into action. going this evening to do bodypump :)

My frump to fabness has gone well today. Eaten well so far today and drank plenty of water. This is now a goal for me as I feel I do not drink enough water!

Went shopping and got myself a nice Diesel perfume in the sales. I aim to wear my perfume every day I leave the house (except if I'm going off for a run/exercise)

Good tip about earrings! I have 2 lovely pairs which I only wear on special occasions..... no more. I will wear one pair mostly every day I leave the house and swap occasionally for the other pair when I feel like it.

Just come back from a nice walk which turned into a jog. Sun was shining but it was still chilly. Think the cold prompted me to speed up somewhat. It was only about 1.5 miles but still made me feel good.

Also done the food shop which included healthy fruits/veg and dinner stuff as well as some protein powder to add to my smoothies when I have finished a workout. No alcohol to support dry January.

Back to work tomorrow and I am prepping for it this evening. Nice bath with bubbles/candles etc planned. Coconut oil is coming out to make a hair mask for a few hours. Going to paint my nails before bed so I don't have to worry about rushing them in the morning. I will also put some makeup on for the first time in a while before I go to work! Just a light bit of concealer for the darkness under my eyes and some mascara I think.

Things I am changing as of today are highlighted in bold.
    Total Mortgage OP £61,000
    Outstanding Mortgage £27,971
    Emergency Fund £62,100
I AM NOW MORTGAGE NEUTRAL!!!! <<Sep-20>>

I'm doing exactly that right NOW! :D I find that if I have a sports bottle of water at my side when I'm using PC I drink it almost mindlessly.

I've improved my teeth cleaning lately. Like you, greenbee I've been seeing a hygienist and she gave good tips about using a tuft brush and inter dental brushes so I've followed her routine. The other thing she said was not to drink tea/coffee (or red wine;)) for at least 30 minutes after cleaning to avoid staining. That's made a difference too.

luvabargain, I think we're all guilty of keeping things for best (whether it's clothes, make up or jewellery) and also having loads of products that we don't use. I had heaps of Clarins stuff including various products I'd been given in gift sets when family had bought me my favourite perfume or hand cream. I made a list of what I had booked appointments with the Clarins counter and asked them to show me how to use them all. That was about October and I've been using them daily ever since. There was no hard sell but I did treat myself to a serum which I'm loving. Also while I haven't joined the actual thread for using up products I am trying my best not to buy anything that isn't essential. I really feel a sense of achievement when I see off another container.:)

Thanks for your kind words LL but to be honest Slimming World has been brilliant in giving me a structure for healthy eating. I've always meal planned as when I worked full time and very long hours it was easier to do a meal plan and shop once a week then I didn't have to worry about it again until the following week.

I've had a productive day. Decorations all sorted and put away. DH has taken the tree away and all needles vacuumed up and I've had a litre of water while I've been typing this!:rotfl:

I've just lost a huge post, responding to you all and it will take too long to repost on my tablet, so apologies to everyone.

I've had quite a productive day. I experimented with 2 simple healthy recipes. Neither turned out brilliantly, but at least I gave it a go and tried something new.

I also cleared out a kitchen cupboard and got rid of lots of crockery - mainly bowls for entertaining guests. but I can't remember the last time I used them, so they are going.

The Council collected our old sofa and bed, which have been out front for a couple of weeks, lowering the tone of the neighbourhood.

I'm back at work tomorrow and then off for the rest of the week, as the children are still off.

Back to work for me tomorrow as well. More importantly, it's a 5.30am wake up call so I can get to the gym before work. The benefits of this are two fold: 1) I get to the gym which instantly boosts my mood and 2) I get to avoid some traffic by being on the roads earlier.

I want to be in bed for 9.45 with a view to being asleep by 10 so I can get 7.5 hours. I've mostly stopped going to the stables during the week meaning I'm usually home around 7 instead of 8, and it makes a huge difference to how I feel about my work-life balance but getting enough sleep is still a struggle.

I did day 1 on the meditation app. During it there was definitely "I can't take much more of this, we mustn't even be halfway through yet" but actually it went a lot quicker than it felt and I did feel different (in a good way) afterwards. Will do it again tomorrow, but probably in the evening as I do not want to get up any earlier!

On the subject of detoxes and water; I have no intention of detoxing but I do definitely need to drink more water as I know I drink way too much Coke Zero. My diet is good right now thanks to WeightWatchers; I think the only improvements would be to track macro-nutrients but I just can't face that. Maybe if I lived on my own and could eat the same meal plan week in week out so I only had to work it out once!

Evening everyone, hugs to those that are in need of one.

Today is the first anniversary of my dad's death, so I'm having a little drink in his memory. This will be may last one until my birthday at the end of the month, I'm not a big drinker so its one thing that I don't actually miss.

So last night I took the plunge and contacted a fitness instructor, he also specialises in nutitron, he's coming out to see me on Thursday so will see what he has to say. I know its going to be expensive but I'm seeing it as an investment in my future.

This morning the scales were (OMG can't believe I'm going to write this) 16.13, not good at all as I'm only a shortie. I'm more like a barrow.

Back to work and a bit of normality tomorrow.

    Take care xx

DD265 -thanks for the link . I will have a look at it now. I have downloaded the free headspace app and will see how I get on with that.

Today has been a good day. I've dressed in clothes I haven't worn for ages and had make up and perfume on. I've been out for lunch with the kids and resisted having dessert.

I've managed to get some jobs done that have been on my to do list for at least a month. I'm going to go clean my teeth and then read a book before bed.

The test will be tomorrow when the kids are back at school, and I'm back at work.
