  • all for different occasions, but it can get expensive, so does anyone recommend any good fragrance sites that could be cheaper than the high street, and more importantly, are legitimate

I went into a i street dicounter a few days ago and bottles were opened with the cellophane carefully unsealled.... open boxes with bottles removed. I was shocked as all the different boxes had the same type of cellophance. Generally there is a difference with the grade of the wrapper and the feel as they are from different suppliers. Who knows what is repackaged.

Generally with reviews I trust here more as we are like minded beauty addicts who know our stuff. I always think reviews can be written by anyone. At least if they say verified purchase in amazon or the like i feel more confident.

Be careful with some retailers as they have very old stock- it can smell weird if not stored well. For fragrance boots, debanhams and main department stores order from geniunue suppliers and they move fast. They will discount old lines or move them to other stores. I like a certain guerlain perfume that is a special order from paris, I would always order it from the stockist who carrys the full line as i know it is coming from guerlain.

savingfortomorrow - is that concealer the new one from Bourjois? I have the Healthy Mix one in the tube but they do one now which you apply with a wand and I keep hearing good things about it.

it was the tube one and it does say on really well. I fell asleep with a full face of makeup last night, oh the shame! but the concealer is going strong.
  • Well, I've had a bit of an epic fail...

I started using my simple cleanser, toner and moisturiser on new years day(new year new me trying to get into a solid routine and all that) and on Friday I broke out. Badly...

But then that pesky Aunt Flo arrived the same day and I had a few smaller spots in the days before like I always do but now I honestly don't know if it's the products I'm using that caused me to break out or if it was just hormonal...

I'm going to get back into my routine again once Flo has packed her bags and left as I will have a whole month then as it's only around this time of the month I get big sore spots like that

    :o

I also still have one very big, sore, easily weepy spot on my chin, just over a week later.

I do tend to get big bad ones very occasionally but this seems too coincidental...

I used Healthy Mix foundation before and it was good too. A nice alternative to some other expensive ones. I remember using concealer as well but I usually don't have much darkness under eyes so rarely notice the difference I guess.

I currently have windows open for Elysian, Allbeauty (have purchased before from these), Amazon, Perfume Click, Fragrance X, Perfume Parlour and Fragrance Direct.

    Thanks for any advice.

I rarely buy anything from Amazon because across all websites, it is the only one I see reviews complaining about fake products. As there are many sellers on the platform and Amazon is indifferent, there are more instances people buy products for unbelievable prices only to find out they are not genuine.

I've bought from Fragrance Direct and Allbeauty many times, good service and genuine products, no problems at all. I categorically, point blank refuse to buy from Amazon ever, ever and would walk over hot coals to buy elsewhere.

Allbeauty I have twice and been very happy, it's just a few websites have good deals too.

Well, you've just blown Amazon out of my thinking - shame as Cerruti 1881 for men is the lowest price there. Not by much, but i'm trying to be stingy.

    Thanks for the reply.

I do prefer things sealed although the Armani Diamonds for Men that I purchased was in a gift set (as it was on sale and cheaper) was in a gift set box and unsealed (ThePerfumeShop in my high street). Smells as genuine as the bottle I bought in Boots (again when half price).

I thought the same with reviews - even with 80% positive I worry who is reviewing and I know MSE has a good reputation amongst these threads, hence asking.

Cheap is nice, but genuine is more important. I can't get along with the MSE megabot though, so I have to look manually.

    Thanks for the response.

Does it make a difference if it's supplied by Amazon compared to a seller?

I've been put off Amazon now anyway. I'm not going to risk it. I am glad I asked.

    Thanks for your reply.

  • I have started trying to eat better, to lose weight and avoid the effects processed foods have on my skin. I find that spending less on take aways and rubbish tends to be a real upside. I suppose less cake begin eaten is allowing me to cake it one the face!

A better healthy living lifestyle will do wonders for you.

I started a better diet in September for diabetic reasons (although I needed to do it anyway, this just gave me the kick). I haven't touched chocolate, cake, crisps, chips etc since and i've lost 23lbs and my skin is much improved, as are most things.

    Two UUs this morning:

Avon Care Cocoa Butter Hand Cream WNB. I hate this. The Avon Care Cocoa Butter range always reacts badly to my skin. I have the body butter left from the set I got for Christmas. Is Avon just obsessed with Mineral Oil? I'm going to use the Nuxe hand cream I got to give my hands some nourishment.

Nivea Stress and Protect roll on deodorant WBA. I like this, it doesn't irritate my armpits. I have a mini one left, so I'll use that and then buy another one when I need it. :)

Spending triggers - January is always a problem for me, it's so dark and cold that I can't do lots of my normal outdoor things, there are none of the pre-Christmas distractions of November/December, and everywhere I look there are new beauty launches!

No INs, no OUTs, steady progress on the PP - might even finish it this month.

    Welcome stellata.

For me it's the lure of getting a bargain! Now I've booked the trip to the US though I'm going on a low buy and making a Wish List for over there.

    Welcome from me too stellata

Kind of fallen off the bandwagon with the whole cleanse, tone and moisturise I should have been doing every morning and evening as I have literally been sick as a dog all week :(

I'm not feeling too bad today but hopefully tomorrow I will be feeling well enough to pick up on the routine again, return to work and it's my granddads funeral this week too

    :o

Don't worry. I know when I'm ill it's all I can manage to shower sometimes. Hope you soon feel better. X
