After being in receipt of a new Windows 10 Lenovo laptop for a few days now, I have to say I'm not massively impressed with 10.
I find it very intrusive, and - oh! - the updates.
I know it's had a lot of stick, but I must say I always found Vista perfect for my, albeit simple, needs.

I'm the same. I liked Vista but with 10 we'll get used to it. Funny the way M$ tends to !!!! up any new os to begin with, like ME, Vista, 8 and now 10 and have to bring out patches to rectify things.

What has fields got to do with the price of fish?
You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

  • Windows 7 was the last operating system MS built. W10 is more than an OS, which is fine if it's what you want, less fine if you really wanted - needed - a bicycle and found yourself driving a fire engine.

    That tickled me. :p

Yes, I agree that win 10 has some annoying 'features' and a new GUI that takes a bit of getting used to especially if you are updating from an older op sys (I made the huge jump from XP so bypassed win 8 which was horrid!). But as said updates get there eventually, you get used to the GUI and you will be able to set it up more to your liking such as locations for data and switching off communicating with Microsoft all the time etc. etc. I find the duplication of disk and files in Windows explorer very annoying (a mapped/shared drive on another PC for example appears twice) but no doubt it will be tweaked eventually by me or me.

I find Glary Utilities good for this kind of problem.

Ditch Windows and rebuild your machine with Linux

It's free, faster, and much easier to use than any version of Windows

    Cheers fj
