Your Dad has a very good point - in our house we can't avoid drying some of our things indoors and we have a problem with black mould too. I suppose you could put an airer in a closed room and leave a window open or something, but that's not brilliant.

How lovely of your parents to help out with the car and offer of helping out to get the tumble dryer!

  • Indeed it is, I only hope I can pay them back quickly.

Surviving work at the moment...very much pondering the future.

  • The good news is that I have my car back and a new suspension coil has been fitted. :)The total cost was just under £140, so am breathing a huge sigh of relief :). I had been worried that it would be a lot more and am very thankful it was the figure above.

I spent £76 yesterday on food and am hoping that we'll only need a top up of milk and bread. £23 was spent on wood but keeping warm is essential. The oil fired radiators in the bedrooms are working out well as a temporary so.ution until such times as I can get the boiler replaced.

The new tumble dryer is being delivered today so am hoping that the damp backlog of washing will be cleared soon:o.

  • On Saturday, I took the car back to my parents. I'm so thankful I was able to borrow it to be able to get to work. DD2 drove me back but we ended up calling into the hospital to get her arm checked out. She's been in pain with it for about a week and it's not easing. It took a couple of hours to be seen and the verdict was a pulled tendon. Since it was so late and the little ones who were with us, so hungry, I ended up getting a McDona1ds tea for them.

Earlier on Saturday the new tumble dryer got delivered. Two loads have gone through and come out fluffy and dry :T:T. Hopefully the backlog of damp washing will be gone soon.

Ended up feeling shivery and achy yesterday so didn't go out and stayed underneath a blanket for the day. I got up to make tea for the children but felt so wiped out after peeling the potatoes, I had to sit down and let DD2 take over.

    NSD 5 for January :).

  • Felt so grotty today that I didn't go to work. I'll try and get in tomorrow. Thankfully the shivering has gone but now left with a horrible cough.

The washing backlog is diminishing. It is so good to have dry washing.

I had an invoice from the nursery today and my nursery costs have gone down a bit. The toddler gets 15 hours funded now, so hopefully will make a difference to the budget.

  • The ex has sent a grocery delivery...not had that happen before. Not sure whether I feel more thankful or on guard.

  • Hope you're feeling better soon HSL - I've been completely wiped with this bug I've had and it's taking ages to get rid of.
    Lots of love

The bug sounds most debilitating. I hope the cough clears up soon and doesn't stop you getting a proper night's sleep.
Yay! to the car and tumble drier! Both are great news and hopefully will make life much easier.
I agree, the grocery delivery from the ex, coming out of the blue, sounds very strange. Has he said anything about it?

  • Thank you Cherryfudge and CCL. I went into work yesterday and ended up feeling truly dreadful. I went home at lunchtime. By the time I got home, I was frozen and took a couple of hours to feel anything near warm. I'm off work again today...feeling whoozy yesterday at work was a little worrying, so making sure I stay in and rest to get rid of this horrible bug.

It's absolutely freezing outside today though we didn't get the snow. Try to keep warm! I'm sure you're right to stay in and rest.
