Thank you SH, Willowtree222 & Spendless.

Must confess I have had some lazy starts to the day, not getting up til 9 😵. I’ve tried to catch up in the garden and allotment  this week. The tomatoes sown  in March are all ready to pot on, so did quite a few today. Yesterday I chopped my way into the greenhouse at the allotment. To my shame it was so overgrown with brambles that had scrambled over the roof and into some window crevices. I can now get in and there is a big pile of brambles to get rid of. I’m determined to get there more and to grow as much as I can.

Sowing has continued with a second sow of peas, courgettes, lavender, cucumbers  and  calendula. My porch is jammed full of seedlings and trays hence the need to get my allotment greenhouse functional. It has been relaxing just pottering around the plants!!

NSD yesterday and only bought milk and a couple of top up essentials. DD3 & 4 treated themselves to a takeaway lunch but I resisted!! I made a chicken pie for tea…love having the time to cook when not at Job 1!

Good start made at the allotment. Well done on all the seedlings. I haven't got around to doing any this year.

Glad you are enjoying the simple things of making good, home cooked food.

So nice to read of you doing leisure/hobby/home-making activities - added bonus that they will all save you money too.

Envious of your greenhouse and growing!  Nice to have time to lie in, it’s just needed sometimes.

  • Thank you SH, Spendless and Lucielle.

The last week off went in a bit of a blur with trying to prep for Job 1 and working through a few very busy shifts at Job 2. One shift was relentless…worked 8 hours without a break and didn’t finish until 1.30am so felt wiped out the next day.  I have come to the conclusion that I am better if my shifts are spread out over the week rather than back to back shifts.

The seedlings are growing well. Some have been able to go to the allotment greenhouse while the rest I’m juggling in the available space in the porch. It gets a lot of light, so is ideal for starting the plants off. The tulips planted in November are starting to bloom as have some daffodils that are an interesting variety,   so the garden has some colour.

Work sounds exhausting. I hope you get a bit of a break this week, even if it's just a quiet shift or two.

What daffodils have you got? Our tiny ones - tete a tete - have been great but not one of the big white ones has shown at all after 30 years of them!

I'm not surprised you were exhausted after that shift. Illegal to not get breaks too. I appreciate it's hard in a service industry - but then you need them even more. Hope this week is better.
