  • Spendless - the financial consent order was sorted out Dec 2021, but couldn’t be done as a clean break unless I went for a full divorce ( rather than the judicial separation). The existing order is now carried through as a clean break.

Thank you for the mention of sweet peas! They're something I always think of growing and never get round to, perhaps this is my year!

I seem to remember advice used to be to chip the coating of the seeds and soak overnight to give them a better chance of sprouting. Is that what you do or, what have you found that works for you?

  • I have tried soaking them and sowing straight into compost…both seem to work but I find time wise, it’s easier for me to sow them direct and not soak.

  • A fairly productive day today. Was able to clean through and then went for a walk with SO and our combined children. Was just so glad to be outside and make the most of the beautiful day. The holly bushes have lots of berries at the moment and we saw some early daffodils in flower.

Today has been aNSD making a total of 3 so far this month.

Thanks for the advice on sweet peas. Come to think of it, if they were outside at the moment, they'd be soaked anyway! I suppose the age of the seeds and water-retentiveness of the soil will be factors too.

I've just found one of my succulents going yellow, and the poor thing had vine weevil grubs in the base. Some of my plant space will therefore me taken up trying to start new plants from the leaves.

We have holly berries aplenty this year, but the only daffodils are tete a tete that were in my Secret Santa gift: the outdoor ones are a long way from flowering. How lovely that you already have some! Mind you, even here, it's not dark quite so early and the birds are singing again.

Best of luck with the sweet pea seeds. You seem to have green fingers and lots of follow through so I'm sure you'll have a colourful spread at the right time

  • Thank you Cherryfudge and SH.

Today has been quite a long one. Work at Job 1, had to get a couple of bits from Mr T’s for tomorrow’s lessons but will get that reimbursed. By the time I had got home, cooked tea and we had eaten it, it was 8! Have done a couple of hours work for Job 1 this evening and completed a couple of modules for my course.

    I had a letter from
the bank today telling me that my recent overpayment on the remaining debt had saved me £9.33 in interest.  Was really pleased! I ought to keep a list should I have chance to make any more overpayments.

Oh, what a nice bank! :D I'd be writing £9.33 and the date on a post-it note and hoping eventually for a whole cloud of them so I could add them up again and again just for the joy of it!

And what a long day you've had. How is the course going?

    Sleep well, you've earned it.

That does sound hectic. Well done on the interest saving. It all snowballs in a positive way.

  • Thank you Cherryfudge and SH.

This week has continued to be busier than usual with further course modules and an online seminar to fit in and Job 2 shifts. I do find it takes me a while to feel sleepy after a long shift at job2! Thankfully no weekend shifts this weekend.

Have paid £16 off a debt and have more to add to the cash envelope savings
