Hi HSL, I haven't been on this site for a while but I`m wondering if the utility company has the right to withhold all the overpayments? It might be worth shopping around for another company? I`ve been with Octopus for about 3 years now and they are so straightforward. I also read the meters at the beginning of every month which keeps my account in check.2

Hi HSL are you OK? I get twitchy when you don’t post in a while 🙂2

Thank you Janb5, KittykattyKate and SH.All is well…just so very busy. When I was recovering from Covid, I resolved to work a maximum of 3 shifts a week at Job 2…unfortunately a colleague suddenly quit which meant that her shifts needed covering. DD2 picked up a few and I ended up doing a 4th shift for about a month. It sounds silly but that 4th shift has impacted more in terms of taking time out of the weekend and knocking energy levels. Still the extra but has helped with the cost of Christmas. I have a run of 4 shifts this week to get through including NYE so am trying to pace myself. Am expecting Job 2 to be very quiet in Jan and Feb.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

Good to hear from you - I was getting a little concerned.
I should have known you were busy.
It must have been hard keeping going with so many shifts, though the money was useful. I hope your NYE shift is a nice one, though it sounds as though it might be hard work.
How was your Christmas?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Christmas has been different this year but has evolved to reflect the changing family circumstances. Rather than expect or cause pressure for everyone to come here, I suggested we all met up after Christmas Day so last night all of my children, their respective spouse/partners, my parents, SO and his children all met together. It was amazing to have everyone together in the same place although I had forgotten how loud my lot can get when they are altogether!!paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . How lovely you were all able to get together even if it was a little different this year.
Hope you manage to find the right balance with work soon - it's difficult when you still need the money.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Good to hear from you. I had suspected that both jobs were keeping you busy. Schools here broke up very late Fri 22nd. If yours was the same then I hope you have a later Jan date back and that co-incides with Job2 becoming quiet. It does sound like you've found your 'saturation' point with juggling both jobs though. Pleased the advantage was the wages helped towards Christmas costs. I love having '2nd Christmas' on an alternative date, we did same yesterday with my DS and DiL, fab that you managed to get all of you plus SO and family together.2

We broke up on the 15th but then go straight back on the 2nd. That's going to be a strange one. Hope you get some peace and quiet Time to relax xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
