Thank you Humdinger, SH, SA, Cherryfudge, MeandO, Spendless, Lucille, Watty1 and Willowtree222.

Its been another busy week. The heat is always interesting when teaching! Getting through reports slowly but past the halfway mark now so feeling that I’m getting there. May need to rejig my hours at job 2 because I’m absolutely exhausted by Friday night. Pondering that at the moment.

Yesterday was lovely. Met my parents for a picnic at a NT place. DD1 and SonIL were able to join us as was SO and his children so quite a group of us. It worked well that it is equidistant from all 3 points of the county that we live in. After a busy week, I enjoyed the tranquility of the gardens and orchard we walked around. The children enjoyed climbing the trees and generally burning off lots of energy!

DD4 has now finished her GCSE exams. I’m hoping she will happy watering plants for me in the mornings as I don’t always have the time.

Had a wobbly moment this week with the elderly lurcher which resulted in a trip to the vets. I had braced myself for the inevitable but the vet said that as he was eating, drinking and able to do bodily functions, he had some quality of life and prescribed some medication. I was just so relieved to have him
home alive, though I am very conscious that we are in the final stage of life. The vet was quite clear about that.

I’m glad you’re getting some extra time with him ❤️ My dog is 11 now but still very lively. I can’t bear to think of being without her but know she’s not going to go on forever 😢

I'm glad you get to spend a bit more time with the dog. Don't think I'd realised DD4 was taking GCSEs. By my reckoning within a couple of years 6/8ths will be adults (and maybe a further wedding or a 3rd generation will have come along too)

We had an interest only mortgage and was the worst thing we could have done so well done on getting a repayment mortgage this time.  I used to make small daily overpayments by Tilly Tidying, amazing what a difference it makes over time.  I only did this over the last couple of years when I wasn't working due to ill health but because I was near retirement age my employer worked out it was cheaper to keep me on and just pay me sick pay - full for 6 months, half for 6 months and then holiday pay which built up so the odd weeks pay about every 3 months!  Even with just doing this it reduced the amount we needed to pay when the endowment matured by several thousand pounds.  Definitely made for interesting reading when the annual mortgage statement came through - payments ranging from a couple of coppers to a couple of pounds and about 3 or 4 pages of them!
