Hi HSl...I'm accessing your blog from my hospital bed having just had surgery today!
    Great timing huh!..
I agree with everyone's comments about ' Keygate' and hope these issues can be highlighted to the court as evidence of bullying and abuse.
    Sending positive thoughts. Xx

We used to have a funny door chain that you could lock so you needed a key for the door and the chain.  Maybe look at something like that ?

  • Really glad to hear your dad helped with key situation for now. Is hard for younger siblings when older ones demand, maybe just say they need to try and call you first? Know you might be at work but worth a try?

Hi I'd definitely advise researching utility companies..maybe ask your parents who they are with so you can both get a discount.
I'm not loyal to any but now refuse to get a smart meter as they aren't transferable.
  • Thank you Cranky, Janb5, dawneybabes and rugbymadfamily.

@janb5 wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope you are feeling ok post op.
I didn’t know that about smart meters. I don’t have one here but no idea that they aren’t transferable.

dawneybabes - I remember my great  aunt having one of those!  An extra layer of security...I’ll look into that, thank you.

Cranky40 - that’s a good idea to use a standing order, thank you.

rugbymadfamily - that’s the frustrating part...I’ve never stopped access to the house for the older ones, they just need to come when I’m at home! A quick call could solve that although they do know my work schedule.

Hope to spend today trying to catch up a bit. I am not prepared for Christmas at all, so need to get cracking. The children did the tree on Friday evening, so it does look festive!

Glad you’ve got the lock sorted HSL.

I think smart meters are transferable now - the first generation weren’t, but I think they are now fitter 2nd gen ones, which are smarter! Worth double checking before they fit, but we find it really useful to have them. Probably with sticking with Ovo if that’s who you’re being transferred to - Martin says not to switch at the moment as it’s all the same as nothing is cheaper than the price cap.
