Good to hear your test was negative. :) We worry so much nowadays over things we'd have found a small nuisance a couple of years ago.

DAL - Thank you...DS1 moved out today, at least I think he did. He took his dog, most of his DVD collection and his TV but a fair amount still here! Youngest DD was quite upset whereas another DD was relieved, so an emotional evening.

What a bizarre day! Got up early to take DD1 to work, then found out that I had been in contact with someone who had tested positive for Covid, so had to come back home and start a time of self isolation. The county has seen such a rise in a Covid levels 😳😩. Had to ring Job no 2, to let them know, so much juggling of shifts for them. I have plenty to get on with from Job no 1 so even if I can’t go in, I can crack on with several tasks.

That was a demanding day, I hope you get some calm now and can settle into a new pattern with the others as well as catching up with work tasks. It's difficult to adjust when they move out, isn't it? Yet it's part of getting to know their adult selves. I hope you and the other children are okay.

Cases are up here too. :( Perhaps the timing of your isolation will be a blessing in disguise and let you have some rest. I hope you stay symptom free.

it might be do your ds good to move out and realise how good he’s actually had it.
I totally agree and should he wish to move back in at some future point it would not be for the cut price rate that he's had so far.

I agree with this too. I know emptying nests can be hard but yours is still pretty full. I remain in awe at how well you cope.

    Hope your tests remain negative...

Thank you Dawnybabes, Cherryfudge, Cranky40 and SH.

Cherryfudge - you are right, it is difficult to adjust.

SH - You are right too! I have to keep remembering that even though I feel bereft in a way, I am very thankful that I have the younger ones at home and even then, we are larger than most households. It’s just adjusting...

DD2 moved out yesterday although she did say, when asked, that she intends to go between houses. DS2 also took some of his  stuff yesterday...the ex has yet to even speak with me about any arrangements to do with DS. I will obviously  have to inform HMRC if he’s no longer living with me but with the ex not discussing things, I feel in quite a fog about what is going on.

Finances are looking ☹️. Having informed Job no 2 about having to self isolate, it looks like I will have no income from there until I go back. I am just under the level of earnings required to qualify for SSP . Hopefully I will get my usual earnings from Job 1. It means I’ll be about £200 down so need to budget very carefully.

I also need to keep scouring the vacancies pages as I can see that the couple of evening shifts I have been doing  will harder to do childcare wise now, than before, so not sure how long I can hold onto Job no 2 ☹️☹️☹️.

Today will be more working from home. Hoping to get tasks for a Job 1 finished in good time so that I can get out and weed the garden and get some more cosmos planted out to replace the plants that the molluscs munched.

Ouch to reduced money and childcare issues. Would any of your friends help? If one of your DDs intends to move between homes could you make it conditional on help with childcare?
