So pleased that he is ok HSL, and I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed that the MOT passes without any incident.

Thank you Cherryfudge, CCL & SH.
Yesterday (Wed) was a lovely day. We ventured further afield into the next county so that DD1 could meet up with her uni friend who was on holiday there. It’s quite a while since I’d been to this particular stretch of coast so was good to explore. The tide was out so beach was huge compared with our local beaches. We have smaller coves whereas this beach was much wider. As a result, even though the car park was pretty full, there was plenty of space for everyone. Social distancing was evident throughout! You could tell we haven’t been to the beach much this year as the younger DDs threw themselves into the sea and were most joyful. DS3 was much more sure of himself and enjoyed jumping the waves in the shallow water. I was glad to have time to sit, watch and listen to the waves. It reminded me that DD2 and I haven’t had many cliff walks in our bid to walk as much of the coast path as we can, so we must plan more in as we get to September.
Today is results day for DD3. Each form has an allocated time to collect results rather than the usual collect anytime policy. She had good mock results and is generally diligent with all her schoolwork but she has been worried about the grades since the A level news last week.
MSE wise - only spending was on lunch as we went to M*D0n@lds with DD’s friend. I had forgotten about Rishi’s scheme so lunch came to only £9, which for us is low! Admittedly I only had half the children with me as the other half were working but glad it was a low figure. The younger DDs were thrilled to be able to eat at M*D’s again as it was their first visit since before lockdown!
DD1 and 2 pitched in with some cooking this week. While I was at work on Tuesday, DD1 made a banoffee pie which was a welcome treat. She’d also made herself some homemade mushroom soup. The older DDs are quite experimental and adventurous in their cooking, partly because of DD2’s course. I need to get DS1 more proficient so that he doesn’t spend his life eating pizza! My mum bought him one of the Hairy Bikers cookbooks which had some great recipes in, so hope I can persuade him to try some.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

ITs always nice when they cook for you. DD1 has been really good at cooking stuff and just throwing things together. DS2 made spag bol the other night which was nice.

Thank you Lucielle, DAL & Flipflopflo.
DAL - it’s been an interesting rollercoaster of a day.
I took DD3 into school to collect her results at the allotted time. She opened them...of the 9 results, 7 were consistent with her mock results / predicted grades and were good grades. A double award subject however was 2 grades lower than her mock results / predicted grades. At first she was so relieved about the other subjects that she seemed ok about the double award but as the morning went on, she became more and more puzzled as to why. It wouldn’t have mattered quite so much had she not needed these subject grades to be at a certain level to do the A level. She had rung the college to report her grades and they had baulked at the lower double award, so I rang the school and spoke to the head of department. Long story short there had been an error on the records surrounding her second mocks result ( they sat 2 lots of mocks) because she had missed a paper due to a clash and then hadn’t had chance to sit it. The subject has 3 papers, so her results today had been based on the 2 papers she’d sat, rather than an allowance for the third paper being made ( which had been done for her second mocks result). The school were quick to investigate and will go through whatever channels that have to be done to award her the same level that she has consistently performed at. Hopefully now, she will be able to sit her A levels. I’ve never ever queried a grade or exam before, but this was so different to her mocks and predicted grades that we needed to check. All’s well that ends well but quite a bit of time spent on the phone.
Hope your DD’s results day was smoother DAL.
I did spend some money taking DD3 out for a C*sta drink...some cold coffee type thing. I enjoyed and savoured a latte. It was to mark the occasion of getting her results.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

I'm glad they were quick to act and fingers crossed she gets the grades she needs. We had a problem with my eldest A level results and they've adjusted them but not to what was needed and that means bye bye to uni of preference so it's third choice. Make sure you get everything done to make sure she gets the right grades.5

Glad you got your daughter's grades sorted, certainly sounds like the school was on the ball once they realised.
We are still waiting for her btec result which is annoying as she sat and passed the exam in Oct and handed all the coursework in before Feb half term! Assumed that one would have actually had a non estimated mark? 🤷 But based on the exam she was due a distinction.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉9 -
HSL - Glad most of the results were as expected. Hope the double award gets resolved.
DAL - Hope gets sorted for BTEC too. My DD was due to sit one exam this year but was due to sit her mocks in April - so no idea if she is going to be credited for that course or whether she will have to sit it next year.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
