So today was WI after my first week on SW and I have lost 9lbs which is amazing but it just shows how much I have to loose and how much I was overeating beforehand.

I haven't been hungry at all, in-fact quiet the opposite, but looking back on my food diary it was perhaps a little low on carbs as I'm normally a carb monster so I was quiet strict with myself portion wise on those as I didn't want to get too carried away (alright...greedy) with "free" pasta, rice and potatoes.

Extra bonus is I'm loving cooking from scratch again with "real" ingredients and no beige food in sight and planning meals in advance means I've saved about £20 on my usual grocery shop today too not to mention at least another £15 from not having a weekly takeaway.

I'm definitely going to put unspent weekly takeaway money in a savings jar!!

    Today was
B Wheatabix with milk HE A &B with a little milk left for teas
L Was busy shopping so just a TA coffee (will syn the milk as over allowance) a melon fruit pack and a packet of quavers (haven't checked the total syns yet but sure it won't be over 15)
D Prawn spicy noodle stir fry with loads of speedy veg

Have a good weekend everyone x

    Wow well done Haylaluru :T:T:T

    Good Morning

Welcome to all our newbies and those creeping back in through the back door. You are all welcome on our friendly SW thread :)

Just grab a chair and a :coffee: and make yourself comfortable :D
  • Morning everyone! Congrats to Wiz, Lantanna, Haylaluru, Mary, Summerlady and anyone I've missed on your losses - well done!!

I've managed to lose -2lbs this week. A bit disappointing for week 1 when my motivation is high and I've stayed on plan, but it is pretty usual for me. Still it's a start for what I've got to lose.

Made a big batch of Nigella's butternut and sweet potato soup yesterday (without the oil). She swirls buttermilk with cheese in it to serve but I sometimes use a couple of syns on a small piece of stilton instead (or nothing), so that's been split between the fridge and freezer.

    Today's plan is:

B: Porridge (B) with 100 mls skimmed milk (2) with raspberries, strawberries and blueberries
L: A veg and cheese (A) omlette with salad, FF yoghurt
D: SW quinoa and chickpea burgers with loads of steamed veg (broccoli, cabbage, green beans, broad beans) as have loads of broccoli in the fridge and need to eat some of it. FF greek yoghurt

Will have some fruit for snacks and a dark chocolate kit kat (5) later.

    Have a good day all
  • Morning all! Well done everyone some great losses!

I ended yesterday on 16.5 syns - oops. My slowcooker died so I had to rustle up an emergency standby dinner - was really looking forward to gammon too!

    Today's plan:
B - overnight oats with ff yoghurt and frozen raspberries
L - jacket potato with freezer surprise (I think it's chilli....) and salad
D - roast chicken, roast potatoes, lots of veg and gravy (2)

Will probably add in an options hot chocolate (2) and Ryvita with laughing cow extra light (2.5) and perhaps a becks blue (2.5)

    Have a great day! X

    Good morning all.

Am off to the carvery for Sunday dinner in a bit, hubby doesn't want to cook today - will try not to have a pudding lol!

Has anyone done the scan bran challenge? I don't know if it's just a ploy to get people to buy it, because lets face it, it is rank! Apparently the orange pack is supposed to be better than the blue one, but they'd ran out of that one.

I bought 2 packs, so will get through them this week - it's supposed to help with your weight loss - I am tempted to buy All-Bran though, as you are allowed 50g of that as your HEXB. I had 3 scan bran with soup yesterday and 4 with hot milk, sweetener and sliced banana this morning. I will have another one later with cottage cheese or something (as you're allowed 5).

Need to drink lots of water too!

I maintained this week btw. Speak later x

I got weighed this morning and I have lost 1 lb. I am quite pleased with that so SHALA put me down for a 1 lb loss please, sorry it's not red or bold.

Great to have a loss and well done to toomuchworry and tie and Sally too.:T:T:T
It can be disappointing to stick to plan and not lose much but it will show eventually. Some people lose steadily others are more stop/start.

I don't think the Scanbran challenge is a ploy as such abbafan but just to help motivation a bit like the 777 challenge. I've never tried it myself as nobody ever has a good word to say about the taste of Scanbran. It works by upping the fibre so All Bran would have a similar effect.;) Enjoy the carvery, I have one planned for Tuesday.

tie, I have a jar of turmeric in the cupboard. Maybe I should put it on ebay!:rotfl:Glad to hear the job share has started.:)

madwithmoney, sorry to hear about your SC but you can easily rein back 1.5 syns. Is there a reason for keeping syns low toomuchworry (and may we call you tmw?:)). It's sometimes best to have all 105 syns a week and then cut back a bit if weightloss stalls.

I've portioned up the veggie chilli for the freezer this morning so that'll make some lunches for me.

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAS grapefruit, HEB toast, fried egg, ham, tomatoes and mushrooms
L: fishcakes with something Speedy (probably some stir fried veg and/or pickles)
D: roast lamb, SW roast potatoes and parsnips, red cabbage, broccoli, cauli, carrots
Syns: HM gravy and weekend wine:j

I love this idea and am going to copy it! My new recipe for this week can be the made-up soup I've just had, need to have a look through my books for next week/QUOTE]

Tried it the last time I did slimming world, a lot of the recipes I tried became favourites SW style paella, red thai curry, lasagna and cannelloni have become regular meals, I cook for 3 adults (DS is 19) and bulk out with extra veg, also means I often have leftovers to use for dinner at work.

I'd reccomend anyone trying it, its certainly increased my confidence and skills at cooking too and even when I have those weeks/ days off plan and falling off the SW wagon I still cook some family meals healthily - got to be a positive long-term!

Going to catch up with the thread now and post yesterdays & today's menus (whilst eating brunch!)

Off to the gym shortly, need to get these miles done. My turmeric is from Sainsbury's but I don't really use it. Not up to much today, gym, change the bed. Chopping up a salad and a fruit salad for the fridge and then relaxing with a film and a few gins later. Sounds productive enough for me for a Sunday !

You're right cazza, it's always good to try out new recipes.

Thanks for the pasta recipe larumbelle. I'll definitely try it. My DH isn't a salmon fan so I might substitute some bacon bits.
