So today was WI after my first week on SW and I have lost 9lbs which is amazing but it just shows how much I have to loose and how much I was overeating beforehand.
I haven't been hungry at all, in-fact quiet the opposite, but looking back on my food diary it was perhaps a little low on carbs as I'm normally a carb monster so I was quiet strict with myself portion wise on those as I didn't want to get too carried away (alright...greedy) with "free" pasta, rice and potatoes.
That's brilliant, well done!:T
You don't have to eat lots of carbs if you don't feel the need but eating them won't stop you losing weight. SW can be a bit woolly on free food saying eat as much as you like. That doesn't make sense to me. It works if you just eat three meals a day with each meal a third Speed but if you snack on free food in between the smaller the percentage of your intake the Speed becomes. I prefer too look at my food across a day and make sure I get a third of the total as Speed.0 -
Thanks Green Tiger :T for the recipe - it is now in the oven for dinner and some 'ready meals' during the week and been shopping so stocked up on fruit and veg. Even found time to wash the car this morning which may count as body magic though I think that's a bit of a stretch. Know I need to properly plan meals so that might be tomorrow's task; should have done it before shopping but was out and about so popped to the shops then.0

Amazing loss, well done Haylaluru!
Thanks Maman for the Syn info - not actually as bad as I feared!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Did you follow a recipe for the pasta larumbelle? I'd like to try that.
In a saucepan, boil up as much pasta as you think you'll want to eat.
Meanwhile, thinly slice one leek and some mushrooms, and top and tail some french beans and cut them in half. I aimed for about twice the volume of veggies to pasta as I thought they'd shrink down a lot and I like to have at least half speed on my plate if I am eating a very carby meal. So it worked out about half a punnet of mushrooms and just under half a packet of french beans.
Add a few squirts of frylight to a hot frying pan and fry down the leek for a minute or two. Then add the mushrooms and green beans and stir-fry until cooked. The mushrooms will produce enough liquid that you won't need to worry about any more frylight or anything.
Drain the pasta but keep a little of the cooking water. Add 70g (HEA) of Philly Light. Drain and add the cooked veg and stir. Add a little of the cooking water and keep stirring until the philly 'loosens up' and you have a lovely creamy sauce. I know that adding cooking water sounds disgusting, but it is really not!
Chop up as much smoked salmon as you think you will want to eatand stir in, along with plenty of freshly ground black pepper. Serve
It was really tasty, and I think it's a good way of making something quick and easy. And there are loads of adaptations you could make, broccoli or asparagus for instance would go well as veggies and ham, chicken, or fresh or tinned salmon or tuna as the protein.
Hope this helps0 -

Me either! And in fact, when I was temping I met this girl who complained that 'Slimming World doesn't work' every time she saw me eat anything, because she wasn't losing weight.Since I was doing well on it, I offered to take a look at what she was eating, expecting to find that she was forgetting to syn foods or something. Well, she was barely using her syns because she was bingeing on huge amounds of free foods, at least half a dozen muller lights a day and sometimes up to ten, on top of big meals.
I wasn't judgemental, because lets be honest most of us who end up on slimming world do so because we have at some point had unhealthy relationships with food and/or problems with portion control. I felt so bad for her. Her consultant hadn't commented on her eating habits but apparently had made a few snide comments about her lack of losses affecting the group average, making her feel even worse, making her go home and eat a whole chicken because she felt so miserable. Poor girl, I felt terrible for her.
I ended up taking her to my group and getting my consultant to have a chat with her, and she switched group because it was so much more supportive. I don't know how she did in the end but she'd lost a good 3 stone by the time I last saw her. I hope she did well.
Anyhoo... I had that bagel for breakfast. Bagel, Philly (half HEA) and the end of the YS smoked salmon I bought yesterday. 11 syns!!! What a waste! It was... okay I guess. I don't like wasting food but I might just get rid of the bagels. They're not worth it. I bought them in my pre-SW days and I'm not even that into them!
Lunch: grazed on crudites and the rest of the HEA philly, and ate two Alpen Lights (HEB) through the afternoon - I felt 'snacky' but not hungry... does anyone get what I mean or is it just me?
Dinner: Huge vegetable stir-fry with all the odds and ends of veggies that needed using up, and dried noodles. Used 1tsp oil for cooking and 1tsp sesame oil in the dressing, 4 syns.
I was going to have a few extra syns today since I had so few yesterday, but I don't really want them at the moment, I'm too full up
Welcome, Zeni! :hello:
Well done Haylaluru :T that's a fab loss!0 -
Hello. Can I join please.
Started SW on 1st Jan and will weigh in on Saturdays.
First weigh in today lost 3lbs so pleased with that
Would like to lose another 8lbby end of Feb.
Have averaged 7 syns per day this week.
Need to eat more speed fruit this week as I tend to opt for bananas (1 a day)0 -
Hi all especially the newbies :hello:
Well done losers and hugs to those in Need :A
WI with .4lb loss which I'm amazed at after new year carp eating
Four days back at work with no carb lunches must have helped :T.
My job share started when the children did, just shadowing me for now. Thursday wasn't great but Friday was much better and I felt I could step aside and get other jobs done (until I saw young man throwing things at her ).
Also finally had Dr appointment to get MRI results (ridiculous wait for appointment!). Anyway basically got curvature of lower spine with bulging discs pressing against spinal cord (or words to that effect). So moving on to physio and was also offered stronger pain relief which I declined. For one thing it's an expense I can do without! Have enough meds to pay for
.
Has anyone heard about the benefits of turmeric? Hubby has looked into it and wanted to give it a try. Went to sainsbobs today and think everyone and his wife has had the same thought as not a sign of turmeric anywhere. Even the continental shelves were empty! Hubby went to morrisons after dropping me and the boy at the cinema and had the same thing there. Wonder if it IS a miracle spice then.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend all :AIts not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Hi TakeitEazy Try any Asian supermarket or market stall for fresh turmeric which looks a bit like a root of ginger. They will also have dried packs in larger amounts in there and also try in the "world" section of Tesco rather than the spice section.Grocery challenge 2017 January £158.74/£200
