Just a quick heads-up for anyone who likes them and doesn't know - Alpen Light bars are currently on sale at £1 per box at a lot of the supermarkets (Tesc0, Sainsbugs, A$da) at the moment. Usually they are £1.50 - £2 depending on store. They are two for a HeB (or one for SP HeB) or 3 syns. They are scrummy but expensive at full price!

I like to cut carrots with a julienne cutter, dress them with soy sauce, rice vinegar and a tiny bit of synned sesame oil and sesame seeds. It makes a really nice far-eastern-style salad.

    This sounds tasty
Will have to give it a go. I saw the alpen lights were on offer but as I did my shopping order in a rush yesterday, I forgot to look at what flavours they had and add some. I prefer them to hi fi bars since the receipe was changed but I agree they are expensive.

Evening all and congrats to all the losers or STS'ers.

I'm looking forward to sleeping this weekend and then menu planning / cooking for the week so I have 'ready meals' for when I get back from work though I'm still struggling for space in the freezer and re-reading the books to try to memorise which fruits veg are speed.

Ditto for a lie in tomorrow but sadly it will be an early start on Sunday but hopefully I'll manage an afternoon nap.

I also have a freezer (and cupboards) full of food. A lot of which is not SW friendly. I suppose if I eat it in moderation, it will be ok.

So Happy Friday all  :j We got there :o

Last night was a bit disjointed as I went running and then had to cook tea (and eat this) before my food shop turned up. Then it was try and find a home for everything. I bought lots of veg last week to put in a beef casserole but I didn't get round to making it so my fridge is rather full with not much in it ?! I ended up having too many chocolate syns again. I need to work on this.

So its Friday and I'm relieved and here is my menu for today.

Breakfast: 0% fat greek yogurt and HEB weighed muesli
    Snack: red grapes and melon
    naughty snack: 2 finger kitkat
Lunch: White roll  with cheese, ham and chilli sauce + cheese and onion crisps. I realise this is not SW friendly but in my defence, the roll needed using up and I didn't have time last night to prep a salad. I don't know how many syns this will be. I feel bad about confessing about my lunch option as strictly its cheating but small steps getting back on track and also if SW is to work for me long term then lunch options like this (say once a week) are going to be part of the plan for me.

Dinner tonight is the rest of the ham with SW chips, fried eggs, mushrooms and peppers.

    Yum!

Have a good day all x

Hopefully no wine syns tonight but we will see...

    Morning,

Totally off topic but whilst its on my mind, anyone that likes a red lipstick and I'm not usually of the red lipstick brigade but this picked this up on a notion one day!

Max Factor Ruby Tuesday and Ive had so many compliments on it over the last couple of months, even from Mother and that's an achievement in itself! Wearing it today with an NYX Buttergloss in Tiramasu over the top to mute it out a bit for work. If you like a red lip, try it.

Brought out the pistachios last night, :o though my official start is not until Saturday. But still!

Anyway this week for me has all been about easing myself back in and getting back into a routine etc. If I'd went too hard this week it would have been too much of a shock after Christmas and the food on holiday.

Car off for its service, fingers crossed the bill doesn't rain on my parade later.

Reckon I will have 4 stone 2 - 5 lbs to lose this year to get back to target and trust me I will do it. I'm in the right frame of mind again. Nothing is going to derail me this year.

Thank goodness for the weekend, few gins tonight probably, SW in the morning, kitchen cleaning, grocery shopping and getting organised the rest of the time!

Glad to see you back in your target zone Maman, there was a chocolate fountain every night in holiday Beanie, lots of fresh fruit, meringues, flumps and the like for dipping! Funnily enough didn't see anyone dipping any Brussel Sprouts!

I wasn't at it either because I gave desserts a miss completely having gorged myself on starters and mains lol. But it did look good mind you!

Don't know if you know but blueberries are only a Free food and not a Speed food. It would be better if you could have some other berries, such as strawberries, raspberries or blackberries as they are speed. I usually use frozen mixed berries as I can just get out a portion to defrost and don't then have any waste.

Thank you for the reminder JoeDenise - I have some frozen berries in the freezer which I will have to use up as I'm clearing out my freezer ready for a big restock.
I don't know why I bought blueberries. I think they are pretty tasteless really, but they seem to last longer than other berries when I buy them fresh. Once I've finished these up I may go on to other berries.

I went off the wagon yesterday at an event. I was offered a chunk of Christmas cake and ate it all. It was only when I got home that I realised I was on SW again.

    Meal plan for today
Breakfast: Porridge with berries (still got loads of blueberries)
Lunch: Gammon slice, tinned tomatoes and mushrooms - may have an egg if I'm hungry.
Dinner: some kind of stew or casserole with lots of vegetables.
Snacks: carrot batons - better than crisps for crunching.

I haven't decided what to do about syns - it will depend on the stew recipe.

    Wishing everyone a successful day!

  • Morning all, I am so pleased to report a 4.5lb loss :D I am now back under 13st (albeit by half a pound). Feeling very motivated as I've eaten so well the last few days and not felt hungry at all.

    Today's plan is:
B - Carrot and cinnamon baked oats
D - Roast veg (aubergine, courgette, red onion, mushrooms, cherry toms and garlic) with couscous
T - Chinese takeaway (weigh day treat) - But going to be semi good and have chicken with mixed veg and boiled rice (no prawn crackers!!)
    HEA - Milk
    HEB - Oats
Syns - Sugar in coffee (no more than 3), Chinese (the rest)

Speaking of nuts Lantanna, I saw a post on Instagram the other day where someone had made themselves a cinema treat using their HEB hazelnuts and a melted freddo so had 23 chocolate hazelnuts to munch on for just 5 Syns - thought that was a really good idea!

    Have a good day all!

  • Fab weight loss Tete!!! Well done!!!

New day for me today after last night. Plan on going like this.....

Breakfast/Brunch: Beans on toast with grated cheese (HEA and HEB)

Tea: Mince and dumplings, peas, potatoes (Will work out syns for 2 dumplings and syn the gravy)

Snacks: Apple, orange, grapes and I've half a large jar of beetroot. I love the stuff so at least I'll get a little speed in somewhere.

Hope everyone has a lovely day! Catch up later. Planning on doing a little baking today to save money (doing grocery challenge too) so it will be a test to not eat the cakes/biscuits for the kids this weekend.

  • Thanks Choco and CP - I know it's mostly bloat this first week but I'm still pleased!

Meant to say before I'm going to do some batch cooking of soups today to have on standby. Going to do my fave SW Italian chicken and tomato with lemon in and going to attempt a potato/carrot/BNS concoction in the soup maker I found that I've not used for about six years. So wish me luck!

I've had real cravings for rice and pasta since Xmas, think I'm going to make a Beef Ragu and need to decide on something to do with chicken for the rice.

I need to get more chicken and fish into my diet again, Xmas and holidays saw me eating a lot of beef and processed pork products.

That's a brilliant start to the year tete. Well done!:T

Good to see you having some more Speed CP :D. wiz, has an issue with vegetables but she went down the list and realised just how many fruits and pickles she will eat and that's helped. Also, would you eat 'disguised' vegetables like in soups? How do you make your savoury mince? The recipe I use is free but maybe you like a thicker gravy.

    Today the plan is:
B - bacon medallion, poached egg and a slice of wholemeal toast (HEB)
    L - pasta n sauce
D - bolognaise sauce with salad

    Snacks - ham, clementines
    HEA - milk in tea

Welcome:) You should get back to target very soon. Well done on deciding to sort it now rather than let it go any further. I'd say you're a bit low on Speed too. You'd need a lot of clementines to make up a third of your food intake for the day;). Are you saving syns for the weekend?

Thanks for the heads up on the lippy lantanna. It's good to treat ourselves to things other than clothes while getting to target. Great to hear you sounding so upbeat.:)

    Today's EE plan:
B: NAs grapefruit, HEB toast, baked beans
L: LO ham hash with loads of cabbage and other veg
D: we're going to a party with a buffet so hoping to be able to have chicken and veg sticks but who knows? Maybe just beige food on offer:(.I think I'll have a SW snack before I go as well.
Syns: probably far too many but won't notice because of weekend wine!:j

Well I managed to survive the work from home day. Ate big meals so that I wasnt tempted to snack in between.

Don't work fridays, so my first day off to deal with, and also out for a meal tonight.
    Meal plan for today is:
Breakfast - muller light and apple
Lunch - Steak, mushrooms, tomatoes and beetroot
Dinner - Pork and veg. We are going as a group, so have ordered already which is good because I could make an informed decision and not be tempted by others choices. I have picked something that 'sounds' free but I know wont be due to cooking methods, but I saving all my syns and hoping it's enough.

HA is milk and HB is currently undecided
