Am thinking about buying a soup maker with some birthday money I had.

The reviews for the Morphy Richards 501016 seem really good.

    http://www.argos.co.uk/product/5574115

Does anyone else here have one? What are your thoughts please?

I tested one for Morphy Richards couple year agoa soup and milk maker and had nothing but trouble with it. It didn't work proper from day I received it. I thought it was me so took it to mums for her to have a go.

She said it was rubbish and she could make soup on hob quicker true that's what I thought.

I rang Morphy Richards and they collected soup maker thanked me for bad review :D.

Last year they asked me if I wanted to test another soup maker I said no even though you get to keep the products.

    Well done, kathrynha.

I hope your kitchen traumas are receding, Mrs_R.

    That’s great news, lantanna.

  • Feeling sorry for myself tonight. 0.5lb on and I don't know why. Stuck to plan 100% even over the weekend where I normally struggle.

Only thing I can put it down to is I'm suffering with an awful bad back at the moment. Wonder if because I'm half crippled, my muscles are retaining fluid to protect my spine?!

Spoke to consultant about the rice and whether it was a tweak; she said no then back tracked and said maybe. She said if I made it with milk it would be fine... but couldn't explain the syns when I asked. She said to check book for syns for rice if not used as you normally would but the book only talks about syns for grinding rice down to make flour. So who knows! Maybe I'll just avoid it just in case. I don't think even if it was a tweak it will have affected my weight anyway as the days I had it, I was below my syns anyway.

It was half term and I didn't eat breakfast a few days so could maybe be that.

I have a morphy richards soup maker. Just used it a minute ago. I love it. So quick, dead easy to clean and makes soup much smother than my bamix hand blender gets it. Agree that the only soup it hasn't worked for is the Heinz style soup - it burnt to the bottom.

    Food so far today:

    Breakfast: satsuma and pear
Lunch: Ham salad and a yoghurt
Dinner: slow cooker lasagne with Mediterranean Veg on the side. Used HeA

No syns used yet and still got my hifis to have for HeB.
  • Having a terrible week  Had a sneaky look at the scales this morning and it's showing another gain. I've been 100% on plan so I don't know where it's coming from

Got all excited in town today when I finally found Oreo thins. To make it even better they were on special offer :j I love Oreo's so can't wait to try them. Going to try and resist until after WI because I could happily eat the whole box!

I didn't even know soup makers were a thing. I got a hand blender for a tenner years ago and that does the job fine for me. I'm terrible for buying kitchen gadgets and only using them a handful of times. Have my eye on a pressure cooker at the moment but can't decide if I'd actually use it or not.

Congrats to all the losers so far this week :T

  • lushlifesaver the chicken and bacon with quark was really good! I had intended to leave some to go cold see if it would be one to keep in the fridge for sandwich fillings but accidentally ate it all..oops! haha. Brilliant idea about the curry powder I'll have to give that one a go next time we do it as we will definitely be doing it again :)

lantanna Good luck with the no chocolate and cheese! and wow that is something worth thinking about, 100 calories is nothing really, it's what one packet of crisps :/

Finishing on 8.5 syns today. Had one of mums Kallo - blueberry and vanilla rice cake things...I'd forgotten how nice they are, only 1.5 syns so the same as the chocolate digestives I keep pinching, and yet so much more filling. I need to have a proper rethink on how I'm using my syns I think, especially with how busy I'm going to be next month, want to get things figured out before we get there.

Weigh in tomorrow for me going to be thinking lots of light thoughts and hope by some miracle I wake up lighter :rotfl:

    Evening all
Oh don't get me started on tweaks  it makes me so cross. My last consultant (don't get me started on her either ) had a nasty habit of saying everything was a tweak. She also said that if you 'wouldn't usually eat something together then it's a tweak' I got very cross with her over this as I do eat some strange things and I said what's strange to one person isn't to others!
The kitchen is finally taking shape! The cooker is now working!! OH and I are going to try some recipes at the weekend- I've got a couple of SW mags knocking around so I'll have a look for recipes. I'll also pick up a couple of books at Group on Monday- definitely fancying the Fakeaway one!
I've spent all afternoon working really hard on my Masters application. It's finally gone  i'm trying to use the 'dead' time while I'm stuck at home productively- I submitted one of my assignments yesterday and wrote out my personal statement and study proposal today which meant I could get the form off (finally! Only took 2 months and endless nagging by my mentor for me to get it done :D) Feeling quite nervous now!
    Today's menu:
B: Strawberries with light and free yoghurt, decaf coffee with HEXA S/S
L: SW sweetcorn chowder (found in the depths of the freezer :D) HEXB wholemeal roll with 1tbsp Flora Light (2 syns)
T: Quorn mince, garlic, tinned tomatoes, mixed peppers, green beans, broccoli, baby cauli florets, carrots, spinach. 2 apples.
S: Wotsits (4.5 syns) HiFi Bar (3 syns)
Drinks were mostly NAS Cherry Vimto and sparkling water.
    Syns: 9.5
I'm trying to cut the syns back to 10 or under to see if that helps my weight loss any! Probably won't be on tomorrow- off to Nottingham to see X Factor Live :)
    Night all xx

    Same here 😴

    Today's plan:
    Breakfast - overnight oats
Lunch - ham and cottage cheese salad
    Dinner - stir fry
    Snacks - cereal bars

    HA - milk
    HB - oats

After raiding tuck shop yesterday, today I am being prepared and taking in some cereal bars to work. Thankfully I have plenty in because I bought some for my hospital bag next week for if the food is too yucky

Thanks for all your feedback on the soup maker.

I don't really understand the thing with tweaks to be honest!

Does anyone have any ideas for me for the taster session on Saturday please?
