Evening all
Still on the subject of names, well I'm known as Anne, which is very common but it's actually my middle name - my first names is Lois, yes, just like my user name. It was (and still is) very rare and I hated it when I was a child because people never pronounced it properly (and still don't). I adopted my middle name from the age of 10, much to the disgust of my parents! Someone on the thread said my user name was very like their real name and I've forgotten who it was, and I've been wondering ever since if they are another Lois...?
Lois is still my 'official' first name so if I get a phone call from the bank or have a hospital appointment they will ask for me by name and you'd be surprised at the struggle people have to say Low-iss, and the reason for my username is because I'm always saying Lois, just like Lois Lane - Superman's girlfriend....? *shrug*
The theory about fat cells is right, but I understood that some of us are born with more than others and if you have Liposuction the cells are removed and cannot return so although you can still put on weight, it won't be in the area that you've had Liposuction.
If anyone thinks losing weight is pointless because it will just return, I really believe it is possible to lose weight and keep it off and I think slimming world is the way to do it. Here on this thread we have several target members who have maintained for years and I know of several people in real life who have done it too.
LL
Ooh I love the name Lois, its quite unusual
Still on the subject of hard to pronounce names, my mum is Carolyn and the amount of people in the past who have called her Caroline or Carolann or something similar - so now she just uses Carol much easier to pronounce
Seeing the 1st page on here with all the target members and the length of time they've been at target really does give me hope :T :T I think the difference is that SW is a change of lifestyle rather than just a 'diet' and maybe that's where some go wrong. It's easy to get complacent and let things slip - last year I was 6lbs away from target and totally took my eye off the ball. Hoping the next time I get down there I can stay put.
Only had my curry syns yesterday and some salad cream so can afford a few more today. Not sure on menu plan yet .. fancying nacho style feast for tea but need to go out for mince first as I didn't go shopping yesterday
We have a tiny bit of sunshine out there so far, hope it lasts
Have a great day everyone xx0 -

Can I join you all in MSE SW?
I have been following SW for two weeks now. I bought a family planner diary today, which I am going to use to meal plan and record any snacks. I will also add my excercise (training for the moonwalk) and enter my weight etc.
Welcome to the thread jackomdj. Are you following SW at home or do you go to group? The family planner diary sounds a good idea to keep everything together and it'll be there to look back at if you have a blip or for ideas for different things to eat when you can't think what to have - used to happen to me quite a bit but now menu plan for a month at a time and it's easy to just have a look each evening to see what needs to come out of the freezer or needs to be bought.
The menu plan isn't set in stone so if I get a bargain - like this week a managed to get a huge cauliflower for 99c in France so we had a cauliflower cheese for dinner last night instead of what I'd planned. Still have half the cauliflower left!
Thanks Maman for the :T! but I definitely need to try to be good this week in case it was just a fluke!
Today's plan:
B - bacon, egg, mushrooms, beans
L - LO quiche & salad - including pickled beetroot, syn free onion chutney (the last of it so need to make some more!); pickled onions
D - Lamb tagine, pomegranite couscous
HEA - milk
HEB - 30g dried apricots (0.5); 10g almonds (0.5)
Syns - sultanas; weekend wine:D
Will probably go a bit over syns but not by much so easy to rein back in Monday - Wednesday before WI!

Good morning everyone,
For some reason I've lost a further 2lbs. One or two people are saying I'm looking too thin. I'm still within the healthy weight margins, 5'8" and 10.05 stone. I personally have never felt so good and I am very happy with this weight. Why do people feel the need to express their opinions about weight? (these are not close family/friends) when I was 4 stone heavier people never said, that I could do with shifting a few lbs, so find it at odds with this latest development. I do find it very hard to find a balance and I am basically still following the plan. The difference over the short term is I did "dry January,".
Hope everyone is OK, and losing/maintaining etc.
Arkers x0 -
Arkers - people can be really rude at times! If you feel happy with your weight then just ignore them.

Lois Lane That's very interesting re the fat cells thing, and makes sense. I do think slimming world is a way of losing and keeping it off also, I think there are so many simple changes that once you've made them they become instinct I think.
Arkers - grrr at people! It's funny isn't it because it's not a stigma to be thin people feel like they can say what they wantas long as your in healthy ranges and happy with where you are sod em! haha
I feel a bit iffy this morning
Breakfast - HEB - weetabix - made mainly with hot water and 1 syn for sugar
Lunch - I'm going to try doing potato skins... with beans and bacon instead of cheese because I think we're all out of quarkand I need my HEA for milk!
Dinner - I fancy the baked meatballs but not sure if I'll get anyone else on board with that so might just be pasta
Snack - yogurt, and fruit, I have passion fruits that need eating!
Going to try and stick to 5 syns today to make up for yesterdays waffles, so 4 of those left, if I make it to bed time I'm going to treat myself and have the last black forest truffle that I got for Christmas... if not it'll be digestive thins or hi fiI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0 -
Mad_with_money wrote: »Hi all, been awol mainly due to a nasty bug wiping hubby and I out this week. Feeling better now though, have managed a loss of -2 1/4 lbs mainly due to not eating and having my head stuck down a toilet. :rotfl:
Congratulations on your weightloss all the same but it's a bit too drastic for my liking.:D
Well done to you too arkers.I think sometimes people are genuinely concerned you might be ill and ask whether you're losing weight deliberately. That's fair enough. Others, who know you've been 'dieting' are just envious of your willpower.:D
I've been in target but hovering too close to the top for too long. I've obviously found a way of staying at a stable weight but I need to give it a bit of a push to get a few pounds off so I don't keep dreading I'll go out of range. I expect you feel much the same denise. The problem for me is finding a few weeks where I can control what I eat enough to lose those pounds but life gets in the way!;)
I've had my SW breakfast (boiled eggs), don't fancy lunch yet and planned dinner (BGTY burger, chips and green stuff). We're going to the local theatre tonight so I'm toying with the idea of having no wine syns even though it's Friday. That'll make up for yesterday and anyway I don't much like the little bottles they sell. I also need to avoid the ice cream but that's become ridiculously expensive (£3.50 for a tiny tub) so the mse in me will help there.:money:
Incidentally, the SW chips I made earlier in the week were probably the best ever and that included my experiment in making my own frozen oven chips. I used Maris Piper potatoes rather than any old bog standard whites so that may have helped.
Refreshing to hear the consultant I met this week not lecturing people on 'cheats'. Someone in the group was raving about pizza made with a Smash base and consultant said it's a cheat but if you're still losing then go for it!0 -
Latanna, I hope you are having a nice day.
Well done everyone that has lost.
Mad with money, I was questioning whether I should be happy with my weight loss the other week, when it was because of loss of appetite rather than sticking to plan, and I was told it was still a loss, and I should be happy however I got it, so I'm am saying the same to you, although hoping at the same time you feel better soon.
Got on okay at the hospital this morning. Have had a lot of questions answered, and although I'm still terrified, the consultant is really positive.
They want to get on with stuff quickly, so there isn't much chance for the tumour to grow, so I am booked in on the 27th. The operation will be done under a local anaesthetic, and is keyhole so less risk and recovery time, and there is a 95% chance of it successfully killing the tumour, with no need for further operations or treatment, although they will continue to monitor the situation for a number of years to make sure it has all gone, and doesn't come back.
So generally positive, and quite a short wait. Just want to get it over with so I can stop being so scared.Zebras rock0 -
I am so pleased for you kathrynha that things are in place for you so quickly & that they are happy that they have caught things early.
