Your sauce sounds delicious Kathryn, how did it taste?

It was nice, but maybe a tad less garlic next time, I can still taste it this morning :o

Well I'm now officially a SW member. Paid for the 12 week countdown last night, so fully committed. Start weight is a little higher than I would have liked, but hopefully that's the last time I ever see that weight.
Read all the info when I got home last night, got my head around the plan, and trying to plan for the week. Downloaded the app, which is really useful for the branded food.

I think I have worked out my breakfasts. Currently been having fat free yogurt with a spoon full of lemon curd and some grape nut. Plan to swap this for a muller light and some fruit on work days, to save my HexB for other stuff.

Reckon I can sort out evening meals pretty easily too. It's just a matter of swapping sauces and mixes for ones I make myself, and not putting grated cheese on all my pasta dishes and chilli.

It's the lunches I'm struggling with more. Currently having wraps with various fillings, but the wrap is 8.5 syns which is a lot. Thankfully todays wrap is the last I have in, but going to have to find a replacement, but I'll probably use me HexB for that.

Plan is to use my HexA for skimmed milk pretty much every day, because I can't live without my coffee, although that does mean I will have to count all cheese as syns :s

Just got in from work again :( 24 hours work in two days is not fun and not good for leaving time to prep food plans for SW!

Of course you can come back Counting Pennies, good to see you! and welcome back to all the other returnees too, it's great to see you all x

I have HLWW on record, and Celebrity Fat Farm :D love all the weight loss programmes! Anymore we're missing?

Lantanna - i'm interested in your challenge 2017 miles in 2017.. 5 miles a day is about 10k steps isn't it? How are you monitoring yourself/keeping track of your total? I've only done 1.5 miles today :o need to get my butt moving this year though.

Anyway onto business I've grabbed everyone's targets, how's everyone getting along? :D Here's the list check you're on it and I've picked up the right target for you and if not give me a shout.. we've pledged nearly 20 stone in total

Right. I need to get back on plan today as I didn't weigh yesterday. I know if I had weighed, it would have been a gain because my scales at home showed a plus of a few pounds and these weigh me less than the slimming world scales so at class it would have been even more!

Last night I was too tired to do any food prep for lunch today nor meal plan properly for the week ahead but I got up and decided I’d make soup which I did so here is my meal plan:
Breakfast – fruit box – melon, grapes, orange and grapefruit
Mid morning – chocolate snack – malteser bunny (allow 9 syns) or treat maltesers (allow 5 syns)
Lunch – Tomato and pepper soup
Tea – not sure. Either SW chips and eggs with bacon medalions or Be good to yourself chilli or birds eye paella.
Obviously there will be syns if I have the chilli or the paella. I expect I’ll be over my syns today if I have the chocolate syns as well but small steps…

Morning all! I know it's probably just psychological but I already feel less bloated this morning after eating well yesterday, and I soooo enjoyed my spuds for tea. I don't eat them very often as I live alone and can't get through the enormous packs fast enough, but may use them as a sub for pasta and rice more often.

Oh dear Kathryn - at least you'll keep the vampires at bay :D

Out of interest what do people do for lunches where there are no facilities to heat anything up?

I have this dilemma as my job involves being a bit on the hop and I usually end up eating lunch sitting in the car somewhere. I tend to avoid sandwiches as the amount of bread allowed for HEB isn't enough to fill me, and I'd have the added Syns for spread too. My favourite thing to have is roast veg couscous - easy to prepare while you're making tea the night before and still tasty cold. There's always salad of course and cold pasta. Or you could invest in a good food flask and have soup. Would be interested to hear others' suggestions.

I think that show has been on before tete, il tape it anyway.

I love January , all the weight loss programmes and articles and positivity for new starts.

I realised this when I started watching - it didn't hold my attention last year and it didn't last night either. So faddy.

I must say I've seen a lot of weight loss backlash this year - so many "You're more than a number" memes and "I'm going to unfollow everyone who talks about diets in January" statuses - makes me feel almost furtive about wanting to improve my health (and yes, look and feel better in my clothes).

I stood in front of the mirror in my underwear and took 'before' photos last night. TBH I haven't looked too closely in a mirror for a while and the amount my tummy is sticking out, it's no wonder I'm struggling to my my socks on. I'm going to look at them whenever I want to indulge. I might do some measurements as well if I can find my tape.

I'm considering joining online again as I'm struggling to find some Syn values - looked up four things yesterday and only two were in my 2016 book. But money is tight. I'll see if I can google them and I guess only eat things that I'm sure of the value of. Hmm.

    Today's plan is:
B - Apples and grapes with FF nat yog
D - Bacon, mushroom and tomato scrambled omelette thing
T - Pork steak (fat removed), broccoli, and I'm going to try some sort of leek and potato hash.

Just realised that's a lot of pork :o HEA is milk, Syns and HEB TBC.

Shala I nicked the idea from another thread! There are no steadfast rules, do it how you want. Some people are using there fitness trackers to calculate what they do every day.

I'm just going off what I do on the treadmill! It will motivate me into going to the gym.

I can't wait to get some weight off - hopefully that has happened by the end of this month.

When you can taste garlic whilst eating yogurt it isn't good :(

My lunch dilemma is similar, that I don't think there is enough allowed for HEB to fill me.
I have got access to a microwave but we can't eat hot food at our desks and I haven't got time for a proper lunch break.
Saw some lovely SW lunches on pinterest. Platters of really nice looking salad with sliced meats, HB eggs, olives, couscous, etc that look gorgeous, but mine definitely wouldn't after having been in my packed lunch box being shaken around during my commute and then sitting on my desk all morning.
I am thinking couscous or pasta salads are the way to go for me. Thinking pasta with some shredded lettuce, grated carrot, cucumber, coriander leaves and either cold meat or tuna, then looking at what salad dressings are free

For flasks, I have a proper thermos make food flask, but find the food is tepid by lunch time. Do have a normal thermos that claims to keep stuff hot for 12 hours, and not tried it for that long yet, but at 6 hours it's still really hot. Because it's a normal flask rather than a food flask it's probably only suitable for soup though.

  • Kathryn - Grated carrot is one of my favourite things on SW - it's really filling as part of a salad and I put it in all sorts of sauces to bulk them out. It's one of the few Speed items that I genuinely enjoy!

Balsamic vinegar is free. Fat free dressings of 50 cal or less per 100ml are free.

Starry Eyed - The Nando's marinade is either 1 or 1.5 per Tbs depending on which one you used.

The Laughing Cow Light are 1.5 each but if you get the Extra Light (the one with the purple lid) they are 1 syn each and to be honest I actually prefer them! Even better that I save 1/2 syn on each.

I'm trying to empty my outside freezer this week before I go on holiday - not much left in there now. Hoping that I can use up some stuff from my inside freezer and move it over and turn off the outside one. The only SW thing in there at the moment is a loaf of WM bread!

    Today's plan:

    B - tinned fruit & quark
L - Omelette & salad - lettuce, tomato, cucumber, beetroot, cornichons, pickled onions, pepper
D - butchers low fat chipolatas (2 for 1/2 syn), mash, cabbage, green beans, syn free onion gravy
S - 2 Ryvita & Laughing Cow Extra Light - will only have if I feel peckish during the evening

    HEA - milk
    HEB - Tinned fruit
    Syns - chipolatas 1/2; Laughing Cow 1; 2 Ryvita 3
