I now have 2 accounts - a classic account which used to be a classic plus but I downgraded and a second account which is a brand new classic Plus account which has contactless 5% back until September0

What I was getting at is those with more than one classic plus are unable to achieve your advise0 -
Ah sorry I see what you mean. Well I asked them what would happen if I had 2 classic plus accounts and they said I could have downgraded both and then opened a new classic plus account with no problem ie leaving me with 3 accounts.0

Not sure what you mean. You said "What I was getting at is those with more than one classic plus are unable to achieve your advise ". I said yes they can.0

Don't accuse me of abusing people when I haven't. You're the one who can't understand posts made in plain, standard English; I suggest you go back and read them properly. I'll have to make a new thread now to warn people about probably losing interest for January as you don't think it could possible affect TSB accounts.Yorkshire_Pud wrote: »You just don't get it do you. By the way this thread which I started was for TSB.
This is because the advice you have given here is wrong, and could cost a lot of people a fair bit of money, so I suggest you stop being so cocksure of yourself by using phrases like 'of course it won't'. I'd better quote it here in case you try to edit it out:Yorkshire_Pud wrote: »If you read my post again you should see there are two distinct scenarios, one for DDs set up for December but paid in January due to the Saturday 31st to January 2nd holiday and the other contrary to your assertion, is that DD,s set up for January as mine is DO COUNT for the January DD requirement for BOS interest. So yes if your DD wasn't due to go out on 31st December and didnt go out prior but was actually set up for January 2017 then of course it won't count as a December DD.0 -

So I currently have £3k in my TSB classic+, which in turn is funding my First Direct Reg Saver @ £300pm.
I've had a little look about, but can't see any better than TSB's now 1.5% for an instant access account to also fund the FD Reg Saver.
Does anyone know better than me on this?
I would move the excess £1500 into another account that pays any interest, and pay the FD regular saver from there, as you are not getting any interest on anything over £1500 now.
Tesco pays 3% on any balance (No DD or fee)
BOS Vantage pays up to 1.5% - 3% (tiered interest) (DDs needed)
Santander 123 1.5% (with fee)
All better then keeping in TSB, unless you have 2 accounts, (Sole & Joint paying 3% each and want ease)I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards.
