Can i join please??
part of this challenge will be to post 3 things (daily if you can) that you are grateful for. I would also like everyone to post something that they would like to have achieved by the end of the year. For me, 2017 will be the year that I become debt free and I would also like to take part in a 10k. my goals are to run 600 miles, i did 500 last year, and get back (near) to 10 stone.
Usual rules:
The challenge runs from January 1st to January 31st.
Set a NSD target, aim for at least 15. I'll aim for 15
Donate to a charity - will donate to food bank
Pay to your debt or savings first - ok will do the maths tomorrow
Post as often as you can - will try my best
January's rules:
Look at your usual food budget and aim to spend 10% less. i was planning £50 a week for two afults and three children, ill do my best to lower it

Post something that you would like to have achieved by the end of 2017 - think about how you will achieve this, break your goal down into small achievable steps.
Organise some cheap (free if possible) things to do with family or friends. January is a long and usually boring month, -Still here..... but working on that!0 -
Hope everyone had a safe and happy new year.

Happy new year turtles.
Sorry I've been absent for a while. Things went a bit pear shaped here in Nov/Dec including a disaster with DHs car which has set us back with our CC debt. However, DH finally passed the part of his training that he was stuck on and sailed through the next part too, so now has 1 test left before he is fully qualified and can hopefully find work.
Going to aim for 20 NSDs this month. I was planning to set a shopping budget of £250, but will try to keep this down to £225. We spent Christmas Day with the in laws so don't have many left overs to use up. But have done a stock take of what we have and done a meal plan for the next week.
I'm allowing a £25 days out budget for the month. Hoping to watch some rugby next week if weather permits (taking a flask and snacks with us), use our castle pass, and attend a free day of workshops at the local theatre.
My aims for 2017 are:
- to finally get rid of this last credit card
- for DH to find work
- to have my temp contract extended, or hopefully made permanent
- be in a position to buy either the house we are currently renting, or another nearby
- to get pregnant (8 months of trying so far and no joy)
Today I am grateful for:
- DH bringing me coffee in bed
- Feeling fresh as a daisy as I didn't drink last night
- 2 happy and healthy children0 -
Today I am grateful for:
Full cupboards
A warm and tidy house
Lots of coffee
Today was not a NSD but that's ok, it is kinda my New Years Day tradition to go to the shops and stock up on half price (or lower) Xmas items. So I did that and bought the OH some tissues.
Tidied the house, now about to cook a warm and soothing winter meal (pie and veg I think) then settle down in front of the TV.Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020

Really want to move this year and need to be debt free for this to happen.
Plan - NSD, take lunch to work, no buying stuff for the sake of it, stop drinking, no takeaways, no new clothes or make up unless needed, sell/donate/dump the stuff I no longer need and make regular payments to my credit card. As well as the above I really want to be more organised and declutter my home!
