  • Thank you purplevamp and whiteguineapig :o

We are going over to my partners parents place tomorrow to pick up his safe with all his paperwork in as we need one of his benefit letters to show the letting agent his proof of income(this particular letting agent deals with people who are on low incomes/benefits) which I will then take down there to show them on Tuesday. I will then not worry about it for Wednesday so that I can enjoy my birthday and then from Thursday I will eagerly await contact from the letting agent/landlord to ask me to go do all the paperwork/pay first month's rent and deposit etc. etc. and hopefully get a moving in date :D

Plus my partner needs to go through all the stuff that's in his safe aka decluttering :rotfl:

I am going to spend today trying to do some more sorting out if I can. Partner pulled out a few DVD's he said I can try and sell as he doesn't want them any more.

After I've been to the letting agents on Tuesday I'm then going to a friends house to do some DIY for her as she's no good at it at all :rotfl:

Once I get home on Tuesday then the birthday celebrations and the wait for news on this flat can really begin! :D

I use odd socks for at home days, dog walking etc. Seem to remember years ago mismatched socks was fashionable. Not in this century though

I've got loads of paired socks so wearing the odd ones wouldn't make sense. It goes against the grain to just throw anything in the bin though - which is one of the reasons I'm drowning in stuff

I think a lot of charity shops sell clothes that aren't good enough to sell in the shop as rags, so could put them in a bag with other clothes. The trouble is that I'm always worried in case the shop looks down on my donation and if I have that in mind then I'll end up not going back, which would be self defeating.

There are lots of charity shops around here but most of them are difficult to park outside.

I have a bag and a box on the go for the shops so will hopefully be gone this week and I will then list the items.

I've just decluttered the cutlery drawer and put the cutlery tray in the dishwasher and cleaned the drawer out.

How on earth does something that has only ever held clean cutlery get so dusty/dirty

I have actually wondered this many a time!

And I think I have the answer!

Say if the drawer is a bit open, and you're preparing food, crumbs can fall in.

Also you're more likely to reach for a clean knife/fork/spoon right after you've prepared whatever you're going to eat, so you may have crumbs on your hands.

    Just my two cents :o

we have donation bins on car parks and supermarket carparks here, and also at the recycling places, very large bins, for clothes, shoes, there is also (at our tesco) a cash for clothes cabin, i think this might go on the weight but not sure

We also have this down in Cornwall.

Almost every supermarket car park has a few different container sized bins for old clothes, glass, papers etc.

Have made use of them plenty of times. Saves going to the tip all the time :o

Ours have all changed. The council no longer has recycling bins in the local library or council run car parks.

We used to have grey wheelie bins for non recyclable rubbish and a green box for paper, glass and cans. We could also put bagged clothes in the box. Then they got rid of the green box and gave us a brown wheelie bin for cardboard, tins, glass and plastic bottles. However, they don't collect clothes any more.

Most of the supermarkets have also got rid of their recycling facilities but I noticed recently that one of the local Asdas still has some charity recycling bins so may take some stuff there - at least I won't have to worry about what the bin 'thinks' of my donations :T
