Don't be a 2016 Remoaner - voting Brexit was our finest hour

In case we forget, and given everything that came after it is easy to forget, at twenty minutes to five on the morning of 24th June this country did something absolutely amazing in 2016. Despite warnings about the dire consequences from the International Monetary Fund, the Bank of England, the Treasury, the OECD, Jean-Claude Junket (oops, sorry, Juncker), the President of the United States, the Prime Minister and Eddie Izzard, the UK voted to leave the European Union.

If we're to start showing the word we're open for business then we need to start doing things like
1) build sufficient runway capacity
2) stop bringing cities and airport hubs to a standstill with strikes - people have the right to strike but we should have contingency like the army on standby.
3) grit major roads in advance when we KNOW temperatures will fall. It's unbelievable that motorways are closed.
I'm sure there's more but our current performance is pathetic.0 -

Agree. I have not felt such elation and optimism for a long time as I did after the vote.
I do, however, feel utter contempt and disgust (and some surprise), at the many attempts that have been made to overturn the democratic vote since then. These have generally involved figures with vested financial/power interests who I would never support and have always viewed with a degree of mistrust/contempt (which has now not been proved misplaced), such as Bliar, Mandelsohn, Kinnock, Osborne, Clegg-Farron, Sturgeon, Cameron, Cooper, Corbyn and his momentum/militant tendency adherents, the 'lords', wealthy celebrities and so on in our country – not to mention those outside Britain, such as the appalling petty dictators Juncker, Merkel, Tusk, Schultz and that scarily ugly Belgian individual, and (to me sinister and manipulative) global 'financiers' such as Soros. There's also the BBC, which is supposed to be impartial and balanced but most definitely is not (I realised the other day that I now very rarely watch BBC TV programmes, apart from some historical documentaries on BBC 4), and every time I switch on the radio, I soon switch it off in annoyance.
Whether or not these undemocratic people did succeed in their aims, I would never vote for the interests they represent, in any area. I would also foresee real trouble from a majority of British people if their wishes are not carried out; they've been failed very badly by those of all parties who are supposed to represent them, something that has built up over several decades (mainly from the time of Blair's position in power). I can also foresee real, growing problems on mainland Europe by the citizens of the countries that are currently in the EU, due to the failure of the Eurozone, the migrant crisis that is increasingly out of control, the democracy deficit and the huge differences between the cultures of the countries that are in the EU (which will ultimately mean that they will disagree on too many things to make any kind of political union viable).0 -
I, on the other hand, think that the UK decided to slit its throat and every attempt is being attempt to save its life before it draws its last breath. Can't blame us for trying to wrap bandages, can you?0

I too was a little ashamed, expecting there to be a 100% vote to leave. Never mind though we're still leaving all the same so we can hold our heads high..."I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like his passengers."0 -
