Weekly Flylady Thread post xmas 27 Dec

I was always brought up that the house had to be tidy/washing and ironing done for New Year and some of the older people even tried to get knitting/crafting projects finished as well. I think it's the idea of starting with a 'clean slate' or 'as you mean to go on'. ie if house tidy at new year it will stay that way. I'm not risking the wrath of an untidy house for the whole year ahead and guess it's a good starting point:rotfl:0

Morning all,
Just popped on to say happy new year to you all. Thanks to every last person for your support. It really helps. I'm still struggling but less so. I resolve to stick to the lists more this year, lose weight, get fitter, the usual stuff!
Right, of for some lunch, then back to flat pack building.0 -

Bedding now on airers, dry washing now put away. Turkey in oven for dinner later. Back to resting the foot.
I'm another who really needs the fly lady lists. One to give me some direction but mostly so I don't feel I'm the only person in the world cleaning while everyone else is having fun.
Valli - I'm not on fb -hope all is ok soon for you xSpend less now, work less later.0 -
Happy new year all
I went to bed at 4amand the kids were up at 8 (a brilliant lie in for them) so today basically involves a lot of sofa and tv time!
Have lovely days all and I'll be back on tomorrow xxMFW

I have been chilling too today, as didn't have a very good night. Thought I'd cracked it with DD as she asked if her 2 besties could have pizza and stay after work which I agreed to. So we all saw in New Year together until 1.20 when she went outside to talk to friends and then disappeared . She's still only 17 so I was annoyed especially as I couldn't track her on her phone. I went to bed but couldn't sleep for worrying but they came back after an hour with a couple of lads she's known for years. I think the lads left just after 3 but the girls chatted away until at least 4 so I am so tired.
Have sorted some washing today and machine is now on 2nd load. I don't believe in the old superstitions. I'm afraid if someone's time is up whether I wash clothes or not will make little difference. Today however is the day more people die of natural causes than any other day of the year!
Still have so much Christmassy type food to munch I don't think I'll be cooking for a few days so need to work out what will freeze if I can make room.
For now it's back to the assignment which is not going too well. At least 8 hours on it yesterday and haven't completed the first section yet.Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
Hope the car doesn't work out too costly, Valli xx
Taken the tree and everything down. Kids weren't too fussed when I suggested it, so thought we may as well crack on. They are boxed up in spare room - I will put them in the loft when I've gone through what's left up there, this week some time.
Played junior monopoly twice, made a fairy for DD out of one of her craft kits (bit fiddly!) and we even had a tidy in her room. I've moved the dolls house to the other side so she's more play room, and we've set the other corner up as a bit of a dressing tableaww she has her handbags, crowns, lipgloss and everything, all organised.
She even volunteered a few toys to go that she's grown out of :A and remembered to switch her light off lol.
Really need to mop the kitchen floor... Might do when kids are in bed. Yeah right, lolBossymoo
Away with the fairies :beer:0 -
(hugs) to those whose new year hasn't started as they liked.
Mine could be better, but I am focusing on the positives. Ds and I are staying up tonight until 12 as he was with his dad last night so wants to spend a new year with me. I am wondering if I can get to 10 and claim its 12
I am not working tomorrow so at least we should be able to have lie in.
Sink has been shinned and I cleared another kitchen cupboard.0 -

All I can say is 'Oh dear'.
I took 2 bags of rubbish out, did a load of washing, shook out some rugs and swept the floor.
Highly unlikely anyone tall dark and handsome would cross the threshold late at night, or ever, with or without coal!
Any chance I can be excused'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
Not sure what happened Valli as I don't do Facebook, but I'm sending supporting vibes and hugs your way.
I hope everyone had as good a night as they wanted last night.
Bit weird here had the kids round and saw midnight in with them, dd1 rang me early hours and we chatted for a bit then I fell into deep sleep. This morning Dh told me he heard someone on our drive at about 3am moving about under our window near the kitchen he looked out and a man in a dark hoodie was sitting on our garden wall right near the house by the time he went downstairs there was no sign of anyone but the planters under the kitchen window where moved.
Bit concerning as it makes you wonder who's about at night.
Had family round for dinner today and most of them are still here
Hugs good wishes and grateful thanks to all on this thread, I really aprechiate you all.SPC~12 ot 124
