Where can you buy a detached property in England for under £160,000?

OP, I know that you have specified England - great that you feel you can move any where to live. Have you considered Scotland? Although the gap in property prices between England and Scotland has narrowed, there is still a bargain to be had outside of the major cities (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen etc.)
Just watching a 'new' episode of Location Location Location and for £190k they are looking at a 2 bed 1900's terrace, street parking, small garden. Yet we have just paid that same price for a 10 yr old (local builder known for good quality) 4 bed detached on private estate, drive for two cars and garage. The three bed versions of the house go for about 159,000. An area 7 miles away (Glenrothes) you can get a 4 bed detached for around 160,000 on a newish estate.
East Fife is about an hours drive from Edinburgh, good train links to same from several stations.

I see that the other Agent that the property is with have taken the photo at such an angle that you don't get to see the bottom of the washing machine.

Well - that hasn't done the vendor much good with doing that:cool:. I can see so much more clearly on their photos that I would be taking a very suspicious look at the state of the walls - and am now cynically wondering about that odd putting tiles down on bedroom floors.0 -

They don't look bad. That second one had me thinking "Attention to detail - that's rare" and so (apart from that wierd shower curtain in part of bath thing on a bathroom) that vendor has probably given thought to every aspect of getting that house together.0 -

Yeah! So many times I've viewed houses where the vendor looks like they just decided to put the house on the market that morning, and have upped and walked out leaving filthy dishes in the sink, haven't hoovered, have left their underpants on the radiators, etc ...! It's always a pleasure to view one where the vendor actually cares.0
