What are your plans for 2017?

I too, don't normally do resolutions - but by the end of 2017 I would like to be less fat.
I went from a very active job, to a very sedentary one, gave up smoking and carried on eating(and drinking wine).
I am going to start by making sure I walk everyday, starting slow, a mile around our local park, which is 30 seconds away  then build it upto a reasonable distance - enough to make me 'glow'Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

*Nods vigorously* The minute someone mentions the "R" word to me, my eyes glaze over and I tune them out. I'll only ever get anywhere if I think of them as "aims" so that I don't beat myself up (or not as much anyway) for failing.
This is why I've listed my goals and the steps I need to take to achieve them, but haven't slapped any limits on the time I'd like to take to get there. This way there is more chance of me keeping plugging away until I get there, rather than giving up because I'm 'only' halfway there and in sight of a deadline that was put there by me in the first place. Been there, done that. I'd like to think I'm getting wise to some of my own excuses now0 -
I have lots of things I want to do and I never get any of them done because I get distracted before I get very far. I'm a bit of a dilettante TBH. So I have written down EVERYTHING I have thought of doing and I am aiming to be able to tick five of them off. Doesn't matter what they turn out to be and I'm not going to beat myself up about the ones I don't do.
The only exception is that I have made a real resolution to do weight bearing exercise on a regular basis. Actually that's not an exception because it doesn't come under the heading of things I want to do at all! But I do want to increase my bone density without taking bisphosphonates which disagree with me badly. So an aim is to make a weights workout part of my regular routine three times a week in addition to all the walking I already do (sadly walking doesn't do much for the bone density in your spine though it helps your hip)It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
I want to drink less alcohol, I'm not an alcoholic but I do drink more than the average units say you should. I use wine to switch off from work which is a bad habit I have gotten in to. I'm starting this by doing dry January.

It's very supportive, non judgemental and plenty of hints and tips whichever way you want to go. I'm sure there'll be plenty of company for Dry January but the thread runs all through the year.0 -
I've recently come back to MSE after a year away. I think Christmas shhoppping gave me a wake up call. In 2017 I plan to continue meal planning (but be more aware of previous meals so we don't waste fresh produce).
I plan to start
- taking care of myself more - my OH has been concerned this year that I've been working too much and in poor spirits. I'm going to start journalling and ,make sure I take at least half an hour to myself each day. Tied in with this, before bed I'm going to read and cut out iPad usage (unless it's my kindle app!). I don't know why but in the past few years I've found it hard to nod off without background noise of TV/DVD/music and I'm sure it's not doing me much good!
- keep up with the housework.
- keep track of finances. I haven't found myself in difficulty but I have been more aware towards the end of each month that things have been tight.
- get active - not just exercise but doing things I really enjoy!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

The only biggie for me next year is to continue with my weight loss. I did well in 2016 losing nearly 3 stone. To get to my mid-range BMI I have 2 stone to lose. Not expecting that to be easy, the toughest part will be maintaining it.
I've signed up to the weightloss thread, Knit Witch there keeps us on track and it's a great place for support, accountability and meal ideas.
Apart from that I'm going to be extra kind to myself and not set myself up with too many challenges for once!
Best of luck everyone with your 2017 goals :A0 -
I have thought a lot about 2017 over the past couple of days. I think it could be a challenging year for us. DS1 is struggling with his health (he has a long term illness), DS2 will do his GCSEs, DH has mild health issues, Dad is going to have treatment for skin cancer again and there is some uncertainty about both of my jobs! So the first thing will not to get too stressed about any of this. Other than that it will be:
To control my finances and reduce debt, not buying anything that I dont actually need.
I did the whole Kon-Mari thing (which I highly recommend) but I need to keep on top of this so that it doesnt slide.
Continue to work on my fitness, get out cycling with DH and maybe do a cycling challenge.
Not to be overwhelmed by my anxiety and to be more honest with other people about the reason why I sometimes cant do things or go to places.
And probably the most important of all - regularly count my blessings!0 -
This year I intend to get a new job I love my current job but I need more hours. I will be continuing to declutter anything in life that does not serve me and no longer has worth in my life/heart.
I will be continuing to save whatever I can to put back into decorating the house (Living room needs gutting). I will be glad to see the back of 2016 which has been horrendeous. I have a feeling that 2017 will be the making of me.Jan 2015 GC £267/£260
