Chrissy- that sounds like something I would do! Ouch for the gout x

GTQ- I would stick with slower and more consistent, slowly slowly catchee monkey as they say. 2lb a week is really good going x

Free- has your quilt cover arrived yet? I bet its lovely x

Vulpix- your DS certainly has the wanderlust doesn't he? Just an idea but if the candles you bought are the white church variety you could personalise them with perhaps their initials? (using tissue paper, printer and a heat gun- but you probably know that already).

Forgot to say- DD bought me some rose hip infusion tea bags from Holland and Barrat the other day- and they are flipping horrible! If anyone is considering buying them as gifts for hampers (I think she said £3.67) then don't! They don't taste of anything let alone rose hips!

Think I will take on the challenge! I have nothing to lose, pardon the pun, if I only lose my target. However, if I succeed, while reaching the 2st would be important, it would also give me a 2lb buffer which would mean more to me. It would be a little bit of security if I maintained a week, as I did a couple of weeks ago, mentally, I am still achieving my goal of 2lb per week.

Princesskitty belated congrats he is gorgeous

GTQ 2lb a week is a maintainable loss but the odd short term challenge to lose more won't hurt so go for it a little competition can be a good thing to get you motivated. I'm really hit & miss with it lately struggling to stay motivated but I know it works when I'm on plan as lost about 16lb so far.
Eww for the almost dead squatter gross I can't seem to get rid of ours either so I might have to resort to poison been reluctant to as got the puppy but nothing else seems to be working  they've even chewed a hole through the bottom of a plug socket

Freespirit hope the tooth settles soon taz has 2 wobbly teeth at the moment and has been in loads of pain with them so you have my sympathies

Aldi had some emoji themed items in the lastest offers picked up some Poo expanding flannels for the boys xmas stockings which they will think are hilarious

New argos book is out tomorrow so will have a look at that to see whats new for xmas and get an idea of what taz might like. Hopefully they will do the summer 3 for 2 on toys offer again

Nectar have the summer offer for vue cinema/pizza express on again so taking the kids to see cars 3 tomorrow

    tc all

    Hi All

Sorry i've been AWOL - RL has been keeping me occupied - I'm still trying to catch up with the thread so please bear with me.

Not much has happened on the Christmas front since my last post but i have started looking for some gift boxes for woodwick candles I got in the sales for gifts. Unforuntaly i can't find any boxes that aren't hideously expensive, or don't come in bulk packs (I need 5...not 50 lol)

However I did have a look on Ali Express this evening (never used the site before) and found these bags - I have some packing peanuts I was going to use in the gift boxes to stop the candles moving but I wondered if these bags might work instead - and give something perhaps a little useful (like a small veg bag, travel bag etc) with the candle as a gift.

I was looking for a box to fit about 15cm diameter x 17cm high, the middle bag is 19cm x 24cm so should be big enough to add some packing peanuts in? The large one is 25cm x 32cm - think that might be a little large. Any thoughts guys?

Kerry GT,lovely candles, jut looked them up.How about making a box. There are instructions on pinterest. i used to make them at school with the children to put gifts in they had made to take home.We made them from christmas cards but you could buy card which was not too thick from the range etc.Practise on newspaper till you work out the right size.BTW I LOVE the fabric of those bags.

Slimmers,I wish I had your resolve,I accidentally ate a load of ice cream last night!

Murie,no I don't know how to put pics on candles,I will look into that,TY.

The boy has wanderlust alright,he is umming and ahhing about RAF as he would have to sign up for 12 years to do what he wants to do.I have always encouraged my kids to travel.I did it until I had them and had to settle down a bit.I left home at 16 and only came back to the area when I was 32.

They are ranch sitting in Edmonton at the mo.They met the owners in Alaska. How cool is that.Free use of cars, horses and kayaks in return for feeding the hens and doing a bit of grass cutting with a ride on mower! The owner is some sort of geological engineer.

I got a dressingtable stool off fb yesterday for free.It was beech with a very pale peach material seat. The legs are already painted;),I will look for some material in charity shops today.I am thinking tartan/tweed in my minds eye.But something completely different might take my eye. If the kids dont want it,I will sell it on.

I undercoated the window and the bath panel yesterday.Had enough by then so packed it in.

Free,I forgot to take my specs to craft club!!!!!!!!!! so just chatted and drank tea. I did some of the Christmas tree skirt last night, another hour and it will be finished.

Chrissy I do that sort of thing much too often.Worst recently was turning up a day late for an appointment.

Off to take Mr V's wedding ring to the jeweller. The stone fell out.He put his hand in his pocket the next day and there was the stone:)

    Vx

Vulpix that's a good idea about making the gift boxes, I am actually quite arty (or used to be) but these days time is a major issue, I have one free evening a week and weekends seem to always have something planned even when expected not to. I'm a total perfectionist so the boxes would need to be good, but you're right, they shouldn't be too hard to make. I'll have a look at kraft board prices, the bags were less than £2 each so it might work out cheaper for those....I'm now torn as I wanted to get some little stampers and nice ribbon for the boxes.

Sounds like DS and his GF are having an amazing time.

maurie I saw your party photos, wow! They are amazing! I'm lost for words.

Right, off to look at kraft prices....

    Morning everyone.

FREE the great kitchen move is getting closer - first fix electrics next weekend, then plumbing on the Mon and Tues then we move the units and then the electrician and plumber come back to fit the appliances. Getting exciting now and I'm really looking forward to doing the existing kitchen as my little craft room/office/DGD's bedroom.

CHRISSY I did the same in reverse with the hairdresser last time I went, I turned up exactly a week late oops. At least you didn't get soaked lol. Good for you getting the earrings, a little treat is good for the spirit. Sorry to hear about the gout, hope it doesn't trouble you very often.

Wow VULPIX, your life sounds so much more exciting than mine. I've never really been anywhere or done anything. Left home at 21 to get married and still only been to Spain (once) France (day trip) Rhodes (twice to stay with late best friend) and St Lucia (once for late best friend's wedding). Can't see us going anywhere now so good old GB it is. Ooh, just remembered I've been to Ireland and Jersey too, I'm such a globetrotter. Definitely envy your DS his adventurous spirit.

GTQ good luck with the challenge!

MANDCO my two little GDSs are seeing Cars 3 tomorrow, the youngest is really excited because the new car is Jackson Storm and he's called Jackson.

KERRI I agree with VULPIX those bags are really nice. Makes me want to find uses for them but I must be strong.

Nothing festive planned for today but if the rain holds off I'll be putting the weed membrane down in the garden.

Happy Saturday one and all. :D
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :
