  • Hello everyone :)

Been reading along since Boxing Day. Thought it was time I joined in.
Christmas is the most amazing time of the year, and I do enjoy preparing for it all year. My youngest daughter, 5yrs, is as crazy about it as I am :p
Feel like I'm making good progress so far, keep picking up gifts as I find them. The top of my wardrobe is filling up nicely.
This weekend has been soo cold and we did get a little snow, so has brought the Christmas feeling back to our house. We watched Home Alone last night and I watched a Kirsty Allsop Christmas craft show I had recorded. She gave a recipe for that lovely B@1leys. Have put a note in my diary to make some nearer the time as it can only be kept for 2 weeks. Thought it would make a nice gift.
Will keep reading and hopefully start posting more regularly.

Ohhh, are you able to share the recipe? Making our own would save a foturne.

No more Xmas prep here, cold and snowy (though nothing settling) here this weekend, I don't mind as a team least it's what I call proper weather, not some grey drizzly not sure what it wants to do weather we often get at this time of year. Looking forward to it warming up a bit though.

  • Evening everyone, its been cold here again too and snow flurries, a light covering settled through the night but none has today. Can i ask everyones opinion on here about my energy provider, i did :money:group collective last year and it ends this month but he cant get another one, there are energy suppliers who are new and not really any background or BG who i am with offering a fixed 2 year or a standard contract both exactly the same price (which means another £38 extra a month) now do i fix for two years and miss out if :money: does get another collective or do i hold my ground go with the standard and risk the price rises, or do i risk one of the small suppliers??? I am at a loss i already pay £109 a month for gas and electric and cant really afford to pay more, i just dont know what to do i think i was depending on another collective.

PEPPAPIG thankyou my lovely i feel much better now. I hope you have a fab half term with DGD and good luck on the house selling :)

Free my one piece of advise would be steer well clear of Extra Energy. I read reviews, switched to them thinking 'oh I'm sure it will be fine' and am still pending my final bill from last May...umpteen phone calls, and they still can't tell me why they can't give me the bill.

Happy to share, hope it works out ok, not tried it myself as yet!

1 teaspoon of coffee, 1/2 teaspoon of cocoa into a bowl, add a smidgen of single cream (just enough to dissolve the coffee & cocoa) and whisk until dissolved.

Add the rest of the single cream (use pots of about 284ml-300ml)

    Add 250ml of whisky

Couple of drops of vanilla extract

    Grated nutmeg

    Whisk

Add a tin of condensed milk (about 390-400g tin)
Quick mix again and try
Could always adjust to taste, I was thinking could add coffee syrups (mint, hazelnut, orange) it should keep fresh in the fridge for 2 weeks.

    Hope it's ok.

FREE I'm on the collective switch that ends in October but am just switching my mum to Scottish Power which was the cheapest of the bigger providers. Their customer service isn't rated well but then neither is nPower who she's with at present. I was disappointed that when I used the comparison on the MSE energy club the one I'm switching her to didn't come up until I filtered by big providers only. I didn't dare risk an unknown provider as this us the first time she's allowed us to switch her so I can't take any risks or I'll never hear the end of it lol. Sainsbury's (really BG) have a fairly decent fix to next Feb too and that didn't come up either. Maybe go for a fix that's the same or cheaper than now but with small exit penalties then you can change if you need to.

I've been with Sainsbury's before and their customer service was pretty good, only left because I got a cheaper deal elsewhere.

Leanne0121 thanks for the recipe, I'll give that a whirl nearer Xmas. I did make my SIL vegan Baileys this Xmas and must admit it was quite nice upon tasting, it was made with coconut milk which I find a little sickly at times but that was tempered by the whisky and coffee.
