Oh SPENDLESS you do sound down. I know how you feel but you'll feel much better if you get the decs up, or at least the tree. Anything you don't get for DH isn't the end of the world, he'll just have to understand. Make the most of him being away, if you grab some cards today you could write them tonight and post on Monday. If you've got a printer I think you can do your postage on line to save going to the post office (although I may be wrong). I don't blame you for not wanting to go shopping, I'm avoiding weekend visits to such places too! Ditto for the pub crawl although I must admit I wouldn't find that fun at any time. Hope you cross some bits off your list today and can enjoy the rest of the week. At least you've learned lessons for next year - I'm making a list of things to do or not to do next time :D

    Good morning from snowy Derbyshire.

Thank goodness I am organised on the Christmas front, life has been manic.

Spendless I would also hate to go to a shopping mall this close to Christmas or go on a pubcrawl. As Peppa advises stay home ,keep warm and cultivate some hygge with a bit of hirreth thrown in for good measure.xx

Coxy ,i know what you mean about the presents get smaller as the kids get older.DD2 looks like she is having very little but things like a gold locket cost a lot and are tiny packages. The tables have turned now the older ones are adults, they have got bottles of vodka and bigger stuff for the house this year.

I am sure you are having a Merry Christmas Mrs I,enjoy.

Belated birthday greetings to the birthday girls, hope you had a nice day.

There must be much more to comment on forgive me if i have missed something important.

Thank you for the photo tutorial,I WILL have a go next week when I have more time.I am technologically challenged so it will be a struggle.

Your Christmas house is looking lovely Peppa.

I have not been sleeping for nearly a week surviving on about 3 hours a night.Last night 12 hours.Much needed as today is the big party day.If you all set off now you will be here just in time. I do NOT want a party for my 60th.Because i would have to organise it. I want a cruise instead!

So at the moment I am home alone.DS gone to Harrogate to collect GF,DD1 works at a youth club for autistic teenagers on a Saturday,DD2 gone to work in the cafe where they are doing Polar Express afternoon teas.AND MR V has volunteered to work 7 till 12 as his colleague's Mum has broken her hip.He will swan in briefly to get changed and go to some more work and will be home @8pm. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!***********It is also snowing which makes travel round here very difficult.

And breathe! I am not stressed.I have 3 deserts to make and put up Christmas lights in the garden, clear the paths of snow, bath, get ready. Not much really.

I am just having a moment of calm.Thank goodness I had some sleep.

We went to Chester the other day.It was lovely.just enough people to give atmosphere without it being unpleasantly crowded.

So glad you have found your Christmas mojo Free. Are you back from your travels Murie?

See you at the party, wrap up warm as its a bbq in the garden.Vx

  • Hugs to all who are feeling overwhelmed with what they still have to do.

Realised this morning I don't remember putting one of my Dad's presents into the bag for their house so need to find that

Think we will call on a couple of other half's distant family today to drop cards off. Glad everything is pretty much done now as work tomorrow, off Monday then in every day until close on Christmas eve. Will have to get other half to do some present drop runs whilst I am work I think.

Hope everyone has a lovely Saturday. Vulpix sure the party will go great
    Have fun!

  • Morning lovelies. Today I’m getting a new cooker installed, it’s put everything on hold really but it’s the last of the deliveries this year so I’m hoping today I can start getting into the festive spirit. Tree is up with only a few decs on it, not bothered putting decorations anywhere else this year although that might change.
Yesterday the rotary club came up and collected a lot of the previous owners furniture so it’s nice that we can move a tad here now although I still have a bedroom stacked with boxes.
Couple of nights ago Teddy got her comeuppance after her previous love of trying to bring seagulls in to play with. Here we have an owl that seems to delight in winding her up. It does not flinch when Ted barks and seems to be egging her on. I think they’ll eventually be friends

    Im back!
I have just typed out a long post and then hot the bloomin back space key by mistake and its all gone-grrrr!

3 for the holidays Happy Belated Birthday- hope you had a fabulous time!

Coxy- Im the same about balancing presents out so if you are odd then so am I xx

Spendless- I hope you have a bit of your Christmas spirit back by now x
Free- Great that your Christmas mojo is back, bum that you are in pain still x
GTQ- wow that's great that you managed to lose in such a difficult week with all those meals out x Your charity gifts sound just the ticket. You really are a lovely, kind and thoughtful lady x
Peppa- those stalls look very authentic, there lovely.
Stokie- I hope you found your dads present, I like to bag my deliveries up too, but then I get annoyed cus they are in the way! (I'm very contrary like that lol)
GYD- hope the oven is in and you have been able to cook up a storm! Seems Teddy has met her match lol, Great that you are settling in more each day- it should be easier now that you have a little more space now some of the previous owners stuff has gone.

Mrs I- I hope you are having a truly fabulous time with the Chinese contingent xx

Vulpix- I hope your sleep pattern manages to get back on track soon. I bet the party was a roaring success, I can just imagine an outdoor party in the snow with the lights twinkling in the trees- magical! (Start dropping heavy hints now about the cruise lol).

Prague was lovely, very Christmassy. DD and I each bought a large hand painted glass bauble as that's what we said we were going to do, and amazingly they stayed in one piece on the way home. Each year that will be our' memory' when we put the tree up. I have done all the washing etc from our hols plus the stuff DH and Ds didn't attempt to wash while we were away, so now I only have to try to get some order back into the house and cut my way though the inches of dust that have accumulated everywhere! This time next week will be Christmas Eve........!!

VULPIX hope the party was fabulous and you aren't feeling any ill effects today ;) The cruise is a great idea and MURIE's right, it's never too soon to start hinting.

Good to have you back MURIE.

GYD hope the new cooker arrived safe and sound and is all ready for its first Sunday dinner. It must feel much more like home now you've got rid of some of the old boy's stuff, your first Christmas will be lovely.

Can't believe how quiet it is on here, we're usually racing through the pages at this stage, must be how organised we all are or is it that we're all too busy doing last minute stuff :D

Can't believe there's only a week to go.

I have just read this on this forum and it has stopped me in my tracks.
This, for me, is the true meaning of Christmas. As a family we always try to give to a charity at this time of year, but this has made me realise that charity really does begin 'closer to home'.

Hello everyone. I have been reading along just never got round to posting anything!

All presents from me now bought - but I am not very far on with wrapping. Finding the inclination/energy is somewhat hard at the moment. Don't know why, I'm usually finished by now.

Tree went up on friday. And I put my christmas village out yesterday. :T Front room looks lovely and twinkly with all the lights. :D

Mum is really enjoying her advent calendar. She opens each day's present and then 'feels up' (my description not hers) the next one. :rotfl: It was a lot of work making it but it has definitely been worth it for her reaction each day. :)

We're soooo close now! Hope everyone finds time to enjoy the build up. :xmastree:
