Brrrrr minus something and everywhere is like an ice rink ... Not good for my anxiety and getting to work :rotfl:

Please stay safe anyone else who has ice and has to go out. Other half had Friday and yesterday off but today is the worst of the three days and they have opened the school he works in.

Set to rain later this evening I think so hopefully the end of the ice is almost here

Just to add to all the ideas to get rid of a bad chest -the old fashioned bowl of hot water with eucalyptus oil or vic in it -towel over face and head and inhale the steam -usually works for me !

    Morning!

    Peppa, your trees look awesome!

Glad you have found your festive mojo Free, I have been partaking of a few christmas movies while no-one else is home :D I have the same probelm when it comes to pain, I have M.E and can never tell when pain is from hurting myself, an illness or just my stupid body! I have been coughing and sneezing for days but feel no different to any other day. DH woke up with the same pain the next day so i'm wondering if mine is a virus now  I was bad yesterday and the day before but it seems to be easing off this morning.

Soooo, woke up yesterday to DH swearing like a trooper, go to find out whats wrong and he's tipped eldests mattress upside down and it had gone mouldy! we realised that, though fine for a 9 year old girl, a fully enclosed, solid wooden bed with memory foam mattress is no good for a sweaty teen, so yesterday was spent running round the local towns trying to find ANYONE who had a single bed and mattress we could have immediately. Each shop 'well we're shutting for christmas love, middle of january for a bed . . ' i'm thinking, 'it's the 11th December! christmas is 2 weeks away! why are all the factories shutting 2 weeks early??'

Well after much stomping round, getting cold, muttering about rubbish shops and the downside of online we finally found a mattress we could take same day in an independent bed store and good old Arg0s are delivering me a frame today :D (and the lovely lady at the till even popped me a discount code in that saved me £36 :j :j ) Soooo not the most festive day but hopefully DS will now be sleeping in a much more hygenic situation! So a word of warning to anyone who has a boy and (like me) came from a family of girls . . boys sweat, and they smell when they are teens! make sure you have a bed frame and mattress that allow air through!!

In a more christmassy note, once back home and thawed I managed to wrap 4! yes a whole 4! christmas presents :D ok, thats only because 3 of them need to be posted, but its a start :rotfl:

Coming to the end of a ten day break from work, and I have decorated the living room, hall and dining room (with the help of my son), got some presents wrapped, posted cards, planned meals and sorted final arrangements, and visited parents who live 200 miles away. Dad cooked us a splendid turkey dinner, and our dog (we wouldn’t leave her behind for the whole day) also enjoyed a plate of turkey and veggies. I am meeting my daughter on Saturday to swap prezzies, I have my workmate’s prezzy ready to take into work next week, and I know what jobs need doing on my days off between now and Christmas. Still some little prezzies to get but I am not stressed at all. Everything is coming together nicely. We are hosting a Solstice meal on the 22nd, I am at work the 23rd, then off for four days in a row. On Christmas Eve I will designate midday as Sod It point - if I haven’t got it or done it by then, Sod It! My Christmas begins then.

Do we really want posts for 'adult' stuff from people who don't even post on the thread? I've reported both posts as spam, I like a laugh as much as the next person but I just don't think this stuff belongs on our Christmas thread.

JAKESMUM glad you got the bed sorted, you'd think shops would be falling over themselves to sell stuff this close to Christmas.

Yay NARGLEBLAST well done. I think I'll have mid-day on Christmas Eve as my cut off too.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

I had reported it too, I have an inherent distrust of any newbie who's first post is 'check out this awesome site'. Screams spam or self promotion to me :o

I was amazed at how hard it was to get a bed, I said to the bloke at benst0ns 'how often do people wake up and go . . oh I know i'll order a bed today, I reacon mine will be ready for replacing in 4 to 6 weeks!, normally you buy a bed cos your old one is knackered'. But tis the payoff for having everything online now :( no real shops stock big items anymore :(

  • I had reported the adult content posts too. Probably same poster under different names. Glad it has vanished.

Work was very slow today...glad to be home. Day off tomorrow. Waiting for my mum to let me know if we are still meeting tomorrow. She had quite bad snow but ours has gone pretty much. She will probably delay until Friday but fine with me as got things I need to do either way.

Hope everyone is ok. Can't believe we are so close now. The year seems to have flown by.

  • Evening everyone, ooh my second favourite thing to do at Christmas time is buy the Christmas TV Guide and circle all what I want to watch so I was chuffed to buy it today, I usually sit with a coffee and mince pie while doing it :D haha I am easily pleased. I put my Christmas duvet cover on last night and wore my Christmas pjs too.

STOKIEBECKS yes my DD1 said the roads were pretty bad this morning driving to work

PEPPAPIG glad you reported the posts if they weren't appropriate

JAKESMUM yes I am exactly the same with my fibro and colitis, is it a flare up or have I done something its really annoying not knowing what is causing what. My DS noticed a load of mould on the wall by his headboard this morning too, the condensation is just running down his walls, I don't understand why when we have triple glazed windows?? I'm glad you got DS bed and mattress sorted out in the end

NARGLEBLAST that sounds very organised :)

Had a lovely card today through the post. Thank you free it is beautiful.

Been to my nans with my mum and put the little tree up as we will do one last Christmas at her bungalow before mum considers what to do with it next year. Also scattered some of nans ashes on her parents grave and put a little potted Christmas plant on.

How is everyone today? Most of the snow has gone so everywhere is a little bit safer thankfully.
