Good Morning all,
Today will be a day of watching Christmas films, doing a bit of wrapping and basically hiding upstairs whilst the workmen are here plastering. DH is off so he will deal with them and keep me fed and watered. Increased the painkillers again as things are not as good as originally thought. Ah well, Im going to watch every cheesy Christmas film I can find and wrap a few gifts. I just want to see what I have left to buy. Hopefully not much.
Hope everybody is ok xxx
Big hugs and Christmas Sprinkles to everyone xx0 -
I finally have almost all of our decorations up but I feel really disorganised on the present side of things. I do have things already & am waiting for some orders to arrive, but I feel like this time last year I had already bought lots of things so even if I'd stopped there & then it would have been fine, but this year I feel like I'm missing things, forgetting what I've got & who I still need to buy for etc
I had planned to get home from work last night & get everything out, so I could check it all, but my DD1 was at home because her plans for the evening changed, so I couldn't do that because she would have seen it all going on. I don't really know when I will get chance to do it but I am going to have to try & do it soon, because we're running out of time!!

Hi all,
GYD, wow! that's such a shame about your china! Are you covered for breakages in any way with the moving company or your home insurance?
I've done the deep clean of the lounge ready for the tree to go up, and my god was it needed! I can't believe I let it get that bad in the first place. I'll put the tree up and lights on it on Friday, and then will decorate it with my stepson on Saturday. Not sure if he will be to old to want to decorate with me...we shall see!
And I've started work on a tree skirt (nothing like leaving it to the last minute!) so I'm sticking with the plan suggested by someone on here (sorry, I've forgotten who) to tie tins to the tree base and cover it with a tree skirt, to hopefully prevent the cats having the tree over at any point. And as a bonus it will make some space in the cupboard temporarily, it's currently very full with Christmas biscuits. I bought one packet and then OH bought to others!
It's been great reading all your updates, I get reminded of little things I have to do0 -
i'VE DONE IT! I have the tree up and all my musical scenes are out (minus the plugs as the music drives DH mad and DD does love to set them all going at once :rotfl:) Currently sat squinting at the laptop screen by fairy lights as its dark as a black hole in the livingroom but I don't want to turn on the light and ruin the lovely christmassy feel from the tree
Still to get everything out and do the present check, I have a spreadsheet but I always find a couple of bits extra that haven't been logged and I have no idea who they were for :rotfl:
Ahh had a great day with the Uncle thank you Stockie, when he's in the right mood he can be fabulous to be with. Re the lego set, well I got it completely wrong and its not the fire station its the airport she wantsstill £69 though! problem is I can't remember which sets ive already bought :rotfl: but we did go through the lego website just to make sure it was the one she wanted and she was quite happy with pretty much any set that had a plane in it so if I have a plane one i'll leave it as is, if not, i'll look at it again.
Food shopping tomorrow so need to remember to get some tree chocolates! Tree does not look finished without them though DS will no doubt have robbed them all well before the 25th! last year I had to hide a second pack just so the rest of us got some! :eek:SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £225/£10000 -
Well work playing silly beggars already. Cutting overtime in run up of Christmas
So have the bonus of an extra day off next week now so feel a bit better about getting everything done.
Have had a really rubbish day though.
Hope everyone is ok£2 Savers Club for 2022 #120 -
I've finally (almost) finished my Christmas shopping! The only thing I've got left to buy is one of the easiest presents to buy. I would have brought it yesterday but my bag was already pretty full. Now I can relax, getting the tree tomorrow, and enjoy a good wrapping session on Sunday.0

I'm still unwell. My chest feels so tight. So hrd to sleep at night. I have a doctors appointment for Wed, but only because my boss made me phone as I sounded so awful. I woild prefer to let it clear itself, I don't like antibiotics if that's what I'm given. I always feel horrible after taking them. Any tips for clearing a horrible chesty/mucas cough would be great. Ive tried hotter than hell showers, covonia, potters pastilles (yuck) , sleeping upright, loads of water and hot tea.
I'm not sure if I'm getting better at all. Feeling shattered on top just makes everything feel worse. All my muscles and my head is aching from coughing.
Woe is me :,-(:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Oh Dear Nic,that sounds dreadful.I sent Mr V to the GP again after having a cough and bad chest for months. He was prescribed antibiotics and is now on the mend.I hope you are all better by Christmas.xx
GYD Yikes, what a shame about your china.Hope you are sorted with nice new stuff by now.
Mandco, well done on the new job, hope it went well.
It is ages since I have been on,I have read back a bit but excuse me if I have missed something I should have remarked on.
Thank You for my lovely Christmas Card:)It came yesterday whilst I had the craft coven round for lunch...which lasted 4 hours!
I have been so very busy, going out mostly which is great. I went to Chatsworth market and house with my friend who works there. It was just lovely with a Dickensian Christmas theme. She says they are planning next year already,Alice in Wonderland.
I took my Mum and my friend and her Mum out for a Christmas dinner.First turkey dinner of the year.:)
It was the coffee morning with the Sally Army band on Wednesday.Don't know how much was raised yet.All my festive sprouts sold out in minutes.
I have been to the theatre and loads of other trips out so have had every excuse not to clean the house!I have now done everywhere but the kitchen. Will try to get some decs out of the loft today. My daughter is having a day off work on Monday to help me put them up.
Next week I am off to Chester with my friends from the village.I will be driving the new car! The driving is ok ,its the parking I don't like. It's a new lexus and it's massive:( The old one was a bit smaller.
Yikes it's Mr V's party in a week! I am so glad I am organised on the present front and only a little bit of wrapping left to do.
I cant remember who lost their book of lists ! My life would grind to a halt without lists. Hope you have found it now.
love to all Vx:0 -
Nic - hope you are feeling better soon. There is so much going around, everybody in work has been ill with one thing or another & it seems as soon as one of us recovers, someone else catches something.
GYD - that's not good news about your chinaWould your home insurance cover it? I suppose it's trying to work out if it's worth having the claim on your insurance history.
Vulpix - you sound very organised. I haven't done any wrapping yet, despite me saying I was going to try & do the wrapping as I bought things! I am going to get some done tomorrow though because I have my works christmas party tomorrow night, so just want to have a relaxing day in the warm & get into a proper festive mood.
Creative gal - you have done well getting all the shopping done. I am still panicking that I haven't got everything. I need to get everything out to have a proper look at it all, I think I will find things that I forgot I had bought.
Jakes-mum - I am the same, as soon as the christmas lights are out I don't like to have any other lights on. I try not to give in but sometimes have to give in & put the light on if I'm trying to read something for work or help with homework.
Snorkypants - you have reminded me I need to order a tree skirt. Unfortunately I'm not very crafty so wouldn't even bother trying to make one
0462 - Your day sounds exactly like what I'm planning for myself tomorrow all day, until I have to get ready for my night out. I am looking forward to getting some wrapped presents under the tree & have some christmas movies playing.
I am planning to get the tree up in my conservatory this evening, that will be all the decorating done then.0 -
Afternoon everyone, oh NIC I feel the same woe is me :rotfl: my back has gone again and it is painful right down my left knee, I cant walk round the house without a walking stick let alone go out. I have no Christmas spirit at the moment, even looking at the Christmas tree lights doesn't stir up any christmassyness. I have finished just need to get the fresh stuff so there is no stressing on that front, I haven't even watched a Christmas film this year yet!!
