Thanks for the welcome newthrift. I love a good list / spreadsheet and maintain one each year for our xmas lunch requirements and gifts - a tab per year so I can reference back and overall this year I was on track but I just constantly seemed to be planning for xmas. I also had quite a few HM xmas gifts to make which were food related (incl one requested but I hadn't planned to make) so couldn't make those far in advance which meant xmas gifting seemed to go on and on.
I'm sadly quite happy I've already got some lines in green for gifts I've already boughtFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Thanks for all of your support, had sort of good news in that they couldn't find anything untoward, however they want to do a more in depth/invasive biopsy. While not fully the news I wanted, it could have been much worse. Mind you, I did feel quite sorry for the solitary male there, it must have been difficult for him.A smile costs little but creates much0

Glad you're results didn't show anything horrible GTQ. Just need to keep the positivity going now for the next step. I'll def be sending positive vibes in your direction.
Welcome to the thread KERRI, very impressed that you've got green on your spreadsheet already. I don't normally start in earnest until about half way through the year but I know what you mean about not being able to think about anything else.
Nice to see you posting again PRINCESSKITTY but sorry to hear you're still suffering. Hope things ease off for you soon and pleased you were able to enjoy at least some of Christmas.
MRSINVISIBLE your poor DD, seems like quite a few of us haven't started the new year quite how we would have liked!
DH is settled back at home and getting used to his new 'friend' lol. Thank you all for your kind comments, they were much appreciated. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -
Hello my lovelies xx
Major New Years resolution is to keep up with this lovely thread more!
Christmas Day was lovely had dinner at the place I work (after our shift finished) got spoilt by bbf and her family. Went home hoping day for a chilled day with my mum.
Peppa hope dh is doing better xx
New thrift I only got a couple of rolls in the sales as I'm sure I have tons of wrapping paper in loft at home. I did get some nice Xmas tags in the sales though.
It was my first Xmas officially moved out of home. Bless my landlord and lady at the house I lodge in they brought me a big Galaxy selection pack , a giant alien from toy story (I LOVE toy story more than I can describe) toy story pyjamas and a Disney shop buzz light year mug. I thought that was really kind of them as I am only a lodger and only been here 6 months.
Health wise - my sue ones secretary called this morning and said my surgeon wants me in for more surgery (day after tomorrow he wanted me) I have said I need it re arranged with more notice due to work and anther appointments and although it's more brain surgery its for tests so it's not a MUST do op. bit gutted that not even a week into a new year I'm told I need more surgery 😭 but onwards and upwards xxx
My love and hugs to all xxNanMias - cyber granddaughter!

Lovely to see you back JJ and so glad living away from home is working out so well for you. Sorry to hear about the upcoming surgery but still completely admire the way you deal with it all. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0

JJ, you freak me out at posting on a day that you cross my mind:eek: This is not the first time you have done it:D However, good to hear from you and that things are looking up for you, even if you have had the bummer news for the start of the year. On the other hand, they may decide all is well, leaving you with all of the carp finished at the beginning of the year, leaving you free to enjoy the rest.
Looking for suggestions please. My best friend will be having a significant birthday this year & I have no idea what to get, further complicated by the fact that he is male & married. No problems with his wife, but want to get something special, for him, but without putting him in a position which makes him feel uncomfortable. Not a lot to ask!A smile costs little but creates much0 -

GTQ what's your budget? Would it stretch to one of the experiences from someone like BuyaGift? I bought DH a flying lesson once and for his 50th I bought a riding lesson from a local stable and we went horse riding because he loves horses but had never been. Obviously both before his health deteriorated lol. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0

Helllllooooo Christmas campers - I'm back!
I'm afraid I fell off (got on?) the mince pie wagon a couple of years back but this year I'm signing back up to the thread with festive fervour!
I lost my lovely mum in 2015 (early onset dementia for those who remember, she fought her way to 68 after diagnosis in her mid-50s) and since my years of care responsibilities for her and my late dad are over, I've subsequently thrown my life up in the air (in the way only grief can prompt!) and taken a very odd job and moved back to Scotland where I grew up. It was a very rocky 2015/16 but I'm pleased to say I've just had a very nice Christmas with my hubby in the lovely house we're renting and while work is really a bit crazy, it's keeping me on my toes and keeping me in pennies for Christmas frippery, which this year reached the majestic mayhem of five Christmas trees and a whole stairwell fripped to flip!
I've read back as much as I can and my heart has swelled for the happy news (Feisty -YAY, your posts about the little one have made me so happy!) and it's also broken for all of your losses. I am pleased to see that those of you fighting battles are doing so with two fingers rightly stuck up at anything that thinks its got you beat. There should probably be a research study in to the tenacity of Christmas nutters as we seem to battle bold and brave!
I have failed the first Christmas mission of the year and not bought cards or wrap in the sales, eek! I actually visited a massive Tesco near me on the 20th looking for a last minute gift bag and found their entire Christmas section gone! I was told they'd sold out and had nothing more in the way of cards or wrap. On 27th, I stopped at a Sainsbury's local and they had mini eggs out! I could have cried. (/started planning what I was going to bake this Easter :rotfl: )
I've got two more precious days off before I go back to work on Monday and think we'll venture to the cinema tomorrow. Had a lovely cinema trip/meal just before Christmas, to see Office Christmas Party. It wasn't exactly the most warm and fuzzy Christmas film but there were a few laughs.
Anyway, look forward to spending the next twelve months debating bargains, Bailey's and Brussels sprouts with you all! :beer:0
