  • Well done to those that are closing in on their targets, keep on keeping on and for those that have sufferered illness and injury, it is a setback but as has been said, not the end of the world and the challenge has got you moving in the right direction :T

I have hit my revised target of 3000 miles walking and along with that I have also reached a target weight that I set for myself last year and those two things combined have resulted in me being able to stop injecting insulin for my diabetes.

After this week I will be slowing down for a couple of weeks while I have eye surgery on the 7 & 8th of December but I still hope to be back up to speed (and distance) by the end of the year and ready for whatever challenge I set myself for next year, could 4000 miles be possible? :)
  • Wow Wizard!!! Im so impressed with the fact you have lost enough weight to give up the diabetes injections

A huge well done to you. :T:T

I think everyone who has diabetes due to weight issues should take up walking. Why would you not want to be off medication?

Fantastic news Wiz! Cracked 3000 miles and come off the injections. I see no reason why you couldn't do 4000, whats that, 11 ish miles a day? On the other hand it's easy to become obsessive about these things, only you know your personality!

It has only been a month since I stopped the injections but my sugar levels have not been so consistant for a long time.
It does help that I can be more aggressive with my diet now that I no longer have to worry about having a 'Hypo' (low sugar event)

All credit for the miles has to go to my dog, he would happily walk all day if I could keep up with him but I do enjoy the walking rather than just ticking off the miles.
Thinking about it this morning while walking, I probably will go for the 4000, it is nice to have a number to aim at and it will give me the insentive to keep up with keeping my records up to date.

I'd like to get up to 3000 ,but I know I just don't have the time.

    Yet!

Just looked, it's 10.95 miles a day to do 4000, probably only about 1.5 miles more than you are doing now.:T

48.1miles for me this week. Most of those were a 25 mile race through snow and mud with over 2000 feet of ascent!

Anyway, its brought me up to touching distance of 1,984.7 miles for the year. Should manage to run 16 miles next week to reach my target.

    This weeks numbers are:

    18.88 km (roughly 12 miles)

Had company meetings, tummy ache and a neighbours funeral so pre-occupied this week.

My diet has been poor this week too (trifle, cakes, chocolate, crisps and fizzy pop all being consumed).

    Hayho I'm only human

    Keep moving :j
    This weeks numbers are

    13.82 KM (roughly 8.5 miles)

Very poor effort by me :(
