Finally, snuck into the 1900s....thought I'd be here last week:(

6.05 miles per day now to hit my target.
  • I was thinking about next years challenge and wondering what to call it so that it doesn't tie anyone to a particular distance.

    Any suggestions.

I was thinking about next years challenge and wondering what to call it so that it doesn't tie anyone to a particular distance.

Are you thinking of a make distance irrelevant, or thinking more of a pick a goal mileage that suits you, thread?

Just reflecting on other forums that I have been on/am on.

I started out in 2007 with fitbug ( celebrated ten years of having a pedometer in my pocket in October:j) and that was very focussed on increasing your steps and achieving a target every month. On the forum, we used to split ourselves into teams and do virtual walks. It was interactive, so the steps were downloaded and the site brought the totals up so there was no cheating. It ended up not working when someone came along that did 35-40,000 steps a day, !!!!!!. She was slightly obsessed!

Another forum, I run the steppers, which is so unserious:o. We started out about five years ago by collating our mileages and plotting a route through England and into Europe. Over the years it has become more travelogue - this year has seen us places as diverse as Iran, Israel, Yemen, Argentina, Portugal. I really enjoy researching the places we go to, I doubt I'll get there in real life. That's not so much a challenge as a small group bonding experience:rotfl:

Neither of those would work here I don't think, but it might trigger some thoughts.

Yes, just a general thread to help encourage folk to keep moving whether it be walking, cycling or running and allow them to set their own targets, if at all.
I just can't think what the title should say :o

I know that for myself the target will be set at 4000 miles but I do have all the time on my side and a good walking mate that will keep me going. Others will see this as out of reach because of work and family commitments but they could still join in with the thread in their own way and perhaps get or give tips.
