I'm probably guilty of not posting much but I do update my signature every week and I also post my monthly totals.
As Bugslet said before, when you have a dog, you can't help but walk every day. I probably take that to the limit by walking about 9 miles a day but we both enjoy it, even in the heat and the rain to a certain extent.0 -
Well... I have a bit of a disastrous last week....5.13 miles!!!
Thankfully I have the buffer to absorb such a hit. Total 1196.23 - still +80.85 ahead of weekly average.
I could blame work, tiredness, the heat, the wet, or my feet.... but in reality last week I completely dropped the ball and had 0 interest in picking it back up other than a single token effort. This task sounds easy on paper, but in reality, walking almost daily for 12 months is quite a task. I have noticed this thread seems to have got a little quiet as well!
So I decided to have a rest from walking for 9 days! Something I should have done when I was on hol in May really. Looking back at last years tracking however, I did exactly the same but I didn't pick it back up as I had no target.
That and my walking pattern with planned rest days (+/-1 day to account for weather) that I had build early in the year went out of the Windows and I didn't really have a proper rest day. Burn out.
This week seems better so far despite lots of manual labour at work. Managed Monday and Tuesday, day off today and will get back on it Thursday and see where I stand on Sat/Sunday to see if I can slink in another rest day.
I could blame the heat here in the ME. However, you are correct that it is difficult to keep motivated. I have plenty of miles in the bank, so I am not concerned about a few days/weeks lost.
I am just over 300 miles from the finish. I can do this with a few good weeks effort! In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
Yep having a dog(s) means consistency is sorted! Splank, please pop donw to Salford and take Lola off my hands - a one year old Giant Schnauzers energy seems to be boundless.
8 seconds long, gives you a flavour, though she has grown now

However, I don't think I could fit in more walking and I'm only just going to make it - I don't have the time, even weekends tend to be bonkers busy and I don't take holidays beyond the long weekend.
I did a tally last night and seemed surprisingly to have caught up more than I thought, fingers crossed for a buffer.0 -
I'm lucky that barring injury the mileage should take care of itself as all of mine is logged through running. (I don't track walking)
As I am currently training for a 35 mile race in August, a marathon in Nov and a 24 mile race in Dec I do a fair number of miles each week.“Time is intended to be spent, not saved” - Alfred Wainwright0 -
After a slow start to the week I managed to stretch my legs a bit more towards the end and managed 65.2 miles taking me past 1800 :T0

54.7 miles done this week ... bringing me up to 1226.3 miles for the year.

1168 miles at the end of July and that makes me 2 miles behind, which I'm pleased about - I had thought July was quite poor and I've gained more ground than I thought.:j
Someone earlier mentioned Merrells - I do swap my shoes around, but the ones I bought before Xmas are going strong, with no sign of undue wear and plenty of tread left on them.0
