Ended the month 20p under the (admittedly increased) food budget. Heading over to the February thread.

  • Completely lost count this month. Not gone crackers with spending but real life just got in the way. Start a fresh in Feb and clear the freezer/cupboards instead of adding to them
Take care all and see u in feb
    Jan 2025 £26561.43/£0. I want to clear £9000 this year (2025)
  • Well as predicted, DD home for the weekend and I've tipped over the budget. Spent £26.50 at SB yesterday and £10.00 ish ( lost receipt) on Friday. Hopefully no spends in the last 3 days. At least is making me aware of where I slip up ( wine and wanting to treat DD when she's home from uni).
Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)
    Grocery challenge November : £291.65/300.00 NSD 10
Grocery challenge December : £0/240.00 NSD
  • well final weekly shop done online at Mr T and spent £75. This brings me in at £349/£400 for the 5 week month so chuffed with that.
Determined to save even more next month if poss. The extra has been sent to the tax man to pay off husbands self employed tax that's due at the end of the month. I send money through the 6 months so when the due date arrives it's already paid.

Elspac, we love tipping point here, best of luck, my granny got to the final auditions on deal or no deal, never made it to the show.

Thank you! Pretty sure I fluffed the "personality" part of it, although I know I got 20 out of the 25 questions right so 80%, same as I got on the phone audition where I got 8 out of 10. If I do get through I'l only hear between now and May anyway as they are shortlisting as they go along, so just going to try and put it to the back of my mind!

I do this too - hence my spends were larger than I would have liked this month - treat-y food for when she was here and some to take back - and some alcopops for her and the bf :)

    Repaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NIL

  • Last shop for January - boring household stuff and we've gone over (by £52.33) as stockpiled dishwasher tablets. Oh well, I fully intend for February to be much better. The extra £52.33 will have to come out of next months budget so we'll put in the £300 but really need to aim for £250 which should be doable because we have a lot of meat in the freezer and now have lots of household stuff. I'm hoping February will be a cheap month!

    Finishing January at £353.33/£300
    February Grocery Budget: £190.75/£350.00

Note to self. Don't leave a Lidl shop until 1700 on a Sunday. The locusts will have stripped it bare.

However, as a result. A great YS haul of 4 whole Mackerel and 2 while Sea Bass for £3.50.

Only off list shopping was some Ainsley flavoured couscous (50p a pack in Lidl) and some of their Indian week Naan and Chapati. We have guests late in February and I'll be doing curry so good to have in rather than wait until that week and have to buy in Mr T.

Also bought 12l of Lidl Apple Juice from bulk fund. Much easier than constantly having to pick it up.

    £213.69/£250. Feeling good about this.
    Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18
    Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o
  • Evening all
I have just done my almost final calculation and updated my signature.
I need to buy a bag of dry cat food before finishing this month as I don't get paid until Tuesday and this will take me just over budget .

Looking forward to the February challenge, good luck everyone.
