We've not had any spends over the weekend. There aren't be any anticipated spends until February. We'll need to review what is in and what is needed for the next few weeks. The guest house is nearly ready and the first guests arrive on Friday so things should get a bit more back to normal soon! Mum's birthday is on Saturday and I'll be making her cake and we need a few ingredients so I know that there is that spend coming up.0

71.10 as£a home delivery yesterday. Fridge stocked to the gills. I have put 7 pounds on in the last 10 days and desperately need to stop the gain. I have got lots of lettuce, stir fry and lunch for work stuff.
Fingers crossed that I can stop eating to excess and have a week now with no more food spending.
Hard isn't it.

£50.32 spent this weekend on the last delivery of the month. Today should be a NSD, tomorrow I only need some sausages and potatoes for dinner. Then January will finally be over!0

Hello all,
Well penultimate day for me and very happy to report an underspend of £3.63 out of £100 - that has included a £16.93 spend on mainly dry stores - dog food and teabags and YS basmati rice reduced to £1 a kg at Oxfam of all places!
Have menu planned for rest of week so do not anticipate any spends tomorrow so will be joining in February with an aim to reduce spends by £5. Thanks to all who have contributed to the thread I have found lots of tips and support.January 2020 Grocery challenge £119.45/£200

Well done to everyone. I'm still reading through the last few pages, but I agree with Lynne; fail is the wrong word as it's all a learning process!
We are currently sitting at £284-odd out of £300 and we will probably pick up some bread and tissues, but it shouldn't be that much more.
OH and I have just gone through the previous 5 month period and we are a massive £72 UNDER our average - and that is including cleaning and household products (currently £22 as I have a problem with buying when I see an offer :rotfl::A). To say we are delighted is an understatement - even if I am not 100% sure what to attribute our success to?! It must be the cash system! Because we don't feel that we have eaten much differently how how we did previously - and the stock cupboard certainly isn't bare!
This month included a mammoth purchase of bacon, which should last well into Feb as it was on offer, and we had our friends over with their kids for a three course lunch.
It does focus the mind somewhat - last night, we had a pizza and film night. We made three big pizzas and a tonne of wedges (easily three dominos portions) and OH made a comment that it would have been easier to just phone a dominos (guess who had to roll the dough, cos my nails would have poked through :A). When we sat down, I worked out that it had cost us less than £3 for the entire spread - the same amount would have cost almost £50 if we'd ordered in :eek::eek:0 -
Well, I bought the cat food that came to £20.25 with a voucher (thank you MSE!) and that leaves me 35p over on a five week month.
Thank you to those who started this thread, helping to cut waste and focus on what is really important. See you in February. :jGrocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget0 -

My last post on this board. Declaring an overspend of approx £16. To be perfectly honest I think I do reAlly well regarding our normal shopping, the addition of expensive Catfood as our cat has a sensitive stomache and alcohol spends is really what adds it up. In February I am going to attempt to cut the alcohol habit right down and keep eating as healthily as possible. I might try and build up a bit more of a store cupboard as I generally don't keep or buy in bulk and don't have stores to fall back on. And keep cooking and eating more vegetarian meals and batch cooking.Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)
